Day Five, Part Two
“No, No. You Have to Sit Here

The five of us spent some time relaxing () in the room, before finally heading down to our WCC ADR. We were seated shortly after checking in. Maybe it’s just me, but there weren’t the usual antics going on (no worries for us, we bring our own ) I think most everyone got the skillet, but I got

St. Louis-style Ribs with cowboy beans, mashed potatoes, and seasonal vegetables

Incidentally, a lot of people might think it’s slightly dorky for me to take photos of my food, but it’s easier than notes!

After dinner, it was time to head to DTD for the PassPorter meet at the Adventurer’s Club. Now Dawn and Tiff are what you might call veterans of the AC. The CLT are not. In fact, this was my first visit, and Eileen’s too. I should have suspected something was up when Dawn and Tiff spent the whole bus ride whispering to one another, then putting their pinkies to their mouths and laughing evilly. Eep.

We got to Pleasure Island and got our tickets. Well, Eileen paid for mine. (Eileen, again.) Then we made our way over to the AC, and found that a bunch of PPers were already there.

First order of business was to get a Kungaloosh. I think it was Lesley who offered to let me taste hers to see if I’d like it, but I’ve never met a frozen drink I didn’t like, so I got my own. Then I joined the rest of the PP gang. This was when I met Cheryl (chezp) and Mark for the first time, and Angie (poohsgirl). I also got a chance to chat with other PPers. I don’t think I had my camera with me, because I have absolutely no photos (in fact, the picture of my dinner is the only photo I have for the whole update).

There were a couple of shows in the Library, which we enjoyed, including one where Sue’s (rescuesk) DH Steve followed Hathaway Brown around with his camcorder and Mark got some interesting shots (see chezp's TR). We also enjoyed the between-shows entertainment. When it was almost time for a show in the Mask Room, Dawn and Tiff led us in, and when we grabbed seats, they told us that we had to sit in a certain spot (i.e. the sucker seats). Their evil plot worked, because Hathaway Brown picked on Karen, and then really teased her when he learned she was from CALIFORNIA!

We spent some more time in the main room, then Dawn and Tiff innocently suggested that we get our seats for the show in the Treasure Room. Of course, they also told us exactly where to sit. By now, we’d figured out that these were the “sucker seats,” (even Karen, and she’s from CALIFORNIA ), but we decided to play along anyway.

When the show began, Fletcher Hodges came in to tell us about all the artifacts in the room, and needed to show us one in particular, that happened to be right above my head. This, however, didn’t stop Fletcher and he climbed up onto the bench where I was sitting and … well, lets just say Fletcher gave me a private showing of his artifacts. He also needed to show us something right above our fearless leader Jennifer’s head, so she also got a private showing of Fletcher’s artifacts.

And don’t worry, I’ve forgiven Dawn and Tiff for setting us up the bomb and I’m secretly happy they did this, since I got to use my favorite Dr. Evil smiley so much!

After that, we spent a bit more time in the main room. Terri (DrDolphin) had the sweetest gift for us. It was a set of necklaces that said “Best Friends Forever” and she thought of us when she saw them, so she got them for us. I thought that was really sweet, and again, Terri! I took a photo of it, but it was the next day, so I’ll post it in my next update.

The CLT had a little conversation with Graves, the butler, and he had us all weak in the knees. Karen was all befuddled and kept referring to him as Jeeves, but I can’t say whether it was because of Graves or because she’s from CALIFORNIA.

By now, it was getting late, so the goodbyes started. I knew a few of the PPers in attendance would be around a couple more days that I'd be around, but unfortunately I had to say goodbye to a lot of the others. I really enjoyed meeting so many fabulous people and I have to say that hanging with PPers was my favorite part of Mousefest!

We walked to the bus stop with Robin, Dawn and Tiff, and then said goodbye to them as well. On the bus back to the WL, we discussed how awful the music was. I know I joked about the banjoes and crickets at POR, but the fiddles on the FW/WL bus were like nails on a chalkboard to me.

When we got off the bus, we encountered some folks who were parking cheaters and needed to get back to their cars at DTD after spending a day at the MK. Now to me, wasting over an hour to get back to your car at the end of a busy day in the park to save 10 bucks just isn’t worth it , but I guess to others, it is.

Back in our room, Eileen and Karen may have started their packing, but I wouldn’t know as I was asleep shortly after my head hit the pillow.

Great updates Sharon! I actually saw very little of your up-close and personal introduction to Fletcher's artifacts because I was hiding in my hand, bright red with embarassment FOR you. But you forgot the best part! He was actually standing on the bench to show everyone the figurine of the dangerous one-eyed snake. A tricky one that creature is... And, I kept calling the butler Jeeves, not because I'm a low-brow Californian, but because I'm a high-brow BBC watcher. But, no matter, I'll just enjoy spring with all the other idiot Californians and our 75 degree temperatures.

I just came across my crown inspired necklace from Terri yesterday, and it put the biggest smile on my face. I've got all these wacky photos in mind for our June trip, and we have to be wearing crown AND necklace in them. Thanks again Terri, and can't wait for more Sharon!

You really have to watch out for those one eyed snakes... I have heard their bark is worse than their bite is though....

I'm just saying.......................

I can't believe you'd never been to the AC! I figured you guys would be old pros there! What fun and I'm so glad someone put you in the way of the one-eyed snake Poor Andy ended up in the "sucker seat" in the mask room and was hilariously ridiculed the whole time (all thanks to Angie!!)

I don't think I was aware of it at the time, but it was a little mellow at the WCC that night. We were pretty mellow too (or was that "hungry?"), but, personally, I think I was saving my wacky for the Adventurer's Club.

On one of the looooooooongest bus rides I'd ever been on. Seriously, wasn't that ride freakishly long? Maybe the driver had directions from Marquita and needed K-Dubs to sit beside him and get us going in the right direction.

I believe this was a drop in the bucket compared to your generosity for the CP package, my friend. Otherwise, I would've cheaped-out and missed you all giggling at Ol' Flame Head.

He tried talking REALLY slow so she could keep up with him, so I let him know that she's actually a Stanford grad and would need a little more assistance. "Sorry," he said, "I don't think I could talk *that* slow -- you just do your best to keep up!"

Karen got him back later by petting his hand suggestively when he leaned against the bar. Hathaway's considerable charisma RIVETED on her and more than a few of us resorted to fanning ourselves.

Oh, you clued in to Tiff's "a couple of inches to the left. NO... too far.. Back a little... back a little.... PERFECT!" (Lucky for me, I had moved three inches too far and got to miss being up close and personal with Fletcher's 'er.' Oh, the look on your face, Sharon! The thought of it sends me over the edge every time!

And, then to have it repeated for Jennifer on the other side of the room -- priceless!

I'd like to point out that my part of the three-part necklace says "Best." Appropriate, n'est ce pas?!

Ooooooh, Graves. <<sigh>> He was delicious. (You can read my take on this encounter in DawnDenise's TR!) Seriously, I'm sitting here with a loopy grin on my face thinking about Graves. (Don't mention that to my Long-SufferingDH, mmmmkay?!)

Weren't these people "the Awfuls?" I seem to remember them as being this large group that just bickered and yelled and chastized their kids to the point of tears and then told them to "suck it up." The dad actually screamed into the little girl's face -- "SMILE!" Oy, it was sad. I saw them the next day on my DME bus and again at the airport -- they wound up on the same plane as me and caused quite a fuss!
