| Sunday, June 9th….Part Two…. We arrived back at the Animal Kingdom and met one of the most memorable CMs. Len was in the AKL lobby, greeting guests. Our kids were drawn to his pin collections and went about the business of trading. Afterwards, Len took notice of Paul’s New England Patriots shirt and began some good ribbing….as it was Len hailed from southern Connecticut and was a die-hard Giants fan! We probably spent a good 20 minutes chatting with Len about his retirement, his job, his 13 grandchildren, and of course…working at Disney. We headed up to the room and took sometime to enjoy the animals outside our balcony. In actuality, these pics were taken throughout the past three days but I neglected to post them with each update because, frankly, I take lousy pics! The skies were starting to look a little threatening so we decided to head to the pool before any storms hit. Once again, Izzy took about twenty-seven or so trips down the slide. At some point, Paul went back up to the room…I can’t recall the exact reason why but I am certain it had to do with some televised sporting event. I played around in the pool a bit more and then hung out by the side while the kids continued on. ![]() I snapped this pic of my new found friend… ![]() A bit later, the kids and I headed back to the room to rinse off, relax and refuel on a few snacks. I headed once again, to the lounge, to pick up some snacks for Izzy. I was happy to run into Eileen who was zoning out on the comfy couch…I pulled up a chair and spent a few moments hearing her re-tell the latest moments of the hijinks and hilarity. Karen turned up shortly after and was filling me in on some good info for my planned AK EMH. In retrospect, I should have hauled Izzy up to the lounge to meet those ladies and their sensational curls (Izzy is in the I-hate-my-curly-hair-why-can’t-I-have-straight-hair stage). Unfortunately, with her allergies, the food filled lounge is like a minefield. Still, I was glad to have a few more moments with Eileen and Karen before they headed out, with the boys, onto their DME bus. Our ADR at Jiko was fast approaching and we were all looking forward to returning to one of our favs. Once again, words fail me and I cannot do the meal justice with my description. Suffice it to say….everything was fantabulous! I can’t recommend Jiko enough! Apps… Taste of Africa ![]() Fruit Salad ![]() Flatbread of the Week…roasted garlic and onion puree, spinach, ripe peaches, purple haze goat cheese. Sounded a little strange but wow, it was amazing! ![]() Surprise! As we were munching on our apps, I was chatting with our server, Michelle. I was asking her about the corn soup and whether it was heavily cream based or not. She told me how light and delicious it was and I made a mental note to try it out if it was still available when we return in August. What a lovely treat it was when Michelle came back a few moments with three mini cups and a pitcher of this liquid gold…. Roasted Zellwood Corn Soup ![]() Minty, Limey Drink ![]() Mains…. Filet and Mac ![]() Short Ribs ![]() Kids Filet ![]() Tanglewood Chicken ![]() Simply no room for dessert, we decided to head out for evening EMH at AK and hopefully, walk off some of those calories!

| You caught as at a bad moment in the lounge -- I was practically asleep after too many days of getting up early and going to sleep late. (I think I managed ONE nap the whole trip -- a record for me!) Your meal at Jiko sounded yummy. You brought back great memories of the mac and cheese meal (yeah, yeah... there was meat on the plate, but that mac and cheese..... )Eileen
