| "Roll Me Outta Here!" A Girls Only Trip on the DxDDP. . .Updated 10/23 Yay, time for my first trip report!! For those who would like to know who I am and who my travel companions are I suggest my PTR here: No husbands, no boyfriends, no babies, no problem! – PTR And without further ado… Roll Me Outta Here! A Girls Only Trip on the DxDDP. Day One, Wednesday: Our flight was scheduled to leave Hartford at 7:10am, which meant that all three of us had to be at the airport around 6am, so we slept over at Christina’s house the night before since she’s only about 30 minutes from the airport (I live about an hour away and Renee is 3 hours away in PA). It was an early wake-up call at 4am (yawn!) but just like the little kid in the commercial I was “too excited to sleep!”. We made it to the airport without any problems and parked in the long-term lot then hopped the shuttle over to the terminal where we grabbed some McD’s for breakfast and coffee, which as we all know is the important part. Our flight left on time and we landed in Orlando a short 3 hours later where we stepped outside to board our DME bus and were smacked in the face by the 95 degree heat and humidity. Wow, this is the reason I don’t go to WDW in the summer! But, the bus was blessedly cool and soon we were making our way to Pop Century, yay! I had done the online check-in and there was ZERO line in the lobby so our registration was very smooth. I had requested 50’s, Lady building, top floor away from the smoking area. Unfortunately when we got there the 4th level room wasn’t ready…but, they had a room ready on the 2nd floor of the building if we wanted that one. At that point we just wanted to change and get some lunch so we took it and headed over to our room 1237, which was the very last room on that wing overlooking the parking lot. I have to say we didn’t hear ANYTHING while we were there. The occasional toilet flush overhead, but nothing that disturbed our sleep, so a big thumbs up on that. We explored our pool area a bit and then got on the bus for our first park, Magic Kingdom. ![]() ![]() When we got to MK I went to Guest Services to try and upgrade my PH to an AP, but the lovely lady I spoke with told me I should wait until my last day because upgrading the ticket could mess up our dining plan credits. Defeated momentarily we decided it was time to try out said dining credits and we headed over to Casey’s for some lunch. We each got the Corn Dog Nugget meal (C&R had fries, I had apples, C&I got the brownie and Renee had the crackerjacks) and the total was $26.33. No pictures because I forgot and we were starved. But, everything was good and who doesn’t love some corn dogs? ![]() After lunch we caught some of Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It!, and then headed towards Adventureland. Our first stop, the Jungle Cruise! Our Jungle Guide, Luke, was hilarious and decided he wanted in on the picture taking. After our cruise we went on PotC, where we got stuck in our boat right at the end of the ride for about 10 minutes because apparently one of the boats got off track. ![]() ![]() ![]() Next we were off to ride some coasters, except the wait for Splash Mountain was WAY too long so we decided to ride BTMRR instead since we knew we could catch SM on our MNSSHP night. ![]() And here is my favorite photo of the day: ![]() A quick stop for some more photos, and then it was time for Haunted Mansion, IASW, and Philharmagic. ![]() ![]() ![]() Our “front of the castle” pic on the way out of MK to head towards our dinner reservation at California Grill. ![]() Our views: ![]() ![]() ![]() Apps: Renee had the Sashimi, I had the Heirloom Tomato with Buffalo Mozzarella salad, and Christina had the Maine Lobster Risotto. They both said they loved their apps and my salad was delicious! Though, I wish there was another slice or 2 of mozzarella. ![]() ![]() ![]() Entrees: For our main courses we all had the Seared Ostrich Filet which was FABULOUS! So tender and wonderful. The potatoes were the perfect smoothness and the mushrooms added enough earthiness to balance the sweetness of the figs. If anyone goes and this is on the menu, get it! This was our absolutely favorite meal of the whole trip. ![]() Desert included a chocolate cake with peaches for Renee and Christina and I both had the apple cobbler. All of which was yummy even if we could only eat a few bites because we were so full. Total cost: $222 ![]() ![]() After dinner we headed back to MK for Spectromagic and Wishes. We also tried on some hats in between the parade and fireworks. After Wishes, during which I totally cried, we headed back to Pop for some much needed sleep. