Hilton Head Island is great. We went from 2/28 to 3/7. It happen to be during a cold spell. The storm that dumped 6 inches of snow in Charlotte, dropped soaking rains and cold to HHI. It was in the 40's for most of the week, so there was no beach time. We stayed inside and played games with the kids. It warmed up by Thursday and we were able to enjoy the outdoors.

This is our 4th visit to HHI. Our first visit we stayed at Disney. It was beautiful. The room was clean, the workers were great. We did have an issue with the shower and the maintenance could not quickly fix it. They moved us to another room, and gave us a $100 credit towards the room. There are lots of activities for the kids there. The only down side is it is not on the beach. Their beach front property is across a busy street (no walking). There is a pool, and a restaurant for guests and a shuttle to bring you. When we were there the beginning of March the pool and restaurant was closed.

Our other 3 trips we stayed at Marriott properties. All ocean front. They were Grande Ocean, Surf Watch, and Barony. All beautiful, clean, great properties. Surf Watch is a newer one, and Barony an older. Grande Ocean is a few years old. None showed any wear, they all looked brand new. All have childrens activities, although Surf Watch seemed to have the best. Grande Ocean and Barony were limited. Maybe it is the time of year. All have indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, kids pools, poolside bar. Surf Watch had a beachfront pool, but we never used it.

The island itself is beautiful. The bike paths are great. This last visit we went on a 16 mile bike trip that was great. There are lots of shopping opportunities from outlets to WalMart to the typical tourist stores and an upscale mall. Kayaking would be an option, but my kids are still too young. Renting a boat or taking a dolphine cruise.

Great time!

Very sad to see this happen.

We had a great vacation, but I am not too excited to go running back. It seems like the magic has been taken away from Disney.
you missed the Dmagic on your trip! Hope the good outweighed the bad, though!

for the review!

Yes please! I would love to hear about your stay at Hilton Head also. Did you stay at the DVC resort there? We are thinking about a vacation there or Vero Beach DVC.
