Bio's..................
Me (33)(Kimberly) - Love, love the Little Mermaid and anything to do with the ocean! Huge Disney fan, Mother of Cole. I work on the Military base in Jacksonville, NC and LOVE, LOVE my job!
Bobby (37) DH - My new husband! Father of Lexsie, Delivers beer! Likes his job (geez what guy wouldnt!) Disney fan since 2008
Cole (12) DS - My wonderful amazin son! This boy is my world! Loves and plays soccer and baseball, goin into the 7th grade. Loves Disney. His favs are...Phineas and Ferb, Toy Story, Cars...lots others
Lexsie (13 soon to be 14 in Aug, yay us) Daughter to Bobby and a true spoilded princess. Not even sure if she likes Disney...All she did in 2008 is stay on the phone with her Mom and complain.
Monday June 13th I booked us a Disney trip!
August 10th-18th 2012
As of right now we are stayin in the New Art of Animation in one of the Nemo Suites with the dining plan (pixies for free dining please!!!)
Of course we are to far out for the dining ressies but trust me I am workin on that! Should be ready for yalls eyes in the next couple of weeks, cause lord knows this far out...there will be changes!
I did not get us the hopper as we did not do it last time and worked just fine for us.
The plan right now is to drive down, cause flight tickets now are runnin 400.00 pp (I priced as if we are goin this year, prices are not yet out for Aug.2012)
so there is no way that I am payin 1600+ to fly! The drive is only 10 hours (I say only )
Now on with the questions.............
First......The cost with the dining and stayin in the suite is only less then 200.00 to stay in AKL (Yes the suites there are not the same price as the other Value suites).
Me and DS LOVE, LOVE AKL, as we have stayed there before.
Bobby and Lexsie have only stayed in Pop (stayed there in 2008)
The suite has 2 rooms and bathrooms.
AKL is one room one bath.
Me and DS love the food in AKL, DH and DD could care less.
Both have there own buses.
Have stayed at AKL before, should we try out the new hotel?
So the question is....As much as me and DS love the AKL, should we try out the new hotel (that I am sure will be CROWED!)
Second......We got some gift cards for the wedding from Bed, Bath and Beyond that we have not used and went last night to use but can not find anything we need. So what can we get from there to take on our trip?
Well thats all for now! But hey...........................................We are goin to Disney!!!!
I'm going to throw this out for contemplation...We've been on a trip with 2 'grown women' (once with 5 people when my oldest DD was 17 and of course, our latest trip when DD Kelley was 13 - and trust me, you can count a 13 yr. old as grown when it comes to getting ready in the morning!) More bathroom space is good. In fact, more space, whether it's bathroom or not, is good.
Plus, sometimes 'the guys' need to have a bit of privacy of their own.
Unless you all are really comfortable getting ready together in the morning, I'd opt for more the new Art of Animation over the beauty of AKL - at least for this trip.
I'm hoping to stay at AoA when I go down solo next year...if it's completed in time.
Congrats on booking your trip!! Have fun planning!
I priced a vacation for 2012 at the Art of Animation Resort and I found it to be kind of pricey. For a bit more money I could stay deluxe.
Congrats on booking your trip! I lived in Jacksonville from 1991 until 1997 and really enjoyed it there. In fact, since Disney was "only" a 10 hour drive I was there 6 times when I lived in NC! Have fun planning.
Congrats on your upcoming Trip!!!!... Happy Planning!!!!..
Thanks so much! I am lookin forward to it!

(BTW - my son is stationed at Camp Lejeune.)
I am thinkin more on the AoA and just keepin that, cause by the time we go we will only be like the third family to stay in that room if even that! Plus gotta love space, exp. with DH's kid. If yall ever come see your DS let me know, we can meet up! Stay tuned, I am gettin ready to put up an update and let yall know the dates they are goin to open!

Yes, it is very pricey for the time we are goin and addin the reg. dining and no hopper, no water parks it was over 5000.00! This why I am hopin for FREE DINING!

I have not stayed at AKL but considering the ages of your group I think a 2 bedroom/2 bath would be better than one.
I think we just might end up stayin at AoA. Gotta love 2 bathrooms!

As for Bed Bath and Beyond--my local store is also a Harmon and they sell all kinds of travel size products that you might want for your trip!
Thanks! BBB here does not have travel size stuff, maybe I could get some beach towles, cause we can always use them here!

Thanks! "Only" 10 hours! Yikes! I am not a very good traveler, I want to be there in 20 mins! But for Disney............A car it is!
I spoke to a Disney Rep. yesterday cause I needed some fixed on the ressie, and we just started talkin about if I shoule move to AKL or just stay at AoA and she started tellin me all the really cool stuff that the AoA is goin to have.....like we got the Nemo suite and she said that the way the room is designed Nemo and friends will be "swimming" around the room and it will look like you are underwater! As for the Lion King suite she was sayin there will be a "sunset" in the bathroom! She was sayn that the fiber optics are goin to be amazin! She was also tellin me when the opening of each "area" is goin to be.....such as...
Cars Suites are goin to open in July 2012
Nemo Suites are openin in August 2012
Lion King in September 2012
And the Little Mermaid standard rooms are not goin to open until December 2012
So I think for right now we are goin to stay at AoA cause in Aug. with only the Cars and Nemo open it should not be that busy and we are goin to be one of the first families to stay there!
Still would like help on, what can we buy at Bed, Bath and Beyond for our trip?
And of course Pixies for free dining!
For BBB you could buy stuff online - they have a bunch of travel stuff on there. I swear by Space Bags when I pack - fit a lot in the space and it keeps them dry if something should spill in your suitcase (like sunscreen) or caught outside in the rain.
So glad you now have a trip on the books! If DD hates it so much, why are you bringing her? Maybe you should give her the option? And say 'since you seemed so miserable last time, and we don't want to deal with that again, would you rather not go?'.
I second the vote for space bags! That's the only way we were able to pack for a three week trip to Europe last summer. Check out the BBB website!
