Sounds like you all had a great day at Sea World!!! Sorry to hear Katie got sick during the night. It doesn't sound too promising that the sickness bug ended with Katie.

Trip Report Day 4 - Magic Kingdom

Sorry for the delay!! Here is day 4.

I got up around 6:30 am today. Everyone else was still asleep, so I used the opportunity to grab a shower. By the time I was done, my mom was up and about. We talked about Katie being sick the night before and decided to make a quick run to the grocery store since everyone else was asleep. On our way out of the resort, we stopped at the front desk to I could talk with the manager about what had happened with my daughter getting sick, so she could give housekeeping a fair warning. I had bagged everything up the best I could, but I sure wouldn’t want to be the one handling those linens without knowing what was going on. The CM gave housekeeping a call and we were on our way.

We headed over to the Goodings grocery store past DTD. We decided to pick up ingredients to make spaghetti at the cabin for supper, and I picked up some children’s chewable pepto bismol. My mom also stopped to fill up the van with gas. We got back to the cabin around 9:30 and everyone was still sleeping! We went ahead and woke everyone up. The MK was waiting! After a quick breakfast at the cabin of cereal, fruit and juice, we left a tip for housekeeping and set out for the TTC. We decided to drive to the TTC so we could take the kids on the monorail. They really enjoyed this and loved going through the Contemporary Resort. The monorail really wasn’t too crowded and we were all able to sit down for our ride.

We arrived at the MK just in time to see a ferry pull up that was absolutely packed to the gills. We made sure to get to the turn-styles before that mob made its way up. After entering the park, we headed for the train, and took it over to Frontierland. We hopped off here and grabbed fast passes for Splash Mountain. Our return time was 12:35-1:35pm, and it was 11:30 so we headed for POTC. The posted wait time was 20 minutes so we got in line. I pretty muc h had to coax Katie through the entire queue. She was terrified that there was going to be a big drop on the ride or that she would get soaked. I promised that neither of those things would happen and what ultimately got her to ride it was my description of the dog holding the keys in his mouth at the jail. (My apologies for spoiling anything if there were any first time riders behind us in line). She got a little nervous at first but I talked her through the little drop that there is, and she was fine after that. We all really enjoyed the ride and took in all of the upgrades they’ve made. We thought Capt. Jack looked pretty authentic!

After POTC, we headed over to the Enchanted Tiki Room. I thought Katie would really enjoy this. (The one item she wanted for Christmas last year was the “Squakers the Talking Macaw”. ) We headed into line and waited less than 5 minutes to enter. The kids really enjoyed the show, but I have to say that I personally miss the old show. I don’t care very much for the “under new management” piece of it. Still, it was a cute show and one that I’m glad we took the time to see.

Next, we headed for a Dole Whip to eat on our way to Splash Mountain. DH got vanilla and the girls and I got the traditional pineapple. YUMMMMM! Katie decided she didn’t really like it, so Chad switched with her. After our treat, we headed back to Splash Mountain.

We entered the Fast Pass line and started winding our way through. Of course, on the way to the queue, Katie saw the actual logs coming down the drop and proceeded to have a meltdown in line. She was terrified to go. We tried to gently coax her along, but she wouldn’t have any of it. I could tell my mom was getting a little irritated with her. I know she was scared because of that darn Atlantis ride at SW. I said I would step out of line with her, which made my older daughter upset, (she was going to sit with me). My mom insisted that she would stay with Katie. I offered to do rider switch but she didn’t want to. In the end, Chad, Sam, Barry, and I rode and my mom and Katie took the last chance exit. Poor Katie…I felt really bad, but it was probably best that she didn’t ride. I forgot about that drop in the dark! Even Sam got a little scared on that. Sam and I got drenched but it was a lot of fun!

We headed towards BTMR, but the wait was listed at 50 minutes so we decided to move on. Our next stop was Haunted Mansion. The wait listed was 30 minutes. As we wound through the line, the girls both started getting pretty hot and thirsty so we promised to stop for lunch after the ride. The wait time was pretty much dead-on (no pun intended). Again, I talked to Katie all through the queue about how it would be dark and there would be spooky sounds, etc. She held my hand in the stretching room, but that was it. She didn’t get scared at all. She rode with me in my “Doom Buggy” and I enjoyed pointing out all the things to look at to her. I also enjoyed spotting all the changes since the last time I was here. When we were exiting the ride Katie said “that was actually really fun” Whew!! What a relief!

