I'm starting to go in to hyper planning mode for this trip... I downloaded a bunch of Disney books on my kindle fire to read before the trip and a bunch of free books that looked interesting for the plane ride to/from the trip. I love pixels of ink for the daily free kindle stuff & I gotta admit I'm hooked. I still have a couple Disney apps I want to download. Jim has been going crazy downloading Disney apps on his phone so I'm not sure how many I'll need for kindle.
Shelby is packed already.. I think she had 6 pairs of shoes/tennis shoes/sandals packed... she said you gotta coordinate all your colors down to your feet... She doesn't realize (yet) that I need to wash all of these clothes.. I will not let her take clothes that have been sitting in her closet since Summer without getting 'freshened'.
Shelby is the only one with her clothes set.. I haven't even looked through my closet to see if I need to buy anything, nor has Jim or Brendan.
Throughout the year I have what I call a "trip box" & in it I keep all of the HBA free samples I send for (I'm a free sample junkie) & anything else we would use for a trip.. I did check my box & we're all set with sample size shampoo, condition, lotion, face wash etc.
Brendan also started a trip box & he's got his own toiletries in there & anything else we've bought for him for the trip..
Surprisingly, I have a very small shopping list for the trip:
Sunglasses ( for Shelby & I, Jim bought a pair last week)
Intimate apparel (okay.. who are we kidding.. undies, bras, socks! ) I am goofy in that I ALWAYS have to buy new undies, socks & bras for EVERY trip.
snacks for Brendan- to eat in their room after they are in 'lock down'
gum & listerine breath strips (Bren's obsession)
Like I said, the only person who has gone through their closet to see what clothes we have/need is Shelby. Jim wears only plain white tank tops in Disney.. no characters, no colors.. & we need to check if he's got enough from Summer for the tip if not, I buy his tanks at jiffyshirts.com.. a great, inexpensive clothing place. Bren wants to wear muscle T's in Disney so we need to buy those.
I haven't checked the PassPorter packing check list yet so I'm sure I'll be adding more to the shopping list.
I also don't have a huge to do list... I need to pre-order the photopass CD, need to find a kennel for the dog & go check out a couple kennels.
Only a little over 2 weeks & I can check in online at Pop Century..
Todays planning dilemma.. where should we board the dog? For those of you who know me, we got a puppy November , 2010 & it was a birthday present for my DD from her best friend. I heard all of the usual stories "Mom, I'll take care of her, I'll do everything" ( from both Shelby & Brendan. Jamie, was too busy with senior year to commit to said puppy)
well, the kids are good about poopy pick up & fresh water but this dog is MINE!!. Leia ( yes, she was named after Star Wars Princess Leia) is extremely attached to me ( probably since I work from home & am with her all the time) & I am attached to her as well.. I say I like her better than my own kids sometimes. She is such a well behaved dog it's amazing. I had dogs all through my childhood up until Brendan was born & she is the best of all of these dogs.. she was house trained within a week, has NEVER chewed on anything (other than her bones etc) is extremely loving.. If you walk in my house be prepared for her to lay ON your feet expecting a belly rub..
She is also sooo cute...
(she loves snow!)
Anyway.. I got sidetracked talking about my girl!
We have never used a kennel before so we've been shopping around.. Leia went to the vet last week for her yearly check up & we got her the bortedella (sp?) shot & asked our vet for recommendations .. Of the 5 they gave us we narrowed it down to 2..Camp Bow Wow & PetSmart PetsHotel. I believe both are franchised so would love opinions on both of them.
Camp Bow Wow is on the way to the airport so we could drop her off when we're leaving. We have an interview there tomorrow to see how Leia does with other dogs. Jim likes this one as they have web cams where you can check up on your dog..
PetsHotel also seemed nice & we are awaiting a call back to get info from them.
Again, would love to hear your opinions on these... Unfortunately, my family wont watch her, nor would I want them to so that's out..
Today I'm going to try to write a touring plan for the trip, (which we rarely follow) but it gets me excited for the trip so I do it EVERY time.. It's always funny to look back & see how we deviated from the touring plan.
Leia is super cute! Good luck with your decision on where to board her. We have never boarded our puppies so I have no advice for you. They have always stayed with my mom. If I had to board I'm not sure what I would do. An option I would look into is a petsitter to come to my home a few times a day to feed, walk, and play with our little guy. That would probably work great for us but we know a petsitter personally.
