We're going to Disney World! Departure planned for 2am Monday morning! Less than a week to go and we are so excited! If you haven't read my ptr, I will introduce you to our motley crew of Mickey fans:
WHO:
Me- Rosanna
DD13-Peyton
DS11-Cannon
BFF-Laura
BFF's DD15-Maggie
WHAT-Spring Break at WDW
WHEN-April 18-23
WHERE- All Star Music Resort
WHY-Because we LOVE it!
HOW-By hook or by crook (or minivan in our case)
That's the cast, I'll be back soon with the program!
Here's the plan. We pick up the van Sunday afternoon and get 'er loaded. Then we attempt to sleep. I am not optimistic because I will be so excited. Let's face it, it's still 6 days away and I already can't sleep. We are road warriors! We go into battle at 0200 (or so) Monday am. Drive while kids sleep and Laura and I sing our way down I-95. Brief stop in Jacksonville to visit another good friend and squeeze her babies (Peyton loves babies). Arrival at the happiest place on earth estimated at 2pm. Online check-in is complete, hopefully rooms will be ready and we can get in and maybe sleep an hour or two while the kids hit the pool. Next up is our first ADR. This is our first trip with the DDP and we are really looking forward to all the delicious restaurants we have previously gazed at longingly while chowing down on our umpteenth cheeseburger (don't get me wrong... cheeseburgers!) but tonight...BOMA!! 5:10 ressies. Afterward, we will either go back to our rooms and sleep like good little campers, or go to a park and ride like the demented Disney diehards that we are. Any bets on which one it will be?
Tuesday=AK. Plan to make rope drop (another new thing for us). I printed out a Ride Maxx schedule for this day and we are going to see how we do with a schedule (one made by computers, not my hyperactive go go go brain). Lunch is at Whispering Canyon Cafe because everyone says they have the best catsup. Personally, I don't know what all the fuss is about, but we are going to go get some (and bottomless milkshakes please!). Back to AK for a few more hours. The rest of the day will be a little r&r at the room, followed by some late night EMH at Epcot.
Wednesday=MK (again with the rope drop). Either going to test out left vs. right, or Ride Maxx, depending on the outcome of Tuesday's AK experiment. Play all morning, then r&r at the resort. Evening at HS. Dinner ressies at Prime Time Cafe at 7:05, followed by Fantasmic and possibly a few rides during EMH.
Thursday-HS for, you guessed it, rope drop (detecting a pattern here?). Run like the wind to TSMM for a FP and then get in line! Other than that, we will go with the flow. HS is a favorite of ours and we always have a great time there. Looking forward to checking out Starring Rolls. Something about cupcakes...CS lunch today. R&R at rooms, then back for more EMH Epcot exploration. CS dinner tonight.
Friday=MK alllllll day!!! Naturally, we are aiming for rope drop. Gonna do whatever our little hearts desire this morning. Lunch at Tony's at 1:30, then back to the rooms for packing and laundry. Want to have it all ready to go so we can sleep late Saturday cuz we will be up late tonight! Back to MK for light dinner. Ressies made for the Fireworks Dessert Buffet at 9:20. So excited about this!!!!
EMH until the wee hours of the morning.
Saturday=Check out , then breakfast at Ohana. If you have to leave, go out with a bang, right? Our traditional last minute stop at DTD to spend any $$ we might still have, then we will head north. Spending the night along the way (think we might be too tired to drive 12-14 hours). Usually, my answer to any complaints of being tired is this: "Sleep is for suckers! We are on vacation! You can sleep at home!". Has this worked out well in the past? Usually, but the last night is sometimes less that pleasant. That is why we have built in r&r every day, to try and alleviate that. Who wants to be sleepy when it's 1am and the wait for BTMR is only 10 minutes? Anyway, I digress. Stoppping along the way, then home on Sunday.
