| The day started out like any other Friday. I got up to go to work (boo, hiss). ![]() I had left instructions with my mom to let Andrew sleep as late as he wanted since I knew it would be a late night. I think he ended up waking around 9:30. Lucky kid. ![]() Why is it that when you’re trying to leave the office for vacation all H%$* breaks loose five minutes before you want to leave? Actually I’m glad it happened that way I could tie up loose ends and not have to worry about them. I only left the office 5 or 10 minutes late. ![]() I rushed home to put the last of the toiletries in the checked luggage and the toothbrushes in the carry on. Andrew was watching TV when I got home. Surprise, surprise. I don’t even think it was anything Disney related. I ate some leftover pizza for lunch, as if I wouldn’t have enough pizza in the days to come. As I was eating the garbage truck came by and the men left everyone’s cans in the middle of the road. I had gone to bring my neighbor’s can back as a small favor for bringing us to the airport. Although I don’t really think bringing back a trash can measures up to driving someone to the airport. But the stupid can was bugging me sitting in the middle of the road. Anyway, she came out and ask if we were ready to leave yet. Ummm, well it’s only 12:45 and I wasn’t really planning on leaving until 1:30. Our flight was scheduled for 4:30 and it only takes about 45 minutes to get to the airport. I kind of sensed she wanted to get going so she could get back home so I threw Andrew his shoes and told him to get moving. Before we took the luggage out I had to go over some rules with Andrew. Most of which weren’t followed, but I’ll get to that later. Some of the more important rules were no running ahead of me, no whining, etc. The typical traveling with a young child type of stuff. We brought the luggage next door, piled into the car and took off. We had a rather uneventful drive to the airport. We had to wait for a few cars to move before we could pull up to the curb side check in/drop off. There was a family in front of us who had to all hug Grandpa at least six times before he finally got back in his car and moved out of the way. We got checked in without issue then proceeded to make the long walk to the security check point. There was a long line, but moved quickly. We made our way to the gate and found some seats on the other side of the terminal. I realized that we still had a couple of hours before we would even start boarding. I broke out Andrew’s toys and books that he quickly became bored with. He started crying he was hungry, but didn’t want the pop tarts I had in my bag. I soon just took him for a walk down to the little play area in the airport to keep him occupied. That worked. After a while we went back to the gate to check the stroller and wait for boarding. While waiting Andrew finally decided he was hungry enough to eat the food I had with me. Then the whining started. Which is breaking rule # 2 already. He started with the “This is taking too long.” “When are we getting on the plane?” We finally boarded with the A group and found some seats. The aisle seat next to us was empty and was snatched up rather quickly. Andrew likes the window and wanted me to sit next to him. Anyone who thinks that an empty aisle seat is a great thing better look to see who else is in the row. If there is a small child who looks restless, then may I suggest you sit elsewhere. This gentleman asked if the seat was available and I told him it was. He sat down and I was immediately assaulted by the many rum drinks he had consumed while waiting for the flight. Now, I like a good rum drink as much as the next person but this guy reeked. You know how after a night out with friends and heavy drinking you might come home with alcohol seeping out of your pores? This guy was like this at 4 in the afternoon. My first thought was “Geez buddy drink the whole freakin’ bottle next time!” ![]() I would soon get my revenge on the rum man when Andrew started whining that he was hungry, he was thirsty now. He wasn’t willing to wait patiently for them to start the beverage service. The fact that it took a while to board the plane and then wait our turn to take off wasn’t helping with the impatience situation. Let’s just say it was a very long 2 hour flight and I was glad when it was over. I’m willing to bet that those around us were glad to get off the plane too. After waiting to get off the plane and a little certain someone being a tad impatient we finally made our way to………..the bathrooms. I bet you thought we were headed straight for the magical express bus didn’t you? Now that everyone was a bit more comfortable, we made our way to the “monorail” to the other side of the airport. We found the magical express station without too much trouble. It didn’t help that I walked right by the escalator to go down to the first level. We waited about 10 minutes before boarding a bus with people going to the Animal Kingdom and Pop Century. It wouldn’t be long until I was in my happy place. ![]() ![]() ![]() Up next: Arriving at Coronado Springs
