Wide awake at 6:00 AM, I realized it was totally useless to roll over and sleep until the 8:00 AM alarm. Instead I quietly got up and went to the living room to check e-mail, Facebook, and the boards. I also downloaded two books to my NookColor for vacation reading: The Help and 9th Judgment. By 7:00 AM, Stefanie had joined me in wakefulness, but she was watching TV in her room. At 7:30 I felt rumblings in my tummy and fixed a bowl of cereal for breakfast to eat while catching up on the week’s papers. Luke woke up shortly afterwards. At our original alarm time, Stefanie was already in the bathtub and then I started getting ready while simultaneously finishing the packing. By 9:50, timers are set, suitcase are all packed and weighed, and hauled to the Edge.
Promptly at 10:00, Stefanie climbed in and began opening her goodie bag. But she’d forgotten to pack any movies for the car travel, so I ran inside for some. We were pulling out of the garage by 10:10 with me driving first.
Barely out of Daviess County, Stefanie announced that she already needs a potty break. Luke posted on Facebook, “Stef’s out of the county and she’s about to explode. Literally!” Our first restroom break was in Hartford at the McDonald’s where a few grumpy and rude folks were congregating for lunch. But we were smiling because we were going to WDW. I did capture a picture of our first wildlife sighting: a big green moth.
Soon we were back on Natcher Parkway heading south. Just past Bowling Green, Stefanie announced that she needed another potty break and I’m ready to switch with Luke. We stopped at Franklin, Kentucky for another restroom break and hopefully, to find some Imodium (but no such luck). We were running ahead of schedule and felt we could stop at the Disney Warehouse Outlet at Springfield, Tennessee, exit 108 (in case anyone is ever in the area and wants to do a bit of Disney shopping). I can’t remember (and didn’t write it down), but right before parking at the Outlet, Stefanie told me, “I’m not going to break your boney butt.” Loads of laughter all around! Inside the Outlet, Stefanie and I both found Tarzan, Broadway musical, t-shirts and I also found a cute Minnie tee, but that was it.
Back in the Edge, Luke set the GPS for the Nashville airport. One little oops, as we should have programmed it for our parking service instead. By 1:20 we had made it to Executive Travel and Parking.
Great start! So happy to read about your WDW trip before we leave for ours! Can't wait to hear all about it. Your pre TR was amazing and helped me prepare for ours. Thanks! DS bought the Veness book for his Iphone so he will have it in the parks. Looking forward to hearing about your vacation.