Thanks fo rreading. I welcome any comments or suggestions and will fill you in on what REALLY happens when we get back!
hope that you and your family have a magical time at the world

Wow! What a great trip! Perfect weather, great traveling buddies, and magical moments galore! So, here is the skinny on our trip. We went to pick up our rental for the drive and totally scored a brand new, completely loaded Town and Country! Went home and packed it up, then slept for about 4-5 hours until the alarm went off. All went according to plan and we were on the road by 2am. Breezed down I-95 with no delays, no speeding tickets, and didn’t see a single accident. That was a first! Hit Jacksonville about 1pm, grabbed a pizza and went to eat it at my friend’s house. Stayed long enough to squeeze her sweet little girls, scarf down lunch and back on the road by 2. By this time, I was starting to realize that 5:10 ressies at Boma were not happening as Garmin had us arriving at 4:30 and we all needed to rest a little and shower, so I called the dining line with the intention of having to cancel and pray something was available somewhere for dinner. What luck! We were able to push back our reservation until 9:10. Perfect! A little late, but we could live with that. We also had our other friend get to the resort to check in and she found that while she and Laura’s rooms were close to each other, mine was in another building. What? We requested all our rooms to be close to each other months ago! Not to fear. The CM at the counter had it all straightened out by the time we arrived and we were conveniently grouped together. All Star Music, bldg 5…waaaay in the back. The room was just as we expected, adequate for our needs, and close to the pool. A very nice CM with a golf cart kindly offered to give us a lift as we were struggling from the car with some bulky stuff, for which I was very grateful! Of course, my friend Nati said she just pulled up and unloaded all her stuff at the front and they brought it to her room. Huh? Now why didn’t I think of that? She is so clever! Anyway, all was unloaded and put away, so we hit the pool for some much needed relaxation. Then, a nice little nap, shower, and off to Boma. Okay, how gorgeous is the Animal Kingdom Lodge? Even in the dark, it was breathtaking! We checked in and were shortly seated. The food? Delish! I loved it! I don’t think I could pick a favorite thing, although the seafood gumbo they had that night was fantastic. My kids loved the chicken and the mashed potatoes, but their favorites were the corn muffins and dessert (of course)! Our server was very friendly and we all had a great time. We headed back to our room to sleep in order to be ready for our early morning call of the wild. Up next…Animal Kingdom!
Wow, I totally dropped the ball on this here PTR. Here I am starting to plan my next trip when I am not even "done" with this one. Let me see what I can remember...
Animal Kingdom. We woke up and caught the bus early in the am. I do remember sharing the bus with some delightful students. One lovely girl was kind enough to share her hand lotion with me. It smelled good and I needed some. At AK, we rushed to EE and rode it once. My BFF and DS wanted to ride again (once at a time for me...)so the rest of us headed to the Kwali River Rapids for FP. The girls had a great time observing those silly monkeys. After that, we headed over to hit up the safari. Had to wait a bit for that, but not unbearable. We also checked out Tough to be a Bug and Festival of the Lion King, which we had not done before. We had lunch ressies at WCC, so we headed out to the buses and went to lunch. WOW. We loved that lunch. The kids all got milkshakes, I got a smoothie and we settled in. The kids got burgers and BFF and I got the Canyon Skillet. We were stuffed, but still had to order dessert. The apple pie was soooo good! I think we headed back to AK for a little while, and then went back to the resort for the period we fondly dubbed "second bedtime". Power nap!
The plan for that night was Epcot for dinner of QS and some exploring.. That was an interesting night. We had the brilliant idea of getting one QS in each land and everyone sampling. Sounds good in theory, not so much in actuality. I remember we tried the school bread in Norway (yum-o!), had brats in Germany (kids shared a pretzel), and had some yumminess in Morocco, The problem was that my DS wanted a hotdog, BFF's DD wanted pizza, and my DD wanted fish and chips. Fine. No problem...except the QS place in the good ol US of A was closed...huh? Pizza was a no go, but I can't remember why. No problem, we can at least head over to the UK and get the fish and chips, right? We got there 10 minutes after they closed. Oh, brother! It was late and we were quite finished with all the walking, so we headed back to ASMusic and slept...
I'm going to go refresh my memory for what happened next! Good thing I did a pre trip report! lol!
