So, who knew the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge would be so popular? What a blow to my ego when we could not get a reservation and had to defer to the Beach Club Villas. How bad could it be, they've got a nice pool. right? The old school Disney part of me is a diehard Bay Lake resort person, that was Disney growing up and it's what we know. The Lodge is our favorite place, we know those folks, they know us, it's comfortable. Also, we grew up in Florida so a beach themed resort holds ZERO appeal for us. However, a resort built to resemble Lincoln Logs in the middle of a swamp....now that rocks in our book!!!!! I'm a big dork and I"m willing to admit that I cry like a baby every time I walk into the Lodge. DH agrees with me on this too.
Ok, enough gushing over the Wilderness Lodge. We don't want the Beach Club to feel bad. It looks like a very nice place. Really, it does. A bit to beachy for me, but we'll go with an open mind. Honest.
Since, my last post I had lots of plans to book dinning, Cirq tickets, have a rough outline of our itinerary done, etc... Not one of those things has happened. However, life has happened and it has been just shy of nutty here. Our son is a swimmer and has lots of practices at amazingly early hours of the morning, couple that with work and throw in a few swim meets and nothing gets done. If I wasn't doing one of the previously mentioned activities, laundry or shopping for food for our bottomless pit (aka swimming son), I was sleeping. I love sleep and miss it a bunch in the summer.
I do have a list of things I would like to do during this trip. Here they are.
Relax poolside with adult beverages....repeat as often as allowed
Candlelight Processional
Cirq du Solei
Dine at Boma, California Grille and Crystal Palace
Visit the Spa
Visit all the resorts and see the Christmas displays
Osborne Lights
maybe play some golf
more relaxing
I know I need to get moving on this stuff. Life is just kicking my butt right now. Forward progress will be made soon. I will have much more to report in my next update, which will be sooner rather than later cause the news is almost to exciting to not share right now.
Next update: DH adds a full twist and makes a dream come true.....it's gonna be HUGE!
I agree with you about the resort. I am from Cape Cod, and so not interested in the BC. I have seen some beautiful pics from Cam's TR, but it looks like every resort here on CC truthfully. I don't think it's a resort I would ever choose, if I was DVC, LOL.
Sounds like great plans so far! Can't wait to hear what DH has planned! Hurry back with more please!
I was a little concerned about staying at BC this past June as my top 2 resorts have always been AKL and WL and we have stayed at this two most since we became DVC members. But I also loved BC and plan on many more stays there.
Looking forward to reading more about your upcoming trip. I am sure that your father's legacy will allow you to enjoy and thoroughly embrace the magic of Disney as only he could have. Enjoy your trip, relive as many of the magical memories your father helped create for you and your family, and make as many new ones as you can. You are going at a wonderful time of year! I cannot wait to hear about the HUGE dream/twist!
