Looks like a good time was had at WWoHP. The pictures are great. It really does look like the movies. I too was under the impression that Three Broomsticks was a TS. I don't know why I thought that but I did. You accomplished a lot in the short amount of time at IOA. But I'm sure it was nice to get back to Disney.
Glad you were able to enjoy WWoHP. That does seem odd that more "regular" drinks weren't offered at the Three Broomsticks. I think that would be difficult for my milk/juice loving kids.
Having to kill time before the van pickup...hmm, doesn't sound like the park had much else to offer to your family. I'm still trying to decide if it will be worth it to spend a night or two at a US hotel so we can get all the extras that come with it...or if we should stay in the Disney bubble!
Glad you're finally getting to a Disney park! Oh, was there much holiday decoration at Universal? We just went to Universal Studios Hollywood a few weeks ago, and they did have some nice holiday decorations up. Just wondering if there's a lot of holiday "magic" to be seen in their Florida counterpart.
There may also have been lemonade or something, but my kids mainly prefer milk! There was a lot more to the park but the kids were too short for most of the "big" rides, they weren't interested in the Dr. Seuss area, and the wait times for the stuff they could ride were all very long. So, knowing that we had to leave at a certain time, we were somewhat limited in what we could do because we didn't want to be stuck waiting in a line when we were supposed to be meeting the van.
I didn't notice anything spectacular in the way of holiday decorations -- nothing even close to Disney. I suppose there were some wreaths, garland, etc. up, but nothing that I found particularly memorable.

I'll be interested to see what the recently announced expansion will be. I've read that they're adding an entire separate area that will be like Diagon Alley and will include a Gringotts ride.

It was really fun! David was a bit sad he didn't have a chance to try the Hogs Head Lager, but 10am was a bit early for a beer!

Sounds like a great day at Universal. I actually was just listening to a Podcast and they were talking about how JK Rowling didn't want soda served in the WWoHP because it keeps it in theme with Harry Potter (no soda in the books)
Holy cow, did it get busy fast! Bummer you didn't get to see Ollivander's. I know it's insanely busy, but I think I'd still like to see it. I hope!

IoA and US are just not Disney. We truly enjoyed WWoHP, but otherwise, there is just not enough there to draw us back every year like WDW does. Glad you all enjoyed it!

Yes I heard about that too. My husband was telling me all about it...I can't wait to see how it looks...hopefully it will help with the MASSIVE crowds that descend on the WWoHP

I'm not sure how I feel about that. As a Disney fan, I obviously appreciate the attention to detail and desire to be consistent in theming. But it seems to me there's a fine line between attention to detail and not creating a good guest experience. Cinderella didn't drink Coke either, but I can sure order a Coke at CRT if I want one!

Yes, I would like to see Ollivander's at some point. David has already said he'd like to go back to WWoHP on another trip, so perhaps we'll hit it next time. I think I forgot to mention in my report that there was a cart selling wands out in Hogsmeade, and the boys got Dumbledore's wand and Sirius Black's wand, so they didn't come home wand-less. Nonetheless, I would like to experience Ollivander's someday.

I agree! We'd like to go back (hopefully at a less crowded time -- is there such a thing?), but it's definitely not something we need to do on every visit to Orlando!

I read something over the weekend that said that the expansion is going to be built on the Universal Studios side and will connect to IOA somehow. Makes sense since Diagon Alley was in London -- so far away from Hogwarts.

I missed the PTR, but am enjoying the TR so far!
I think it will be after the expansion is complete that we go to WWoHP, but that's ok. I know it's not going anywhere.
What a day at IOA, wow did it get crowded early on. I have not been there since 1998, my boys are not into Harry Potter and not really coaster fans, which makes me wonder what other things they would enjoy there to justify the ride from Disney. Will have to do some research.
What a great start! Very excited to hear about WWoHP and The Three Broomsticks. I'm kind of glad its counter service as I was afraid we wouldn't be able to get in for lunch when we're there. (We are going in March, but on a Saturday.) Reading your TR makes me want to go now, not wait 55 more days!!
Great report so far! We are going to IOA for a day in April before our cruise, and I will definitely be getting there before rope drop. Did the resort guests have to walk through the superhero section, or did they walk to the right?

I have to agree with you. While I think it's cool to experience the world of Harry Potter, I think you also have to accommodate your guests needs. And guests are probably going to want to drink soda with their meal.
