DH-Chris-35 (principal) He is an awesome husband and an even better father (if that is possible). He is my best friend and we always have fun together. He was introduced to Disney by yours truly. We went to Disneyland for our honeymoon and that was his first trip, but he didn’t have full blown disneyitis until we went to WDW with my whole family two years later. Since then we go about twice a year and have joined DVC so we can continue the obsession.
DD-Carsyn (will turn 10 months old while on our trip)-She is the light of our lives and a very precious gift! This is her first of what we hope will be many trips for our family. We hope she catches a severe case of disneyitis early on. We can’t wait to get to experience Disney through her!
Me-Cydney-35 (bookkeeper) I love to be at home (unless of course I can be at Disney!) and hanging out with my family. I enjoy reading and being with my husband and daughter. My parents took my DSis and I to Disneyland when we were little and WDW when we were older and we loved it, but we were truly bitten by the bug when we went on our trip together as adults.
DSis- Cori - 31 (mom and soon to be college grad yippee!) Mom of three fantastic sons (my sweet and ornery nephews) and one of my most favorite people in the world. Like me, she loves all things Disney. She is also a resurrected NKOTB fan (that means she is more of a fan now that they are old instead of when they were young and hot. What can I say I love her anyways!!! ) She is a kid at heart and loves to have fun. We love to go to Disney together, (well I love it at least and I keep convincing her to come too so I guess she doesn’t hate it!)
DBil – Brian-32 (Safety Engineer) Dad of the three cutest boys in the entire world and major OU fan (like crazy fan, like I-can’t-believe-there-is-room-in-his-heart-at-all-for-Disney fan). He has gradually come around to love Disney, as long as he can make it to the ESPN club for any major OU games, he is good!!!
DNephew #1- Zayne-11 – (rising football star and all around great kid!) Took his first trip to WDW when he was 2. He has always been an athlete and video game expert. (I think he was born with a playstation remote in one hand and a football in the other!) He pretty much skipped walking and just started running. I am pro-kid leash because of him! Now he is growing up so quickly and is so much fun to be with!
DNephew #2 – Drew-4 (future comedian and the life of the party!) Took his first trip to Disney in utero (his mom was eight months pregnant!) He will turn 5 on the trip Loves pirates, cars, and well everything Disney. He is one of the funniest little kids I have ever known. I am going to have to take notes on his funny comments so I can share them you. We had a health scare with him this year so we are treasuring every second of joy he brings (and that is alot of joy!!)
DNephew #3 – Blake-1 (our handsome little chunk! ) He started out at 5 lbs but has definitely left that behind! He is named after his papa (my dad) and looks just like him (isn’t that funny how that happens!) He is our quiet little guy, the other boys definitely make enough noise for him and they like to talk for him so we treasure every word he says. He loves to give kisses, even over face time on our phones. This is his first trip too and we are so excited to see Disney through his eyes too!
Our family story:
My DH and I have always wanted a family. We tried for over eight years to have children. We tried very basic infertility measures, but after tons of thought and prayer, we decided that adoption was the path we were supposed to take. We were matched with a birthfamily in early 2011, but that adoption fell through. I thought infertility was going to be one of the hardest things we would go through, but it didn’t compare to losing the baby that we thought would be our son. Though we grieved this loss tremendously, we would never be upset with this young lady for choosing to raise her son. We will think of and pray for this little boy and his family for life. We also had faith that everything happens for a reason. Little did we know that reason was coming 6 months later. We got a call from our agency saying that they had a little girl that had been placed and they believed that she belonged to us, and they were exactly right! So with absolutely no notice at all, our dreams came true and our prayers were answered, we became parents to the most precious little girl in the world. Even though she had been born in my heart years ago, she was two days old when we met her. She is most definitely our daughter in everyway. When we first saw her, she smiled (this is not a dramatization, it really happened!!). It was as if she had been waiting for us too. (wow I still cry when I think about it!!!) So with the newest love of our lives in our arms, we tried to get over the complete shock of becoming parents!!!
(ok I tried to put a pic of us in here from the album in my profile, but wasn't able to figure it out. Sorry!)
It wasn’t too long until we started planning when we would take our little princess to see her castle for the first time…
Up next: The planning of her first trip home!

What a great start for your family! I have several friends who have gone through the heartache and joys of adoption, so I have to admit that I had tears in my eyes as I read your story!

Great start! Beautiful story about how your daughter came into your lives, it brought tears to my eyes
She is definitely worth it all. It was a long road, but we could not be happier!
Side note: A couple pics (I finally figured it out!) & Our family Disney travel history
Here is our sweet pea at 6 weeks-
Here is our little family this March-
So my family has enjoyed taking a few trip to Disney together. My DH and I planned our first trip to WDW a couple years after we were married. We had little money so we found the cheapest off site hotel we could find. We told my DSis that we were going and she really wanted to go too, and before you knew it even my parents were onboard. Since my DSis & DBil were in the military they were able to get us a super cheap room at the Contemporary. It was awesome and totally hooked us onto staying onsite. This was my DN#1 first trip. It was so much fun to watch him and being apart of those first memories. So the next year DH and I decided it would be fun to take a trip by ourselves and stay at AKL since DH loves animals. When we told DSis we were going, she wanted to go again too but couldn’t go when we were. So we planned our June 2004 trip to AKL and then rebooked another trip for Oct 2004 that they could go on with us and once again my parents came along. We stayed at Pop Century and had a blast at the FWF and MNSSHP. We both had several trips in the following years but not together. Then in 2010, we decided to spend Thanksgiving together and where better but WDW! So we got to take our first trip with DN#2 and have turkey with Mickey. They stayed at CBR and we stayed at AKLV. Now back to regular scheduled programming…
The planning of her first trip home!
We started planning when would be the best (but soonest!) time we could get our little princess to meet Mickey. Since DH is a principal and I had used all my vacation time up for maternity leave, summer was the soonest we could go. We decided to go as soon as DH got out of school. As soon as we picked a time, I thought of course we needed to invite my sister and her family to go with us. The first trip we took together as a family was my DN#1 first trip, so of course my DSis should get an invite to DD first trip plus it would be DN#3 first trip too, and we really wanted to be a part of that!
She said heck yeah they were coming and DD and DN#3 first trip was born! We had not taken a trip since Nov 2010 so we had a few extra vacation points and with a baby, a full kitchen and extra space would be handy so we decided lets get a 2 bedroom villa. We figured with the heat of the summer, our DD would need plenty of down time so we wanted to stay somewhere that we would have plenty of stuff to do at the resort. For us, that meant either BLT for convenience and being able to hop the monorail to the other MK resorts, or AKLV (our home resort) so we could chill out in the room and watch animals or explore the resort plus the boys could enjoy the water play area at Kidani. So wahoo for our first 2 bedroom!!
We decided you couldn’t beat the monorail for convenience with a little one, so BLT was our first choice. However there was no room at the BLT inn. So Kidani Village it is. We have waitlisted BLT, but I have little hope that it will come through. Either way both resorts are awesome and we are excited about sitting on the porch and watching our animals graze (and I don't mean our family!!! )
Up next: How to get there and what to eat!?!
