I know I have come up with far too many excuses in the last 2 months but the time has finally come that I’ve gotten off my butt and gotten started So, for the two of you who might still be interested in reading this TR, I thank you.
For those of you who know me, you know we’ve started trying to make Jersey Week an annual trip in our house. (Except last year because we bought a house instead ). In actuality, missing a year made this trip even more anticipated and exciting. I was completely into the planning and the counting down and just jamming as much Disney into the days leading up to this trip as I could. (Thank you for the countdown ideas that I stole and to Kelly for the Disney Parks CDs…which will be replacing the Christmas music in the CD player tomorrow). So, you could imagine how much we were all bouncing on air the closer the day to leave arrived…
…that was until 2:30am came rolling around. Okay, whose idea was it to fly out of JFK at 8:25 in the morning anyway?? Oh, right…mine. Well, next time I need to remember that when I tell myself that “packing won’t take long” and wait until the night before we leave to start. Craig and I got to bed at 11:30pm and got up at 2:30am. Too tired to remember to break out the new camera that I just HAD to have 2 days before the trip. (Thanks Sharon and Heather…I LOVE my camera!!!!) Craig had gone to see Zach earlier in the day to say good-bye and go over the plans for him meeting us on Monday night. We had put the boys to bed around 9:00pm and got them up at 4:30am. (Funny how they can pop out of bed at o’dark thirty when school isn’t involved.) Pop…they were out of bed and dressed lickety-split. Jason had gotten a cold the week before so we had to give him a couple of treatments before we left and we grabbed some quick breakfast for the car. By the time we left it was about half an hour later than Craig wanted, but because the rest of the world was asleep, we made great time and were at the SmartPark by 6:00am. There was a shuttle ready and we were off to the airport in about 5 minutes. Jason was so excited he talked the ENTIRE way to the airport.
We had to check an extra bag and the lines were short. Security was pretty painless as well and we were quickly on our way to the gate with plenty of time to spare. We stopped for some healthy breakfast goodies…potato chips for the boys and a Frappucino and croissant for me. Let the vacation eating begin!!
I wanted to check in with the gate to make sure they were aware on board of the boys allergies. They moved us into the first row of economy to make it easier for everyone. Then we waited while the sun was finally coming up over the tarmac.
(There were a lot of tongues in Jason’s pictures this trip).
We ate our breakfast and then right before we got on the plane, we gave Jason his first treatment on the inhaler. He did great, and we used it every afternoon while at the parks. And then it was our turn to board. When we got on, the boys were looking into the cockpit and oohing and aahing. The pilot let them come in and look and gave them each pilot’s wings. At the end of the flight on the way our, they both stopped to salute the pilot. It may have been a small thing, but the boys were jazzed about it and the magic was already beginning.
The flight was fine and the boys kept busy watching the Spongebob Movie that we downloaded for them on the way. Pretty soon we were making our initial descent into MCO!! We had to pick up the one extra bag that we checked of clothes to change into and all the medicines and then we were on our way to DME. There were no lines and we were quickly on a bus and on our way.
This trip we were the second stop which we thought was pretty good. We first stopped at the BW and then we were finally pulling into the drive of our beloved Beach Club after a long 2 year wait.
When we walked in the door, we were greeted by a CM with a clipboard asking our name. When we told him, he walked us toward the elevator and took us up to the 5th floor!! Oh, yeah!! Upgrade to Club Level!! We thanked the CM and Craig and the boys went into the lounge to get snacks and watch Aristocats while I checked in. There was a little mix up with the room. We had contacted the BC before coming down to get a special cleaning for Jason’s asthma and they had cleaned a room for us, but it was only for 4 and we had a reservation booked for 5 because Zach was meeting us. They were great about it, of course, and gave us 2 options. We could take the room that was cleaned and they could roll in a bed for Zach, or we could go to the parks and they could clean a room that had a daybed. I chose the daybed because I figured they’re already there and the roll-a-way might take up more room. The CL CM arranged for that, checked us in, and gave me my birthday button and Craig and I anniversary buttons (Jersey week always falls between my birthday and our anniversary so we celebrate at Disney each year. After that, we put our bags in the room and got changed.
It was strange to arrive at Disney so early - we usually fly in the evening. Because of our flight time this trip, we were checked in and ready to hit the parks by 1:00pm. We had dinner plans at Rose & Crown tonight so we figured we’d just walk into Epcot and spend the day there. (Don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but the IG is one of the BEST things about the BC) We stopped at the lounge for coffee and juice and headed downstairs.
We stopped in the lobby for some pics and got a little sad knowing we wouldn’t see Teena on this trip. She was enjoying herself on a well-deserved Disney Cruise that week.
Then it was outside into one of the most beautiful blue sky days I could have imagined. I just kept saying “We’re really here !!” “I’m so happy!!”. We took some pictures this gorgeous afternoon, and then headed into Epcot for lunch.

Oh, you are going to love it!! We do!! My DH was a Poly or nothing guy, but since I talked him into trying the BC, he won't go back.

Hi Jenn! I am soooo far behind on your TR (and everyone else's) I've got a lot of catching up to do...forgive me
Well, THERE you are!! Great start to the report. I don't know how you all look so great and wide awake after basically no sleep. How fantastic to be upgraded! Isn't that first walk of the trip through IG just the best?

Well, since you've finally started, all is forgiven
What an awesome surprise with your upgrade to club level! BC is beautiful, I loved it so much when we were there for breakfast at CMC. Hopefully one of these years I'll be able to stay there!
You are writing, Dawn! Though you had to get up so darn early, I could still feel all the excitement in your house! Congrats on the upgrade! The room is beautiful!!!!! And the IG is the best thing about BC and I'm hoping about BWI when we're there in June.
