I’m in need of a little Magic
I’ve been in the process of planning a Disney vacation for about two years. My DH decided to give me a trip to Disney World for Christmas back in 2008. Now he made up the cutest sign that was an IOU for a Disney trip in 2010. Who in their right mind gives a person a wonderful Disney vacation for Christmas but then tells them they can’t use it for at least 13 months, that ranks right up there with giving a vacuum cleaner for a gift. I guess DH does, now granted we had gotten back from a wonderful Disney Cruise only 10 days before this and I got several other nice things but how was I going to wait forever for my next Disney fix.
Well, fast forward to December of 2009, when my dear DH had to bid vacation days for 2010 he tells me why don’t we go to Disney in December? December, are you kidding me? I’ve already waited 13 months for this trip now you want me to wait another 12 months? Then he showed me the travel channel show with all of the Christmas stuff and I was hooked. So what’s another 12 months GULP, I can wait right?
So, I booked a wonderful vacation for December, I’ve made my ADR’s etc. etc. etc, for my December trip, so now what?
It’s been a tough year, I’ve taken care of my DFIL, while he underwent radiation treatments, I’ve taken care of my DF, who is declining quickly with COPD. I lost a job, God’s way of making time for me to care for the ‘dad’s’ Now, my wonderful, beautiful daughter has to start physical therapy because she has been limping and has no muscle strength in her left leg. These have all created a void of magic that has been gnawing at me and needs to be filled ASAP.
So, I’ll fill that void by taking another Disney vacation in 10 days just dd and I, originally DH said no, no, no. the next day he said how can you do that, finally today he said ok. (He was just being sarcastic, but that is not my fault, he said okay, I’m taking it) So, I got the quote and started planning for me and DD to go, I announce my plans and he said, you know I just really want to go too, but it will be so much more expensive. I said give me a minute to do some figures, if we use our Give a Day Get a Day vouchers now instead of December then we can save about 200.00, I will ask for a day at the parks as a birthday present from my parents. I got a deal on value resort with quick service dining, so all in all adding him to the trip cost about 200.00, and DD and I were going to stay off property now we can stay on property with dining yee haw. So, I booked it, and since the trip is 10 days a way he can’t say no!
Up next… The cast of characters, and their reactions.

Reason: spacing
Here is the cast of characters for this adventure: DD-Lily age 7 and ¾, the ¾ is very important, just ask her she’ll tell you. She is a beautiful, active soon to be 2nd grader. I told Lily this morning about my crazy adventure planning last night. I wish I could’ve video taped her reactions. Me-Lily, we are going to go to Disney World Lily: I know Mom, we’re going in December. Me: No, Lily we are going to go Disney World in 10 days. Her eyes just got bigger and bigger and the smile did too. She was so excited. Almost, as much as me! DH-Pat age 39 he is a wonderfully indulgent man who tolerates my Disney obsession outwardly, but inwardly he is always buying me Disney pins or supporting my obsession in other ways. He really tries to give me everything I want. We’ve been married for almost 13 years, and he works as a Police dispatcher. He is actually pretty excited for our trip, which surprises me but also makes me so happy. Me-Cassie age 39 (but I’m 4 days younger than Pat). I am a disney fanatic, aren’t we all, born and bred, My lovie when I was a child was a Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal, my favorite books were all Disney books. I have a Winnie the Pooh kitchen, hmmmmm. What else, I am currently a stay at home mom, but only since April, before that I was a Home Care Nurse. I am looking to get back in the nursing field soon. I called today and made a few requests to put on our reservation and ended up changing our booking to Pop from All Stars Music, I like the idea of not having to share a bus, plus my Pop is right up my alley, I’ve always wanted to stay there.
I hope that you and your dd have a magical time at the world

How exciting!
I am so glad that you get to go and have a wonderful time at WDW! You definitely deserve some magic!
Pop is a fun resort! I am sure you will love it there!
Now....I have a question.
Are you still going to be able to go in December????

Yes that trip is almost paid for, so this is an extra trip, positively crazy I know, but again my wonderfully indulgent husband, and the passporter have made it happen.
(In case you were wondering how passporter made this possible it is because of all of the wonderful advice I get here that I can plan such economical vacations.)
I interrupt your scheduled pre-trip report with an unexpected update. . .
Okay here we go again, now that I've called Disney Resort Reservations for the 4th time today. . .
My wonderful Hubby was just dreading the 1139 mile drive to Disney, I'm not sure why he was dreading it, he didn't make a 1000 mile drive to Austin, TX alone with my 7 year old in May! Her favorite car game is 20 questions, so I'll bet that Lily and I played about 700 rounds of 20 questions in the 4 days we were on the road.! That and having her throw up in the car while driving through the Ozarks in Missouri. ! So he decided I should check on air fare. I ended up with a good deal using some bonus points etc. So now we are Flying to Florida.
Unfortunately, the non stop flights are only offered on Tuesday and Saturday, so guess who got to call back Disney Reservations and change them yet again?
So, now we are flying out on the 27th, staying at Pop Century, and going to the parks for three days instead of two. YEA!
