I'm a bit of a last-minute planner when it comes to certain things. Hotels, flights, the parks we'll visit each day, restaurants – I've got that covered months in advance – but when it comes to the actual rides we will be doing each day, well that's where I fall short ! On our last trip we sort of just wondered aimlessly and only got in about 1/3 of the rides. Anyway - on the plane ride down I was coming up with our touring plan, when I saw that the Unofficial Guide had a guideline (a.k.a. Touring plan) printed up in the back of the book for each park . . . well the Stewardess was coming around with snacks and there were much more important things to do (like eat ) and the pre-made guide sounded pretty good !
Anyway, after arriving at the MK, we picked up maps and took a few pictures and reviewed our “strategy.” Our first stop was to ride Space Mountain in Tomorrowland. D.O.D. had been doubting my planning skills (it wasn't like I had done that much ) and thought that we would be roaming around the parks like robots. WELL ... once we got to Space Mountain and walked right on – he wasn't doubting much anymore !
After Space Mountain we headed over to Buzz Lightyear and blasted away before heading to a much calmer Winnie the Pooh. It was there that we first encountered the motorcycle gang! About five really muscular guys and 3 almost equally muscular ladies were in front of us, all wearing leather jackets with with red and white skulls and motorcycles – not the crowd we had expected to see at Winnie the Pooh ! After that we headed to Snow White's Scary Adventure, and on to It's a Small World; where we once again ran into the Motorcycle Gang! They really were hitting up the scary rides today !
Our next stop was my favorite ride, The Haunted Mansion. We hadn't been since they changed the queue and I was excited to see it! We both thought the additions were pretty cool and added to the ride! Once on the ride we had a few stops – once for about 10 minutes right next to all of the haphazard stairs (that go in all of the different directions) and then again for about 5 minutes in the dining/ballroom. It was kind of cool . . . and creepy !
After the Haunted Mansion, we decided we were rather hungry and stopped at Pecos Bill for lunch (veggie burger and salad)
Up Next: More Magic Kingdom, Rides, and Motorcycle Gang Part II - and I promise more pictures to make it more entertaining!
I don't know how I missed this TR, but I'm all caught up now!
Great trip so far...the KTTW card fiascos are funny, but I'm sure they weren't funny for you guys at the time! Now I'm wondering where the remaining number of cards come into play!
Hope your studies are going well! Looking forward to hearing more about your trip.

I can not praise you enough for the terrific job you are doing with your trip report. It is well written and entertaining. I can't wait to hear what happens next with the motorcycle gang. Good for you eating the veggie burger and salad while on vacation. When I am on vacation healthy eating goes out the door. How did you like staying at the Wilderness Lodge? What did you think of the resort? I'm looking forward to hearing about the rest of your first day in the Magic Kingdom.
I know it's been a really long time since I updated this TR – to say school was overwhelming would be an understatement! The good thing is I got a lot of stuff figured out and taken care of – passing chemistry being one of them ! Anyway – not sure if anyone's still interested in reading, considering it's the middle of summer and this TR is about the holidays – but if you are, here it goes !
After stopping at Peco's Bill for lunch and not being all that thrilled (veggie burgers always sound better when you're ordering them ) we headed off to ride Pirates of the Caribbean for the first time. We both really enjoyed POC and thought it was a ride and then checked out Country Bear Jamboree (which is one of my favorites – but will deny to every and anyone like a 16 year old boy would ). Next on the list was the Jungle Cruise (another first) which was cheesy, but fun!
Some Pictures from wandering around/Liberty Belle Riverboat/etc.
Obviously very photgenic
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
After riding some more rides (BTMRR, People Mover, etc.) I got a Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich and Dad got a smoothie – he was getting tired, but I was just getting started!
[I]Really enjoying that smoothie! This picture gets me all the time![ /I]
So, I let him chill out and went exploring down Main Street. One of the stores I stopped in had a CM from Pittsburgh (where my Mom is from) and it was fun talking to her. It was also nice to hear someone with the same accent as me - not too many people know what “yinz” or “n'at” means! As a matter of fact – she wouldn't be the only P-Burgh person I would meet on the trip!
After that I went back and got Dad and we decided it was time to head on back to WL and get our room situation sorted out.
One of my favorite places at WL!
The bus ride back to WL was uneventful and we arrived back “home” quickly. We went to check in and thankfully everything was sorted out – we got our room keys and headed up to our rooms – or so we thought. We opened the door to our room and – huh? - BUNK BEDS? That's right we had one regular bed and bunk beds . . . Bunk Beds? We couldn't stop laughing – after last night and that morning – we now had bunk beds ! After a brief moment of considering staying in the room (I think we were a little insane at that point ) we went back down and told them what was up. This time we got a girl from Brisbane – so her and Dad (who's from Sydney) really got along and she pulled around things for us. Sadly there weren't any woods view rooms available for that night – but there was a standard room available with two regular beds. We went with that and she told us she could get us into a woods view room for the next night. With that we were off to our second set of rooms ! KTTW Card Count: 2 at ASM, 6 at WL = 8 cards and we hadn't even stayed a night!
Up Next: Our first night at WL, FW Lights Tour, and DTD.
Side Note: I think the pictures are the right size - but if they aren't I'll resize them!
I've found those touring plans to be a great help in the past.
They really are!