Chad was ready to chew his own arm off and the girls were pretty hot at this point, so we headed over to Pinnochio Haus for lunch and to cool off. We had a little trouble finding a table, but eventually snagged one in a corner by the door. Chad and Sam had the cheese pizza and Katie had the chicken with apple slices. I just ate some crackers from our snack bag (I think my stomach was a little woozy from Splash Mountain believe it or not, LOL). Katie only picked at her lunch and Chad wound up eating this too.

After lunch, we walked on towards fantasy land. This is when the bathroom issues began. Katie kept having to stop about every 20-30 minutes for the bathroom. I asked her if she wanted to go back to the hotel but of course she said no. I should have brought the pepto bismol (bad mom). I felt so bad for her L She wasn’t getting sick to her stomach, but having “other issues.” We stopped in Ariel’s Grotto and the girls played in the water while my mom and I went to grab fast passes for Buzz Lightyear. (Chad and Barry stayed with the girls). We picked those up, and our return time was listed as 4:55 to 5:55.

We spotted Tigger and Pooh in Pooh’s “Thotful Spot” so the girls got in line for their first autographs. We were in line 15 minutes and moved up 2 spots. Warning…Minor Rant ahead. I know everyone wants to get pics of their kids with the characters, but while you’re in line, get your camera ready. And is it necessary to take 10 different pictures?? Once family with 3 kids wanted a separate pic of each kid with the character and then one with all the kids and the character and one with mom. Dad, kids and character and one with mom and dad and the character. Like I said, I understand it’s their vacation too, but I felt bad for all the kids who got stranded in that line and never got a chance to meet Tigger and Pooh. (They left after that).

Anyway, we decided to head over and catch the Pooh ride. None of us had ever been on it before. The wait time said 20 minutes so we decided to give it a try. About 15 minutes into the wait, we knew the wait time was wrong. It appeared that only the fast pass line was getting put on, and the other line was at an absolute stand still. Katie had to have a trip to the bathroom and getting out of that line was not fun! Getting back was even worse.

I know there are a lot of people that take advantage of situations and come and meet their party in the middle of the line after riding a different ride, but this wasn’t us. A man in the line next to my family really gave me a hard time when I was trying to get back in line with them. I finally had to tell him that my little girl was only 6 and when there is a bathroom issue, there is nothing I can do about it. I am not going to make her go to the back of the line when the majority of our group was still in line. He finally left me alone after that.

Our wait time wound up being 50 minutes for this ride!! It was cute, but not worth the wait and the trouble we went through. I can see where this would be a favorite with the smaller kids though. I would definitely suggest getting a fast pass for this one.

Next, we headed over to the Indy race cars (as we call them). The wait was 70 minutes so we kept on going. We had to make another mad dash to the bathroom, then decided to ride the people mover. This was a nice break, and there was absolutely no wait to get on (there hardly ever is). The kids enjoyed getting to see the inside of Space Mountain and the views of the castle.

After the TTA, we stopped and shopped at a pin cart. I bought the girls each their first set of pins, and Katie promptly made her first trade with the CM working at the cart. She traded a Stitch pin for a cute little Chip and Dale pin.

While we shopped, Chad went to get us some drinks and he also bought us a fruit smoothie to share. The smoothie was very good (mango / banana I believe).

After our shopping and smoothie, it was time to head to Buzz Lightyear. We headed to the fast pass line and the stand by line was at 50 minutes. We wound our way through and were to the front of the line within 10 minutes. However, when there were 2 people in front of me, the cars came to an abrupt halt. As the minutes ticked by and more and more CM’s with tools on their belts started coming out, we didn’t think it looked too promising. Then, we had another emergency bathroom issue come up so Katie and I made a mad dash for the exit. I explained why we needed to leave and we were given 2 ride re-entry tickets that were marked as good for any ride in the park. By the time we found the bathroom and made our way back to Buzz, we could see people streaming out of the exits. They had shut the ride down for technical difficulties. The rest of my family had been given the same re-entry tickets.

