The "I'm Stuck on Figuring Out a Title for my Trip Report" Trip Report - UPDATED 7/5
After having my computer crash and losing 2500 photos, which caused me to totally give up the TR, making me become one of “those people”, I wasn’t going to write a trip report this year. However, we’re one day away from leaving and the URGE hit me! So, here I am. I’m having a hard time starting, so in my own way of doing things, I’m going to ramble.
We were originally going to take our trip in November because this year Disney launched it’s All About Me Celebration. This trip was going to be called All About Me anyway, so this was perfect!
Oh, I guess it’s called What Will You Celebrate? Anyway, we had a very cold winter and on our way home from H&R Block in the negative 8 temperature(brr!), knowing we were getting a fat refund, I said, “Dear, couldn’t we go back to WDW sooner?” ......
My DH, Ben, says “Well to be honest, I would like to get back before November!”
Well that was really all it took. We started jabbering away and making plans. Firstly, we had to call Member Services and see where we could book with only 200 points and 6 people. We knew our dates were for sometime during the first part of June, but not the first week. We had some days of school to make up and there was a good chance we’d have to go into June, so that wasn’t doable.
Luck was on our side and we booked two studios for a 6 nights at SSR starting June 13. Well there were many, many changes to come about (of course!) because I wholeheartedly think that you cannot plan a trip to WDW without changing your mind at least 100 times.
It was that night that I realized that we were going to be down there the same time as my friend and former boss, Dorthy, and her family would be at Pop Century. Yours truly helped them book that one! I called Dorthy up and told her the good news!! She did cartwheels around her living room the only way a 77 year old woman can! I this lady, she is a great friend.
We were all planned and everything was set. All the ADRs were made in March, for 6 people, a couple for 7 or 8 and one for 14!! Then one day in April I questioned the older two, are you guys sure you want to go? Josh was adamant and said Oh YEAH, I’m going. Carlee threw me for a loop and said “would you be mad at me if I didn’t go?” I said no I wouldn’t be mad because I’m not going to force someone to go to WDW and have a good time. Carlee said “I don’t want to sound ungrateful, but I don’t think I need to go every time we go.” Where did this maturity come from? I was so proud of her! I gave her another week to think about it and when that was over, and she hadn’t changed her mind, I cancelled her flight, got the credit, took her off the reservations and dining plans.
So this would be a good time to introduce who is going: Me, Princess Wendy age 34.
(thanks cheryl for the photo)
Ben, My Guy, age 44. notice the bib overalls? It was flippin cold! Eight Below!(oh wait, isn’t that a movie? )
Josh, my oldest boy and the shrimp of the family, age 14.
Michael, my youngest boy, and the charmer of the family, age 6 Gabby, oh how to describe my dear Gabby? Oh yeah. She’s a Mini Me, age 4 (ha ha, look at the TV and you'll see a scene from Robin Hood Men in Tights(tight tights!)
A couple of extra photos just because I am a ham and I love to see myself. Awwww
Just like to show off my kids. Oh hey ANN!!!!! Notice Joshua. Now imagine him next to you.
See, I told you Josh was the Shrimp of the family!
Gabby is also a ham(told ya she's a mini me!)
And lastly, and I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE SHE ISN'T GOING!!
Is my beautiful oldest DD, Carlee, age 13
this is her at age 12 actually before she became a teenager
and here she is after I put "her face on" for her first jr. high dance this year
June 12, Grand Floridian. Paid for Landscape View at AP rate= $374 tax included. Logged on My Reservation on Sunday and saw we’ve been upgraded to a MAGIC KINGDOM VIEW! So that makes me AP discount PRICELESS actually!
June 13: Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani 1 bedroom Standard View, 50 points. It was all I had the points for and it sleeps 5! I’m delighted to try it out for even 1 night! Regular Dining Plan.
June 14: Old Key West 2 bedroom, 150 points(5 nights). I’ll take it! After last year, I think it is safe to say that OKW is our very favorite of the DVC resorts. The rooms are so US. We love, love, love the huge porch with the table and chairs and ceiling fan! Regular Dining Plan
Meets: There are a lot of PassPorters who are going to be down at WDW during this time, but being the shy person(and not having Cheryl along), I didn’t set up many. I do have special time scheduled with Sheri(skateycat)who is one of my favorite PassPorter Challenger buddies. We’re going to tour the MK together on Saturday! Sheri!
We will be seeing Miss Amy(iamgrumpy) a time(or dozen). I can’t really call this a meet, it’s just a given!!
I am hoping to run into several PassPorters. Please, if you see us coming, don’t scream and run for cover!
Dining choices: June 12, Friday is out of pocket. T-Rex for lunch and then Quick Service some where along the monorail. June 13, Saturday, Sanaa at 5:25pm with Sheri June 14, Sunday DDP Crystal Palace at 7:30pm for 14 June 15, Monday PSB 8:25amJune 16, Tuesday Cape May Café 6:05pm(first time for supper!) June 17, Wednesday Olivia’s 5:15pm June 18, Thursday Hollywood and Vine Play and Dine 11:15am June 19, Goods to Go or other Quick Service Sadly, then we have the food at the airport for supper!
We don’t have a huge amount of plans. We like to keep it low key and laid back. We might be able to hit an evening EMH a couple of times, but that just depends on if we want to or not. We know it’s hot and humid down there and we’ll just go by how the kids(and me) feel.
I really wish I could meet your family...but I am sure you will be back when i am actually in state.
I am a shy passporter as well...I get really scared before meets.
I noticed your countdown in Chez's TR and saw it was only at 1 day I'm glad you decided to do a TR for this trip! You are staying at such nice resorts! I'm curious though, is it a pain to keep switching? Looking forward to hearing all about it. . . . .
