Toy Story Mania Passholder Preview
Beach Club, May 9-11, 2008

OK so we’re all Disney fans. I’m an uber Disney fan. I’m a Disney maniac. You should know. You read my trip reports. My many, many trip reports. That’s part of the reason this is a “secret” trip. I mean, I only told one person at work, and that’s because he’s my close friend. My Disney mania is well known in my office. I work for a fairly large company, and my reputation precedes me. No comments from you, Eileen. I didn’t mean it that way. People I don’t really know, who work on other floors, come to me with questions about Disney. I don’t need people thinking I’m actually getting worse.

My family knows about my mania, but they understand (and because they are related to me, they have to love me and be nice to me and junk, even if they think I’m crazy ). I’m very lucky to have family members who “get it,” so there’s really no need to worry. I’m keeping this trip a secret from my nephews for the time being, because they get so jealous. Daniel once asked me if I lived at Disney. They’ve made me feel so guilty about my frequent trips (without them) that I’m actually planning to take them next summer. My plan is for just me and the two older boys (who would be 9 and 7 at the time), but my DM is already hinting that I need her to go.

So why did I keep it secret from you, the people who would certainly understand? Well I just thought it would help to keep my TR fresh and interesting. When you write as many as I do, they tend to run together.

I just got back from a trip in early April. I’ve got a trip scheduled for the end of this month. That should be enough for even a maniac like me. So how did this trip come about? I discovered I had $125 in Southwest credits that I needed to use before July 2008. In fact, I needed to fly by July 2008. I already had my airfare taken care of for my trip with the CLT in June, so I figured I’d go somewhere else. I do travel to places other than Disney. I considered going to Chicago or Baltimore, since both those cities regularly have Dings in the $50 range from my airport. I figured I’d catch a baseball game, see the sights, whatever.

So what made me change to Disney? Just about a month ago, I found out about the preview weekend for the new Toy Story Mania attraction. I’d need to eat and get a hotel room wherever I went, and at Disney, I wouldn’t have to pay for any admission tickets, so it might even be cheaper. The only issue was the airfare. I checked and was able to find something that worked and I’d only have to pay $55. That settled it!

I wanted to stay in the Epcot resort area because it’s so close to both DHS and Epcot. With such a short trip, I figured that being able to walk would save me a lot of time. I really wanted the Beach Club, which is one of my favorite resorts. So I sent an email to Keri (MrsM), my TA, asking her to see what she could get me.

Shortly thereafter, Keri responded with the good news. She’d gotten me the Beach Club, and at a great rate to boot! I considered making an ADR or two, but decided to wing it. I could deal with counter service for this quick trip.

I’m pretty excited because this is the first time I’ve ever been able to attend an AP preview. Plus, I’m a fan of the Toy Story films, so I’m looking forward to trying out this new attraction, which sounds pretty dang cool. I designed a t-shirt for the occasion, and even used (or attempted to) the little green aliens color for my font. It’s not exactly easy on the eyes, so I’ll use it sparingly.

I’ve got no itinerary (other than DHS). No ADRs. No idea of the park hours. But I’ll be fine. Whatever I don’t get to do will wait another couple of weeks. I did make some secret plans to meet up with Terri (DrDolphin) and Lesley (WDWfan) on Saturday morning.

I guess that’s all for the pre-trip report. There’s nothing else to discuss. I’m actually bringing my laptop with me, with the idea that I may do some live trip reporting, but do not hold me to that. I think I’ll be having too much fun (or else sleeping ).

And for those of you humming the song from Flashdance, I promise I won’t be wearing legwarmers or dumping a bucket of water on myself.

Oh, and Dyan, does it make sense now? Annual Passholder. Weekend. Get it?

Oh....I envy you . You are a maniac but you are a great one at that and I figure if you are going to be maniacal about something (that is a word isn't it) then Disney is a great thing to be maniacal about....(ok I like this word...lol)

I was so happy to read about your little "secret" trip not only becuase that means that I have another of your fabulous TR's to look forward to (you TR's are getting me through until our June trip) but I am going to show your pre-TR to my daughter who says I am obsessed....now she says this with a smile and of course can't complain becuase my obsession benefits her (I mean she does get to go to Disney) but I am not as lucky to get to fulfill my obsession as much as you are lately....

But it is ok...becuase I will live vicariously though you