We all decided to go ahead and start heading down Main Street, since we hadn’t even seen it yet and it was now going on 5:30. We made a stop in Main Street Bakery. Sam was dying to try the home made ice cream cookie sandwiches we had told her about. Katie, Sam and Chad all got one. Katie only took 4 or 5 bites of hers (probably not a good idea with her tummy issues, but I couldn’t leave her out.) Her dad ate the rest of it. My mom had a piece of carrot cake, and Barry went next door to watch the glass maker. Sam loved the ice cream cookie sandwich (of course) and Katie would have if she felt better. Mom said the carrot cake was delicious as well.

We made a stop in the shop that embroiders the mouse ears. We didn’t buy any but had a good time looking at all of the different hat options.

After this, we all decided to head back to the resort. It was just one of those days when things didn’t go right. With a very heavy heart, we left. I was really sad about this day. I had been looking forward to this the most and it just didn’t live up to the “magic” I was hoping to give my kids. I really feel like I should apologize to whoever reads this because I know I sounded negative about the whole day. I wasn’t trying to be…I guess I was just so disappointed that everything seemed to go wrong, and my family wasn’t getting along very well. On the monorail ride back to the TTC, we all rested and felt better by the time we got to our car.

Back at the resort, the girls wanted to go swimming again. Mom volunteered to start dinner so Chad and I could take them down to the pool. I took the opportunity to also do some laundry, so we loaded up the golf cart and headed over. The girls swam for about an hour and we headed back to the cabin for dinner. Mom had everything ready (Thanks Mom!) and we all sat down to eat Mostaciolli and garlic bread. About half way through the meal, Sam suddenly set her fork down and looked at me and said “mom, I don’t feel good. I need to go to bed” Oh No!!!!

She literally went straight to bed after that. I had her sleep on the bottom bunk and put the bathroom trash can next to her.

After dinner, mom and Barry decided to take a ride on the golf cart around the resort. I cleaned up the kitchen and Chad and Katie went outside to scout for anoles. We all turned in at about 10:00 pm because we wanted to get an early start the next day. (We were driving to Clearwater beach).

Once again, at about 12:30 am I woke up to the sounds of “sickness”. Sam forgot that I had put the trash can next to her bed and was making a mad dash for the bathroom. Poor kid! I got her all settled and back in bed then I stayed awake for a couple of hours just kind of waiting to see if she would be sick again and thinking about the day. As a mom, you never want to see your kids sick, but ESPECIALLY not on vacation.

I finally went to sleep with a little prayer that the girls would be better tomorrow.

Again, I apologize that today’s report sounded negative. We all still had a good time and were so grateful to get to go to MK. I think I just took it hard because as the mom / planner, you want everything to go “right”.

Tomorrow – Dolphins, Sharks, Crabby Bill’s and A Spoonful of Sugar helps the medicine go down…in the most delightful way!!

So sorry your DD got sick. I know I would be equally devestated to have that happen on vacation. Glad yall were still able to go to the MK and get several rides in even if there were several bathroom breaks along the way. I hope DD gets well by morning. Can't wait to hear more!

The poor girls...feeling sick and still wanting to have a good time. Don't worry about feeling a little dissappointed...we all do when you have something in your mind and then it does not turn out that way...

Hopefully the girls will fell better in the morning and you can enjoy the rest of the trip...

I know just what you mean...as a mommy/planner, you want all your well thought out plans to go just perfect...I'm the exact same way. And when they don't....it's so very upsetting. Just stay positive! I just know the rest of your trip will be amazing! I only hope your kiddos get to feeling better so that they can better enjoy their trip! And so you...the mommy...can relax a bit and enjoy your time with your family!!

Have fun...can't wait to hear more!

Yikes so sorry the bug has hit the girls. We too had a bout of that on one trip with all three of the boys and it is so hard to balance between everyone sitting in the room and dragging a sick kid along. Hope they are all feeling better soon.
