Oh my gosh, Sharon! I have to tell you... I have been contemplating a trip to WDW, possibly as a suprise for DD. I thought *grudgingly* that I would be 'nice' and add US/IOA into the mix, since everyone isn't quite as Disney-obsessed as me! (we haven't done those parks since 2002). But holy cow, after reading your report, I think I am going to be happy to stay in my Disney bubble!!

And I am confused about being checked into 2 hotels at once. What did I miss?

Funny that you should say this because Mary Devall just watched bits and pieces of it a couple of weeks ago on tv and then someone gave us the E.T. video last week.

I’m sure I would’ve liked it better if I hadn’t ended up on the cutting room floor. I wasn’t in the little movie they show at the end.
Well . . . that's just not right.

I walked over and saw that the Egyptian guys on stilts were posing for photos. I decided to get a photo of them with some anonymous people I didn’t know. It was only when I got home and looked at the picture I got that I realized that the people in the shot were looking right at me. The person they were posing for must have been standing right next to me!

I just love the girl on the left’s expression

That is hilarious! Fess up though - - they are actually your new BFF's, aren't they?

Well perhaps it’s from one of the books that I haven’t read. I hope so. Because if not…
As a big fan of books like Go Dog Go - - that name simply tanks!

Quote:
I ordered a banana shake (in case you haven’t noticed before, I bananas and I tend to always order banana-whatever if it’s on the menu. Bananas and chocolate? Ambrosia! )
Okay, I think you love bananas about as much as I hate them!

The mashed potatoes were inside the wrap, which I’d never seen done before, but it helped to keep the wrap together and it was much neater than eating your typical wrap.
That sounds very interesting - - never heard of mashed potatoes in a wrap either, but it makes sense!

And I gave the mom such an incredulous look that she told them to stop. Of course, they just started climbing over another booth
Okay, climbing over booths is definitely a big no no. What was that mom thinking?

I think I need to reiterate that this was INSIDE THE FREAKING PARK!!! I think this was what started me on my downward spiral.
Oooh, I would have been so angry! I can't believe that they allowed a timeshare salesperson inside the park! You should have offered him $100 just to leave you alone!

Originally, I was supposed to arrive on 5/31 and stay at Portofino, then join the CLT-1+2 at the Beach Club on June 1. Then, my parents asked me to use their timeshare week so it wouldn't go to waste, which is why I arrived on 5/30. I kept the room at Portofino for the front-of-the-line access, which I knew would make it so much easier to get both parks done in one day!

That's definitely the best way, in my opinion. Of course, when we go in December, it'll be in the middle of the trip, so I'll have to make up some kind of happy mantra to help me get through it.

I was dissapointed in myself afterwards, because it does look like there is alot to enjoy there Can't wait for more!!!
Amanda, you just gave me a huge case of the giggles! I wouldn't discourage anyone from visiting Universal (but I wouldn't really encourage them either). If you have the right frame of mind, you'll enjoy yourself. I did at first, and enjoyed myself at first. The only reason I'm going back so soon is because I know my DF wants to, and I love meeting the Grinch during the Christmas season.

The singing dude was around my age, I guess. You can decide whether that makes him young or old. And as long as you don't allow your children (ones that are old enough to know better) to climb the walls (literally), there won't be any photos.

Well, here's the thing. I get a huge employee discount at Portofino, so that makes it worth it. When you pay the regular rates, it's less worth it, depending on how long your stay is and the number of people in your party. It's a beautiful hotel, so I guess that's worth it.

Well, Eileen, I'd planned to make an update over the weekend, but just because of your comments I decided to spend the weekend shopping, swimming and going to the movies. Feel better? Of course, I didn't read about this until now, but you don't know that.... D'oh! I'd work on an update today, but I forgot to resize and upload the next batch of photos, so it'll have to be tomorrow.

Actually, I think having both was a big advantage. Sometimes the Express line built up and I'd use single, and sometimes it was the opposite. This way I could always get the shorter line.

Oooohhh, you work for Loews....... you're going to love this. Somewhere in my mind I had you working at Lowes. The hotel discount and the part about you being at Portofino in it's early stage makes so much more sense.

Finally a few minutes to read TRs!!! you might have kept us waiting P-Sha but you totally made up for it in your first installment of updates. Sounds like an okay day at US/IOA. I just can't bring myself to leave the Disney bubble. Maybe one day!

The picture of the anonymous chicks is HILARIOUS! I also love your pictures of the kids climbing. Kind of like an undercover assisgnment showing what not to do in a restaurant.

Looking forward to more!!

Lovin the trip report...... and hearing about Universal. I love the Mummy ride. Dn and I rode this many times and one of the time the Eygptian Dude was waiting right outside the gift shop door. I came out of the gift shop and he scared the daylights out of me. As he moved when I got to the door. SPiderman is my other fav there... and I have heard about the changes to Ripsaw Falls. The seats were ill fitting originally , I don't think it will be an easy fit for me either next time I go.
Your Food at Mythos looked good. and I would have ordered the Banana shake. I love banana's Can't wait to read more of "tales from the darkside"

I'm glad you started your report. I love reading all of yours. DD Lori and her boyfriend were at DW at the same time you were. They also went to US and have decided not to go again because of the rudeness of people and lack of magic. I can't wait to read more about the rest of your trip.

Glad to see you writing Sharon!

I have often wondered it we were missing anything at US. I think the Disney bubble suits us better and we will stick to it. Thanks for your review on US.

Looking forward to more.
