| I'm glad you liked Festival of the Lion King, it was one of our favourite shows as well. Sorry to hear about your daughter's complaints - hopefully it was just the excitement and journey there? I imagine the heat just added to it. Although we love the Rainforest Cafe at the Mall of America, I've taken note of the not-so-good reviews I've read here and won't ever consider eating there. |

| Overall it looks like you had a pretty good first day, despite, DD mood swings, heat and not so decent food at the Rain Forest Cafe. I too have a child who can be pretty moody at times especially when he gets hot and overheated, so I know how you feel. The Festival of the Loin King is my favorite show at WDW, I am glad you enjoyed it, I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip. |

| Is there a store nearby that carries stuff for runners? I ordered it online and was in a store here in town buying socks and there it was! BodyGlide looks like a stick deodorant but is something you can put on your skin to prevent chafing and blisters. BODYGLIDE / Prevention Is Better Than A Cure There's a store finder on their web site.

| thrashers09: Yes, they sell it in GA! (thats where we live also) I had to travel to sports authority to get it. I used it on my feet everday to prevent blisters and on my thighs to prevent chaffing. I used it every morning before heading to the parks and worked! I had NO chaffing and NO blisters the entire trip! ( I've spent just a single day at sixflags before and experienced chaffing and feet blisters so after spending 8 days at Disney, this truly did the trick!)

| Day 1 (continued): We left Rainforest Cafe thru the gift shop. My kids insisted on hitting up every gift shop we passed. I'm all about shopping but at times, it got old. They each had their own money and it was burning a hole in their pocket! They kept finding things they wanted , but I encouraged them to wait to shop till we were on our way out of the park so that we did not have to lug it around. I purposely didn't tell them about the free shipping to your resort even though I knew about it because I was trying to detour some of their shopping. We finally made it out of the gift shop and there was a place you re-enter the park using your tickets. It was now about 6:15pm. I got out my park tickets and entered one, she said it was showing up not valid and to try again. It still came up non valid and I then began trying all of our tickets and none of them would allow us entry into the park! I was starting to panic a little, I tried explaining to her how this didn't make since and that we had used them to enter earlier and they worked fine! She was very nice and said lets try it again, so we put one ticket in and she took the time to read it or something and she said- it says these tickets are only valid for room keys only not park tickets. I immediately realized the problem when she said that! We had paper tickets that were NOT connected to the room key and stupid me had been trying to enter using our room keys that whole time instead of using our regular park tickets, I guess I just wasn't thinking. So when I finally put thru our actual park tickets, we were granted entry! Finally! That lady was sooo patient with me! Now that we were finally back in the park we headed to Kilimanjaro Safaris! There were signs up posting that the last safari departed at 7:30 , so we had plenty of time still. The skies were pretty dark and as we walked towards the safari, the sprinkling was picking up a little. We were able to walk right on the safari! There was a light rain so I guess that had detoured others. I loved, loved, loved it! And so did the kids! We were able to see so many animals including the lion. He was out in full view, standing on a rock. The kids took pictures on their portable camera that I have not had developed yet. This was one of our favorite attractions of the day! The animals were so close to you and you could see no barriers, it was very neat. We then headed for the train to conversation station. The train was loading as we walked up so we boarded immediately. Unfortunately when we got to the other side they said everything (the petting zoo, ect) was closing in less than 5 minutes , so we just rode the train back. I wish they would have told us this before getting on board! We headed to kali rapids , but it was closed due to the weather and they said it would probably not reopen until the next day. We then headed to Expedition Everest! It was listed as a 10 minute wait but the CM standing at the entrance said it wasn't even that long. . We were able to walk right on. I loved it, The kids got scared off and on. They said they liked it but did not want to ride again. We then headed for Dinasour. There was no line, but there was some sort of waiting area that took a few minutes. Alas, we were boarding our time machine. The kids did not care for this one at all! I liked it o.k., It would have probably been more enjoyable if I didn't have to ride with hysterical children. LOL. . By this time it was a few minutes til closing and the kids had picked a few things to purchase. . The rain had became VERY heavy in the time that we had entered Dinasour. It was down right pouring with thunder and lightning! We made a few purchases. Each of the boys bought a trading pin to add to their collection. They all three bought a webkinz, I was not thrilled about this purchase. We can shop for webkinz any time of the year and I didn't view it as a "souvenier". But it was their own money so I allowed it. Madilyn bought a disney car.(?) We decided just to tough out the rain and head to the bus stop. Madilyn and Wesley each had a poncho in their fanny packs. But remember, I told you earlier Dillon did not carry his. Luckily I had a ponco and a small umbrella in mine. When I asked him if he wanted my poncho (as I'd prefer the umbrella) , he declined. I then offered him my umbrella which he accepted. So I was stuck with the poncho. Our walk to the exit may not have been the best decision, as lightning was striking all around us. We kept trucking along and finally made it to the buses. However we quickly realized there were two sides and we were on the wrong one. Rather than make the hike back in this horrid weather, we cut across the street to the other side. As we were basically to the other side a CM comes out of no where and tells us this is not safe and we need to back track to get to the other side. We followed his directions. As we were going back around and the lightning was stricking all around and we seen the pop bus pulling off, I was seriously wishing we had pretended not to hear him and just kept walking since we were all but there when he approached us. I guess I could have pretended not to know English or something. When I think back to his words of how it wasn't safe for us to cross the street, I think of how we'd already pretty well crossed the street and had to cross back with him (unsafe) and I thought how safe is it to walk in the lightning storm? LOL. Oh well, we finally made it to the bus stop and rain let up a little. We were SO tired. We took off our ponchos and Dillon took down the umbrella. Believe it or not , Dillon apeared to be the dryest! We didn't wait long for a bus. When we made it back to the hotel, we went straight to the room. We all took showers and the kids watched a little t.v. We turned everything off at 11pm and everyone passed out quickly. I feel like we had a really great first day and I can't get over all the short lines! Up Next: Magic Kingdom!
