| NOTE: The official Bar Mitzvah Bash is over. The next few days were a little post celebration vacation. Minimal pics, no notes. I will condense the updates so you all don’t fall asleep! Light was peeking through the curtains when I opened my eyes. (Where was Eileen and her clothespins when I needed them?) I was feeling sort of sore and achy from my shot and generally pooped from the weekend. Today, as planned, I was on my own. Once Paul and the kids were up, washed, and dressed, they headed out to AK for the day. Since my body was still getting used to my new MS meds, I hopped back into bed and tried to sleep off some of the side effects. Sleep, I did. I finally roused at 11am still feeling a bit in a fog but overall better. A cold shower helped me clear my head a bit and I made my way down to the Café for lunch. I still had a bit of chills so I happily ordered a French Onion Soup and a Garden Salad. It was a bit weird for me to be eating a meal, at WDW, on my own. Lunch hit the spot and I decided to take a stroll around the grounds. Since I was on my own, I decided to pick up a Mickey Bar and boy, am I glad I did! I haven’t had one in over six years and it was every bit as wonderful as I remembered it. I sat on a bench by the Marina and soaked up the sights and sounds of the Seven Seas Lagoon. The warm sun felt like a comforting blanket all around me. After a bit, I headed back upstairs to the room; the kids were planning on heading back for an afternoon swim shortly. I guess in all my business of the past few days, I missed a key piece of paper in the hotel room. Today, for the first time, the corner of my eye caught the bounceback offer! Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see where this is heading. I checked the clock, Paul and the kids would be back in half an hour. I quickly dialed the number and starting in on the plans. 29 minutes later, we had an end-of-summer trip booked…six night split stay between the AKL and the GF…I had ~promised~ the kiddos our next trip would include a stay at the AKL. 90 seconds after that, my family returned. They filled me in on their morning at the AK. ![]() ![]() “What did you do, Mom?” they asked. “Me, nothing special.” I answered. No way was I springing this trip on Paul, yet! I was feeling a bit perkier so I headed to the pool with the kids and told Paul to take some time for himself. We headed down to the main pool first and the kids took about 100 or so turns on the waterslide. I stayed in the pool, towards the water slide exit, just in case. After the exhausted the slide and the waterfall, we headed to the quiet pool. I sat on the steps and the kids frolicked around, playing games. I absolutely adore the fact that my thirteen year old son and six year old daughter are so able to find common ground and enjoy each other’s company. I smiled and thought to myself, for the umpteenth time this trip, I am truly blessed. It was getting late in the afternoon and we had an ADR at Flying Fish with my in-laws. So, upstairs we headed to quickly rinse off the chlorine, dress, and hop on over to the Boardwalk. We checked in and were seated immediately at a large round table toward to rear of the dining room. As an aside here…over the past six years we have met our share of Disney Chefs since they always come out to speak to us about Izzy’s allergies. And, since we are creatures of habit, we see a lot of the same Chefs over and over as we have our list of restaurant favs. In any case, we had not been to the FF for a long time. We were pleasantly surprised when Chef Anthony came over. We immediately recognized each other as he used to be over at Narcoossee’s! We chatted a bit, went over menu selections for Izzy and then he gave us his business card should we need anything in the future. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal here, though I, a little less…no chicken on the menu and I that is my main preference in dinner fare. Selections included apps of… *Young Arugula Salad with Candied Walnuts, Seckel Pears, Gorgonzola Crostini * Maine Lobster Soup Entrees…. *Potato-Wrapped Red Snapper - Creamy Leek Fondue and Red Wine and Cassis Butter Sauce *Oak-grilled Maine Diver Scallops - calabaza squash-laced risotto di carnarolli, Honshemeji mushrooms, sage, serrano ham cracklins *Char Crusted New York Strip Steak - roasted fingerling potatoes and root vegetables, broccolini, classic sauce Foyot Dessert was out of the question as we were just too full. It was EMH night at Epcot so we drove over there….it was great to find a relatively quiet parking lot and we scored an excellent spot easily within walking distance to the entrance. We had two goals this evening….Soarin’ and Spaceship Earth. Crowds were manageable and we achieved our goal before sauntering back to the parking lot and making the quick drive ‘home’. Seriously tired, we changed and hit the sack within minutes.

| Well, I suppose if you have to feel cruddy all morning, it's best to feel cruddy at Disney! Your morning sounds like it was quite therapeutic. And, of course, there's nothing more therapeutic than booking another trip! WOO-HOO!! (much better!)

| Just got caught up (and boy was I behind!). Love the photos from the ceremony and the one and friends at Illuminations and the one of the girls dancing at MK and Izzy with her new hair-do and... I'm glad that it was a magical trip for such a special occasion.

| What a nice relaxing morning you had...hope you start to feel better from the medication, but I think your body really just needed some sleep and relaxation time...you have been on a whirlwind couple of days which of course could have made the side effects even worse... Your lunch sounded light and filling...and a bounceback offer, can;t wait to hear how you tell the rest of the travelers... I have been wanting to try the Flying Fish as well but I am also a chicken person so I have yet to make the reservation... Can't wait to hear more... |
