Countdown 1 week until we hit the road!! I can't believe we're headed back to Florida for the 6th time in 5 years! We're SO spoiled!
A little background on the cast.... myself Nellie 32, a SAHM from Grand Rapids, MI, a Disney fanatic! I remember being a kid I could wander around the Disney Store at our mall for hours! My favorite Disney memory was when my son was 3 and MAJORLY into Peter Pan, Jack Sparrow and everything pirate, and he had his Peter Pan costume on watching the afternoon parade and Peter Pan saw him and they exchanged sword swings. I still remember the look on that little boys face was PRICELESS! I tear up just thinking of it!
my husband Jared, not so much a fan of Disney... will tolerate me and my dragging him around the parks in exchange for a few hours of peace in the evening back at our All Star Vacation home pool/hot tub.
Son, Brendan 8 years old, my legomaniac! Last year he rode space mountain for the first time and now thinks he's ready to take on any rollarcoaster that comes his way! In some ways this vacation is all about him, we have to get on the Star Tours since it was closed the last time we were there, and we're also headed to Universal for Harry Potter and Legoland (he's super geeked to be the first one of his friends to go)
Daughter Kirsti 5, thinks she's big stuff and SHE wants to go on Space Mountain this year, I'm not sure she's going to be tall enough but we'll see.... Also, she's a Tinkerbell girl, the rest of the princess' are just not sassy enough for my little Stinkerbelle (kirsti's nickname) I'm glad we did the princess dinners when she was younger because she's already over everything princess
We're traveling with my Jared's 2 Aunts and 2 Uncles, it's a complicated story but this is his imediate family. His late moms brother, 2 sisters and one of his aunts husband. They are all in their late 50's early 60's, and one of his uncles has parkinsons. None of them ever had kids so Jared's always have been thier surrogate kid.
Also, joining us for a week will be my parents, who will fly down to spoil the grandkids and maybe give Jared and I some date nights! This will be the third time they've flew down for a few days to visit us. The other 3 times all flew together. I couldn't imagine going without them! I'm lucky Jared and my parents get along so well!
We're leaving Feb 10th and driving down to Kissimmee and staying at an All Star Vacation home in Windsor Hills for 2 weeks. Since we're the invited guests and we're taking his Aunts big conversion van, they want to take thier time driving down, I guess they don't like driving much at night. If it were my way we'd hit the road and drive all night! So next Friday we'll (hopefully) leave when right when Brendan gets out of school and stay 2 nights at hotels on the way, arriving sometime Sunday afternoon.
We rent 2, 5 bedroom houses in the same neighborhood so we're close but we get our own space. the Aunts and Uncles are not used to the noise of 2 kids. Works out perfect for us since his family is really religous and Jared and I enjoy a few drinks after a long day of site-seeing. lol
Monday, Tuesday we're going to WDW. Grandma and Pa arrive late Tuesday night and Wed. Universal and Thursday Legoland! Busy first week I KNOW but the 2nd week is Presidents day week and that town gets CRAZY so we're planning on using that time to go see our fav team the Detroit Tigers at spring training and just chill by the pool.
So this week I'm getting packed, trying on clothes, planning car activities etc... It's going to be busy hopefully it flies by!
I'd love any feedback, tips for Universal/Legoland since this will be our first trips there!
Thanks for the support! If anyone has any tips for Universal and Legoland I NEED it! We've never been!
It's been a few years since I was last at Universal and I know people here have been more recently than I have. With LEGOLAND, I'd definitely check out some of the Jennifer's blogs from when she went around opening. I found them fascinating reading. If you scroll down a bit, you'll come across them here.
