We got in the queue for the Backlot Tour, and before long we were led in. It was neat to see behind the scenes.
this really took my eye as I always wondered about the thousands of uniforms the CM wear
from PoTC Davey Jones organ...part of the movie displays
some cool movie merchandise in the gift shop Peter and I enjoyed BT, Nathan said it was okay. Afterwards, we walked over to TSMM to see what the status was there, stopping for Cokes along the way.
The wait time was still 120 mins...So, as we sat on a bench sipping our Cokes, I made a plan! We had an ADR at Cape May Cafe at 5:45 p.m., if we didn't eat until almost 6:00, there was no way would we make it back to DHS by 7:00 for the AI finale- a must do! It was now 4:45, so I suggested we leave DHS now and take the boat over to BC, and try to get in early for dinner. That should give us time to get back to the park by the last show. Then we had 3 EMH to enjoy, hopefully with less people!?
It may not be someone you saw at DHS, but there has been someone on AI who did win through DHS, and that was David Artuletta.
I remember that..... The girl that won on our night there has auditioned twice already, but didn't get through, I hope her "fastpass" helps her the next time she tries out!
We caught the boat over to Beach Club, stopping first at Swan, then to our stop at YC dock.
The resorts are so beautiful here, hope to stay at BC again someday!
I checked us in and they handed me a pager that went off 5 minutes later.
We were seated and since we knew the ropes, we grabbed a plate and dug in!
my first plate: crab legs, mashed potatoes, ribs, & caesar salad.
Nathan's first plate: clam chowder is his favorite here, plus he got the steamed clams, salad w/a ton of cheese and mac & cheese. I didn't take pictures of Peter's feast this year, let's just say he ate his weight in clams, mussels, & crablegs!! I was the only one to get dessert.
stawberry cheesecake, key lime tart, & a blondie... I know Cape May Cafe' Buffet gets mixed reviews, but we have had nothing but awesome service and food the 4 times we've eaten there. It is a must-do for Peter. Total: $114.99 or 3 TS credits + $20 tip With tummies very full, we headed to the boat dock in hopes of making it back to DHS in time for the AI finale.
We got there and waited.......... and waited....memories from last year's less than magical slow boat and bus transportation came flooding back to me!I really love Beach Club, but other than walking through IG to get to Epcot, the boat and bus service....well, it sucks. It had been a gorgeous day and the night was equally beautiful. The boat was full, and even though we landed at the park dock at 6:40, it took awhile to get off the boat and back into the park. We really thought we were late for the show. We ran ...not a good idea for two out of shape, stuffed chock full of crablegs 40-somethings!!! BUT...we made it!!!! It was a packed house, but we found a seat, and enjoyed the show. It was a great show and all three of us picked the winner- Bonnie Salary, a teacher & soccer coach in FL. She has tried out for the real AI show twice and hasn't gone through. Hopefully, this golden ticket will help when she tries out next time. She sang Alicia Keys "No One" and did an awesome job. It was now almost 8:00 and we wanted to try to ride TSMM. 50 minutes!!!! YAAA!! We can do this! The queue line was all the way outside, but it moved quickly. It was weird because once we got inside, the queue area was not full, and in about 35 mins. we were off!!!
My score! Peter scored highest, then me, then Nathan, but it was very close. Love this ride! So glad we got to ride at least once today! We could have gotten back in line, but our time was almost over and Nathan wanted to ride ToT, using our FPs from earlier today. We got the front row!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, we both squealed & laughed so hard!!!!!!!!! I sat next to this guy who didn't hold on and didn't make a peep. I think I even ended up yelling at him to hold on and asked him why he wasn't scared. LOL It is so scary yet fun at the same time!!!
coming up................our vacation is almost over. Find out how we spent our last hour...........................am I alone in this queue????? or do I have a riding partner?????
