Just catching up, Cam. What a fabulous gift this bonus trip is shaping up to be! MNSSHP and Hallo-Wishes are my favorite and I wish my family could get back there, too!

Besides all the crazy conspiring to get this trip off the ground, I had ordered Stefanie an autograph book and lanyard from Disney Online. While I awaited the arrival of the package the weekend before school started, I made a 12 x 12 poster page to announce to Stefanie that she was going to WDW. To camouflage my true mission, I made a 12 x 12 poster for my classroom door. In fact I created my very first Cricut figures – two very neat 6 inch Mickey Mouses. Stefanie watched the whole process and kept telling me frequently that one of these had to be for her because she wanted one of these to be for her. As the week progressed, I kept tracking the surprise package from Disney Online, and had sort of expected it to arrive on Friday (August 17), but it didn’t.

Saturday we were very busy cleaning house for most of the morning as this was my first full week back at work and things had gotten behind at home. But I was able to sneak out when I saw the mail delivered because I just knew it had to come today, so that I could finally let Stefanie in on the big secret. I had a gift bag and tissue in my closet and as soon as I could I snuck in to wrap everything up. But somehow Stefanie was sensing that something was up and began knocking on the door. So I had to hide the present and then enlist Luke for some help distracting her until I had everything set up. Luke didn’t even know that the mail had arrived, but he quickly set out to distract the kiddo. I had printed off the final piece of the poster and glued it down early in the morning while Stefanie still slept. I know strategically placed the poster and gift bag on the couch since Stefanie was occupied in her room by Luke.

Finally, I let Luke know all was ready. He came back as though nothing was up and sat at the computer to supposedly work on the banking. She eventually wandered back in and noticed I had the camera out. She was definitely suspicious all over again.

Of course, she wanted to open the package first, but I insisted that she read the message first.




Stefanie’s reading is very low and I had tried to make sure that the words I chose were ones she could read herself, but in my excitement to create a really cool poster, I used the Walt Disney font and that made reading a bit difficult for her. She did manage to get the message though.











And then finally at this point, she stopped reading for a moment, turned to me, and said, “We’re going in OCTOBER! OCTOBER! We’re going in OCTOBER! “

Then I let her at the gift bag and she was so happy to have her Tinker Bell autograph book in hand.



She almost immediately put both the autograph book and lanyard in her Tinker Bell backpack that she carries on the plane.

Every day since the reveal she has talked practically non-stop about going to Disney in October.

As a back story, a few days before the reveal a Disney Visa Reward Card brochure came that told about several upcoming events at WDW, including MNSSHP. Stefanie had looked at it while we ate lunch. She turned to Luke and me, and said, “I want to do this someday.” When we both gave her a funny look, she said, “I know we can’t until you retire, but I really want to go.” I almost told her then.

What a reveal!! I love the way you set it up, and it was fun that Stefanie didn't have a clue about what was going on...and yet she knew something was up!!
I just can't imagine how excited she must be.... actually, all of you must be!

Oh sweet! I had a grin splitting my face as I read your setup. I was actually bouncing in my seat when Stefanie knocked on your door and then gave you that look...I don't know how you didn't bust wide open!

It is so funny how her curiosity just told her that something was going on .... You and Luke are so great and creative - as she really does keep you both on your toes!!! I'm glad that the reveal went well..... Can't wait to read more.....
