Our Month in Florida, Ft. Lauderdale, Key West, Cocoa Beach and WDW!

August 02 - Aug 29, 2009!

Cast: me, DD 24, and DD 19 who meets up with us part way thru.

Aug 2: Well I decided to try doing a TR, don't know if I'm any good at this but thought I'd give it a whirl!
We left 8/2 for the 3 hr. drive to Seattle, with a stop at Premium Outlets of course. My car just veers into the parking lot all by its self, what could I do? Sadly nothing called my name so w continued on to Springhill Suites for our overnight stay before 6AM flight to Ft. Lauderdale Fortunately there is a Bahama Breeze quite near our hotel for dinner!

Aug 3: Wow 3:30 A.M. comes early! We manage to get ourselves up, and downstairs for our 4:00 A.M. airport shuttle, but yikes, Front Desk has no record of one being ordered. Which I did of course when I checked in. Oops! So they ordered me a cab, and payed for it.
We got to Ft. Lauderdale without mishap! But the Car Rental counters were nuts We had res. with Dollar and Budget. I'm glad I kept the back up with Budget cause Dollar was awful. I reserved a mid-size with 3 peoples luggage to transport from Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando, we need something with trunk room. Dollar was going to give us a Mustang or PT Cruiser for a mid size, neither of which has any trunk room at all So off to Budget I went, and ended up with a Saturn View SUV loads of luggage room! Got to my mom's condo with a stop to Publix for supplies! Then a swim in the pool to relax! We are finally there! IMG_1668.jpg

Well I must say you had better luck with Budget than us. I too reserved an intermediate, and was going to get a PT Cruiser or HHR, both of which I knew didn't have enough trunk space. He gave us a Corolla instead, which we BARELY fit everything!

More please!

Sometimes their idea of a mid size is very weird. They can call whatever they want a mid size, but doesn't mean it is Sorry you didn't have good luck with Budget. I've always had good luck with the rental counter in Ft. Lauderdale Airport, we usually drive up to WDW from there, and return home from MCO.

Taking care of business! Mom no longer lives in her condo unit, we had to move her a couple of years ago to assisted living. So the condo sits empty, except when me & family comes down to visit. Soooo, I am renting it to a cousin. Part of the reason I'm down in Fla. Getting condo ready for renting. Today I had appt. with air-conditioner and dry wall guys. Need a new air conditioner unit and have to repair ceiling around vent. Went to Walmart to get some stuff for mom, and had a visit with her. Came back to condo for a late swim, and some dinner. Phoned PPer Lorraine, who lives near by to make plans to meet, then went to bed. Not used to time change yet!
Aug 5
Visited mom and took her out for Pie & coffee at a nearby dinner, Lesters, that has fab. desserts! Key Lime Pie for me I don't get it at home, so I order it every chance I get in Florida! Low Pressure system headed this way the weather man says. Heard thunder, but so far nada for rain. Not that I'm complaining! Went out for Italian with DD & cousin! The early bird special was on until 8:00 pm

Okay...
Can't go any further without saying - take the Mustang!!!!
Are you crazy?!

One time I ordered the cheapest car from Budget - arrived late at night and they had nothing in my category all the way up to - a Mustang!!! I was in heaven! Of course, there were only 2 of us, but still!

Okay...I can move on now.

Bahama Breeze. Ummm...did you have coconut shrimp for me?
So glad the hotel paid for your cab!
We'll just move right on by that SUV thing.
I how you hopped into the pool! That's definitely something I would do!

And , your trip report is great so far.
(Although I'm dreading the post about a certain evil snack.)

I know, I know!! My dd (19) almost killed me when she came down and heard I could have had a Mustang!! Wasn't the convertable though. But 3 sets of luggage, plus 3 roller carry-ons, mmmm no room. If it was just 2 of us, heck yes, I'd take the mustang!! With the long drive from Lauderdale to Cocoa Beach, and then Orlando it would have been brutal! But it wouldn't have been me with the luggage stacked on my lap
Would it help if I told you I had a M Bar too?

One month was pretty nice! I'm lucky I am off work during summer. And DH didn't mind. It didn't seem like a month I guess because we were bouncing around the state so much, it broke it up and time just flew.
