I woke up at 6:30 am, jumped in the shower and got ready. Then I woke up the boys and they got ready. I was extremely nervous, more than any other time I’ve travelled. My DH and kids had their breakfast but I couldn’t have a bite for the life of me. My mom was picking us up at 7:30 am so we could all be at her house. A driver would be picking us up from there in a 12 passenger van and taking us to the airport. The driver came right on time and off we went. We got to the airport at 10:30 am. Checked in for our flight and dropped off our luggage, the person on the counter told us we didn’t have to pay for the luggage . I was pretty sure it was an error but I wasn’t about to say anything because fifty extra bucks in my pocket sounded pretty good to me . We went to security and I was one of the lucky ones to go through the complete body scanner. I like to believe that is was because of my awesome body, they wanted to check if it was all real . We went to our gate and by now my nervousness was gone and it was replaced by hunger. So we got some pizza and filled our tummies . We decided to take a bathroom break before it was time to board. So as I was walking to the bathroom my mom, who was in front of me, got confused and started going into the men’s room. I said out loud, “She went into the men’s bathroom”. A young lady that was sitting there looked at me and said, “yes she did”. My mom didn’t actually go inside the bathroom but she went in the hallway leading up to the bathroom. It was so hilarious too bad I didn’t have my camera out. It would have been a great photo op.
Here are a couple of photos I took while waiting for our plane at San Juan.
DS6 and DS7 waiting for the plane to arrive.
The group minus me. (Don't ask me what's up with my DH)
We boarded the plane and were out right on time at 12:30 pm. Flight was smooth. I sat with DS11, while my DH sat a couple of rows behind with DS7 and DS6. We got some free refreshments (haven’t seen that in a while) and I decided to get coffee. Wrong choice. It was the most disgusting coffee I’ve ever tasted in my life, lesson learned never get airplane coffee . Got to Miami at 3:30 pm, we had some time to kill before our 4:30 pm flight. Departure time came and went . We finally boarded our flight at 5:45 pm, I was not a happy camper . This time I sat with DS11 and DS6. It was a very rough flight, lots of turbulence. I think it’s been the bumpiest flight I’ve ever been in.
Got to Orlando at 7:00. Went to the Thrifty counter and was there for more than half an hour. I don’t know if the clerk was new or what, but he was way slow. After getting our paperwork we were directed to the garage to pick out our car. This was new to me because last time (2008) we had to take a shuttle over to the Thrifty location. I like the way it is now, way more convenient . My DH quickly found a car that fit our needs, a Kia Optima. But my traveling companions weren’t so fast. They wasted 20 minutes of my precious time deciding on which car they wanted . My DF wanted one, my Dsis wanted another one, my Dbil wanted another one. I was fuming . My kids were tired, we were hungry and we still had to find our vacation home which was in Clermont. Finally they decided on the first car they’d considered, why didn’t they do that in the first place .
We headed off, meanwhile I was trying to get the GPS, which we had borrowed, to work but the darn thing kept giving me error when I entered the address . So we decided to follow our instincts and try to find it on our own using a map that was in a booklet given to us at Thrifty. It was easy peasy, my DH and I were so proud of ourselves . We remembered the roads from last time. We got on the 417, then exited on the 192 and from there to HW 27. We got to the community but the gate code didn’t work . A lady, a resident I’m assuming, let us in. We found our house, by this time it was 9:00 pm. We dropped off our luggage and went to the nearest fast food, Wendy’s, so we could eat. I have to say there were many meltdowns . DS6 want a frozen coffee drink, I said no so he started crying. DS7 all of a sudden got mad and decided he didn’t want to eat. I got him his food anyways. I completely lost it there as my kids weren’t willing to cooperate. We were all so tired and cranky. We ate our meals and went to the house. We took showers and off to bed, by now it was 11:30 pm.

I woke up at 7:30 am. Didn’t get that much sleep because I had a snoring bear in bed beside me and had to move to the sofa to get some sleep . According to my original plans, today was supposed to be Animal Kingdom day. But just before we left for Orlando I decided that, because of the late flight, it would be better if this day we just stayed at the house and relaxed. It was the best decision I’ve made.
After everyone woke up we decided to go to Ihop for some breakfast. There was absolutely nothing to eat at the house because we couldn’t buy groceries the night before. So off we went to fill our tummies. Ihop was packed. At the table beside us were some All Star Resorts CM, that was cool . Sorry I forgot to take pictures of the food, but I did take pictures of us.
I had scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. No pancakes for me, I’m not very fond of them . Just before finishing, my DS7 started feeling queasy and couldn’t stand the sight of food so my DF volunteered to take him outside. But he wanted to take a shortcut through the emergency exit . Our server told him, pretty loudly, he couldn’t go through that door because it was for emergency only. Leave it to my dad to not read the printing on the door. It made for a good laugh though.
After that we went to Target. We browsed around the store, where I proceeded to get distracted at the dollar section . We bought our groceries for the two weeks and some other things . When we got to the house, the kids changed into their swimsuits and got into the pool. My DM, DF and me started cooking. In between the preparation of the food I unpacked. I couldn’t imagine living out of a suitcase for two weeks, imagine the chaos . I also took some time to photograph the house.
My DF, the chef.
That afternoon, my DS11's friend, who was also vacationing in Orlando, came by the house with his father and brother. They enjoyed the pool until pretty late.
My DS and his friends.
My boys.
Having fun!
It says in my notes that I went to Walmart, but I don’t remember why. I do know that I bought a large Mickey Mouse beach tote . We got home and I started preparing everything for the next day. This was going to be our first park day, so everyone had to be in bed early. It was lights out at 10:30 pm.