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The weather today was hot and humid. The best thing today was arriving in Disney! The worst thing today was the heat and humidity (and the start of my blister issues). The funniest thing today was the picture we took of Renee on BTMRR. Today we tried ostrich steaks and the result was that they were amazingly delicious! The most magical moment today was watching Wishes on Main Street. | Day Two, Thursday This morning we were up at 6:30am in order to make our 8:05am reservation at 1900 Park Faire for our first character breakfast. We enjoyed the buffet here, we felt the selection was very nice and the line wasn’t long at all. We were the first table the characters came to which was nice as well. We saw Pooh, Tigger, Alice, The Mad Hatter, and Mary Poppins. Though I think our interaction with the Hatter was the best, when he came out he and I had a poke-war until I declared defeat! LOL Total cost: $67 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We looked around the GF lobby, though a lot of it was under refurb so it was hard to form an opinion other than it was very bright and airy. From the GF we headed towards Hollywood Studios. First stop, Toy Story Midway Mania. The stand-by line was only about 20 minutes long so we grabbed some FPs (which we didn’t end up using) and then waited in line. I have to agree with everyone else, SO MUCH FUN!! I could have ridden again but our FP time was during our lunch reservation and C&R didn’t want to wait in line again. ![]() ![]() On the way to Tower of Terror: ![]() We did ToT (awesome as always, though Christina freaked out a bit) and then we were going to ride RnRC but the line was too long and it was too soon for us to FP it so we watched the Beauty and the Beast Show. Afterwards we headed towards the Great Movie Ride but after standing in line for 20 minutes and not getting very far we decided to ditch it and headed to 50’s Primetime for our lunch reservation. Apps: We all had the shrimp cocktail which was perfect. The shrimp had a good texture (not limp or slimy like they can be if they’ve sat too long). ![]() Entrée: C&R had the fish sandwich which they both said was good, not too greasy. I had the Caesar Salad with Salmon, also yummy. The salmon was nicely grilled, though the salad had a little too much dressing on it for my taste. ![]() ![]() Desert: C&R had the Celebration Brownie Sundaes which as you can see, are HUGE. I had the ice cream sundae with strawberry sauce, yumm-o. Again, we were stuffed! Total cost: $105 ![]() ![]() After lunch we let our tummies settle watching the Indiana Jones Stunt Show before heading over to Star Tours. Now, for some reason Star Tours doesn’t bother my motion sickness at all, but poor Christina was positively pale by the time we got off. We stopped for a potty break and came out to some light rain. No problem we said, and huddled under my umbrella and headed toward RnRC to use the FPs we grabbed earlier. About halfway there it started to DELUGE. It didn’t matter that we had an umbrella, we were soaked! I am talking head to toe, sock and shoes, sodden wet. And this is where we learned an important lesson…wet sock and shoes=big bad blisters on your feet L But, we soldier on, because not even pain can stop the Disney magic! Know what’s awesome? Riding RnRC soaking wet. It’s like a huge wind tunnel that dries your front a bit while making you FREEZING cold, lol But, still fun and probably our favorite coaster ride of the entire trip. After the ride we wandered around shopping and buying ourselves some dry clothes to change into before our dinner reservations at Brown Derby. ![]() Apps: Christina and Renee had the Roasted Squash Bisque, and I had the Crab Cake which was yumm-o. Loved the potato crust and the slaw was great. ![]() ![]() Entrée: C&R had the Duck Two Ways which they both enjoyed. I had the Half Roasted Chicken, also good but I could only eat about ½ of it because I just wasn’t all that hungry. ![]() ![]() Desert: I had the Crème Brulee, I love me some custard so I have no complaints. Christina had the Grapefruit cake which she liked but said it was very citrusy. Renee had the Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower and said it was good but not what she was expecting. Total cost: $150. ![]() ![]() ![]() After dinner we headed to the early showing of Fantasmic. Of course, being 20 minutes before show time it was standing room only which was a bummer, but better than not seeing it at all! Now I wish I had done the package and maybe we would have gotten seats. I really enjoyed the show, it was the first time any of us had ever seen it and I loved the water effects. After the show we headed back to Pop so I could give my poor feet a rest and time to dry out…except we ended up in the Bowling Pin pool so I guess drying off would have to wait. The weather today was hot, humid, and WET. The best thing today was riding Rockin’ Rollercoaster. The worst thing today was getting soaking wet. The funniest thing today was Renee jumping and splashing in puddles like a little kid. Today we tried Fantasmic! and the result was that it was a great show but we wish we had seats. The most magical moment today was meeting Mary Poppins at breakfast (Renee’s fav character). |

| Sounds like a great start to your trip. Your dinner at CG looked amazing. Glad you were able to enjoy the fireworks and Spectro on your first night. Sorry about the hot, humid weather and the rain but it sounds like nothing is stopping your trio. What a great day at DHS and wonderful meals.
