| Ohhhh MAN! ![]() Day 1: September 21st, 2009 Our day will start bright and early - well, maybe not bright, unless you count the moon! At about 3 am, we'll stagger out of bed and start the drive to Atlantic City. This won't be the first time I've driven to Atlantic City in the middle of the night, but most of the time it's because I can't sleep and I'm bored. Last year was my first time at Atlantic City airport. It was better than people had described. Going by people's descriptions, I was expecting nothing more than an oversized barn in a large parking lot. It was decently sized. There were free little buses to take you from long-term parking to the terminal. In the terminal, there was little line in security being so early. We went right on through. Hopefully it'll go so smoothly this year. We'll go upstairs, grab something to eat, and dry heave on some Airborne. Seriously, do any of you drink that? If so, HOW?! It was awful. I almost threw up all over the place the first time I tasted it. ![]() NOT. APPETIZING. Those little chunks of nastiness each ate a little piece of my soul every inch they traveled down my throat. However, we choked it down and were fine. On the way back, I refused to drink it, and we each were sick for a week. It might have been a coincidence, but we'll suffer through drinking it again just to be safe. We're due to land about 8ish, take DME to POP. We made the same requests as the room that we had last year, so hopefully we'll get lucky and get close to what we ask for. ![]() That was the view from our room last year. We'll get to Pop probably a little before 10ish, check in, and leave our carry-ons with luggage services. Which brings me to #1 on the "Things I'll Never Do Again" list. Last year, when we arrived back in our room and opened our suitcases, I'd received a notice from TSA that they searched my bag. No big deal, I've nothing to hide. However, on the way home, I received the same note...along with a big puddle of bright pink Pepto. I'd bought some nice sleepwear to wear on vacation, and they were totally ruined. I didn't have any liquids in my carry-on last year; I put everything in a big ziploc bag in my checked suitcase. Whoever inspected it on the trip home apparently decided it was better to open up my ziploc bag, open up the bottle of Pepto, and do some laundry with it. Since I couldn't furnish any receipts to prove the value of the clothes (including a really nice pair of black heels), I had no luck with filing a claim ![]() . So, #1 Thing I'll Never Do Again: Bring any kind of staining liquid. I'll buy it down there. Even if it's more expensive, it's cheaper than replacing a whole part of a wardrobe.DBF and I both are very traditional. We like doing the same things we'd done in the past, within reason. So we're going to attempt for at least our first day to closely follow the first day of our trip last year. After we leave our luggage, we'll head off to..... ![]() Magic Kingdom!! As SOON as I get in front of it, I'll know that I'm officially IN Disney. We'll go down Main Street, get our first PhotoPass picture taken (I plan on pre-ordering the CD once I get a little $$), and that brings me to #1 on the Things I Won't Miss This Year list. Last year, we came up to the castle about halfway through one of the Dream Along with Mickey shows. Since it had already started I elected to not bother trying to watch it. My logic was, we'll be here another 12 days, we'll catch it again. HA! Never saw it again. So if not on the first day, at SOME point this trip, I'd like to see that show. But, assuming it will be on some other day, the first attraction we'll beeline to is....... ![]() The Haunted Mansion! I love this ride. It very well might be my favorite Magic Kingdom Ride. If every single ride in Disney was down, I could ride this one day in and day out for the whole length of the trip and be happy as can be. Every time I ride it, I notice something new. I've got nothing but for that ride. We'll wander around Fantasyland a bit (Maybe I can convince DBF to ride Dumbo with me this year?), making sure to watch Philharmagic. I love it, and Donald is DBF's favorite, so he might love it even more than I do. Oh, last year I attempted to boycott the Winnie the Pooh ride. One of the only things I remember from my first Disney trips is riding Mr. Toad with my dad, countless times. Those are some of my favorite memories. Not even Disney memories, just overall lifetime memories, and they tore him