| I'm so glad you started your report Marnie. I've gotten so far behind lately, there are so many of us going at the same time. We check into the BC the same day you do. Way awesome. Sounds like your trip was definitely meant to be. Can't wait to hear where you'll be dining. Hurry back.

| Next Up in Planning…….ADRs!! Before I knew it, we were at the 180 day window for our ADRs. I’ll admit, I really didn’t give it much thought. Marisa even contacted me to let me know she’d many any plans we wanted, and I told her I’d have to think about it, because I just didn’t have a clue. Since this was supposed to be a “budget” trip…..well, budget compared to what we’ve been used to, I knew that eating out at a lot of TS restaurants wasn’t going to work. Thankfully DD is past the age that Princesses rule, so there were no coveted Princess meals to attend. And I knew that the dining plan wasn’t going to be a go for us either. It’s just too much food for us, especially in August when it’s hot. Maybe it would work in December, but when it’s hot, we hardly eat. In the end, I decided on Yak & Yeti (since that was a brand new restaurant and we’re into Asian cuisine in this house), The Plaza in MK as that was yet another new restaurant for us (and Bob and Larry’s strawberry salad swayed me big time), and last but not least Kona Café (which again is new for us). Marisa was able to get us in at the times and days we requested, without any issues really. Of course, it was still about 170 days out, so all was well!! The rest of the meals will be counter service, but I don’t really consider Disney counter service on the level of McD’s, so I’m looking forward to some great eats, and not being tied down to an ADR! A couple of days later, I made the flight reservations down to MCO. Honestly I don’t remember if they had just opened up the schedule (that was probably it). However, of course, the schedule was only opened thru August 21st or 22nd. We’re supposed to be coming home the 23rd. I decided to bit the bullet anyway and get the airfare down since at this point, oil prices were starting to climb (and it was a good thing I did)! So, $99/pp one way. I wasn’t too happy (since we paid less than that in August 2006 for round trip), but what can you do?? I certainly wasn’t going to drive!! Fast forward two months, and Southwest releases its schedule for our return flight. Minor problem here. First off, we were in Washington DC at my DSiL’s house for spring break. So while I was on her computer, I don’t know what came over me (I was more interested in getting Yankee/Orioles tickets at Camden Yards for DS and DH) but I never checked their website to see if anything was released. By the time I checked their site a couple of days later after we made it home, the eliminated the flight home I wanted to take Coming up next: Where do we stay the extra day? Should we DME it? And what to do about tickets??

| WIth all the luck you're having surrounding this trip (awesome PIN code, Uncle Sam & DH's bonus paying for everything), I'd definitely buy a lotto ticket while I was down there!! I find it fascinating that since I landed my own BB promo for our December trip, I've been inundated with FIVE pin codes since then!! That's Murphy's Law for me though-I never get something when I need it, only AFTER the fact! ![]() We are the same way with when it's hot we don't eat alot-and being a lover of the dining plan, it would be hard for us to take a family trip during the hotter months. We'd probably do CS the entire time, save for one or two TS meals for treats. I had a great meal @ Kona on my arrival day in May; but be wary of alot of spices unless you can handle them and/or don't have digestive issues like I do. I couldn't finish my wonderful hamburger because it had been doused with salt & pepper; two things I can't stand on a burger. The Kilhuea Torte was to die for though!! Can't wait to hear the rest of your plans-hurry baaaaaaack please!! |
