Great update! to hear your day at SeaWorld ended on a sour note, but glad you enjoyed the day as a whole. I like the look of all the changes they have made at the Contemporary....definitely a fresher feel! Can't wait to hear about Chef Mickey's!

Monday 17 December – part six: having a blast with the characters

The food was only a tiny part of the story at Chef Mickey’s. This was all about the kids and the characters and they didn’t disappoint. I didn’t realise who would be here, but as well as Mickey, Pluto and Goofy, all of whom I was expecting, we also got Donald and Minnie, neither of whom I was sure would be here. This meal was meant to be for Oliver, as Mickey is his favourite, but it ended up being for Hannah, who loves Minnie and even Barb, who loves Donald. I had never anticipated that she might react so well to the characters, but you could see her light up when she saw the Duck and that was truly magical.

My favourite character though had to be Goofy, just because of what he was doing. He was dancing, he was sliding over the floor during the napkin waving and then he signed his name for Hannah and Oliver without looking at it at all. Pretty impressive stuff.

Hannah and Oliver got lots of hugs and attention from all of the characters and it made for some great photos and wonderful memories, as you can see:

My photos:

Mark’s photos:

In total, the bill for the eight of us came to $258, after DDE discount, and that has to be great value, considering the interaction we enjoyed during the meal and the kids’ faces. It turned out to be a truly magical night and really exceeded our expectations. This probably had to be the best character meal of all time.

Chef Mickey’s:

Appetiser 8 N/A
Main course 9 9½
Dessert 8½ N/A
Atmosphere 10 10
Service 9 9½
Value for money 10 10

Average score: 9.35

I just caught up with your last several updates, dinner at Artist Point looked wonderful, we're visiting there for the first time next month and after your glowing review, I can't wait! The day at Sea World sounded fun, you have some beautiful pictures. Chef Mickey's looked like a blast! It's our favorite character meal, it never disappoints us, I'm so glad you all liked it too!