down. Eventually, DBF wore me down. Actually....we didn't ride him on the first day, so I probably was just scared that he'd give me another "accidental" chemical burn and I went along with it. He could've said "We should go over Niagra Falls in a barrell" and not only would I have done it, I would've gotten him a barrell to put me in. But, barring any physical abuse this trip, I might take up my boycott again. After wandering around Fantasyland, we'll stop for lunch (or late breakfast, it probably will still be before noon) at Columbia Harbour House . I was pleasantly surprised with it last year. Living on the Jersey Shore, we get to be pretty picky about where we order seafood, since just about anyone can open up a seafood restaurant. We try to steer clear of places named Haddock House, Tuna Town, Fred's Fish Shack and Piranha Party. I was a little iffy about a place named Harbour House, but it was actually very nice. Even though we both ordered chicken ![]() We sat upstairs, and started a little game that we played throughout the trip. We looked out and started to count 1) the number of girls who had gone to BBB and 2) the number of newlyweds wearing the bride/groom ears. The numbers on some days were pretty high. After lunch/breakfast/most likely not-fish, we'll go to Frontierland, then Tomorrowland. After winning Buzz Lightyear (he only beat me once last year, and that was when my gun was literally dead Tonight there are both Spectromagic and Wishes. I missed Spectromagic last trip - so that's #2 on the Things I Won't Miss This Year list. This year, I know that Planet Hollywood is NOT the first bus stop of DTD. This year, since I have that knowledge, when DBF says "Oh we can just get out here and walk, it isn't that far" I know that I CAN kick him without guilt, because it really IS far!! In fact, that's listed as The Worst Thing Today for that day in my last year's Passporter: "Our march of death to Planet Hollywood." I don't know how late we'll stay out, but it'll probably be pretty late since DBF and I are night owls anyway, plus we'll just have napped. All in all, I'm looking forward to our first day the most.Oh, also, somewhere in the first day is a surprise for DBF, but I can't say what it is yet Day 2: September 22nd, 2009 Today is Layla's 3rd Birthday!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My poor Layla. I'm going to miss her so much I feel so bad I'll miss her birthday, but I'll probably celebrate it when we come back. I plan on taking her to Applebee's Carside To Go and getting her a nice steak. We don't have any ADRs set for today. DBF mentioned going to Hollywood Studio's, but I don't know if that's an absolute plan yet. However, at night is our first night at MNSSHP!!! We went last year, and LOVED it. I was looking at a woman's scrapbook in Passporter's scrapbooking forum and she had a spread of her meeting Eeyore and Pooh, IN THEIR COSTUMES!!! I saw them in the parade but I didn't know that they were out and about! The only characters that we saw were Mad Hatter (he's a nut and a half) and Mr. Walrus. Mr. Walrus "pretended" to steal my autograph pen. I "pretended" to almost knee him in his what-nots. He dropped the pen. ![]() So I'll be on a mission to find some characters, particularly my Eeyore! Let Character Stalking '09 begin!! ![]() ![]() Last edited by Wolfy6688; 08-26-2009 at 01:27 AM.. |

| Oh wow, Airborne does not look appetising to me... : Sorry about the repairs - not good to be spending money before a Disney vacation. ![]()

| Sounds good so far. I thought Airborne came in a pill or tablet form as well - No? If so that might be easier to swallow. Maybe not. I just looked it up and it is in tablet form, but you drop it in liquid. I thought you just took the tablet.

| Unfortunately, that's what it is - tablets that dissolve in water. That's what the one I had was. Horrible, horrible. If it was just a tablet you swallow, it wouldn't have been bad at all. |

| Airborne looks nasty! I don't know if I would have been able to choke that down. Anyway your plans are looking great so far. I love doing MK on the first day too. It really makes it real that you are in the World!

| My son and I did airborned before going to DC last year and it was every bit as nasty as it looks. For what ever reason we didn't do it when we went to Disney last year, but thankfuly no one got sick! We are probably gonna drive this year; so I doubt we do. I'm not sure I could get the little ones to drink it anyhow!
