He is very sensitive! But we had success later in the week!

Great update and I am looking forward to more.
No, she was standing on something. If you look at most of the pictures that I'll post, she or both of us are on our tippy toes, as she was trying to exaggerate the difference. She's only about two inches taller!

Sorry for the delay! Alexa had a 3 hour track meet yesterday, and I had an appointment today, so I'm hoping to get another update done this weekend!

Finally started reading today, Marnie! Love the pictures of your past trips and seeing how your two have grown. I can't believe Alexis is taller than you. Glad you were able to get your room switched, too. I've wondered if you did on-line check in if you could do that . Great time so far at AK and MK!

Sunday April 15, 2012 – One Last Ride on Test Track and another Meltdown!

I’m going to say it was another early morning for us, especially since we didn’t stay out too late last night. I think I went to get breakfast for everyone (waffle with bacon, waffle with fruit, banana, cereal, yogurt, fruit cup) for $21 and brought it back to the room while they got ready. This morning we were heading to Epcot, as it was the last day Test Track was due to be open before the refurb. I don’t recall a long wait for a bus, and we made it to the gates before 8:45, when they started letting people in. We were lucky that they had just opened another turnstile, so we promptly shifted and bypassed the lines.

First stop was of course, Test Track. I grabbed FPs, and then we headed inside. We made it thru the queue area, and were soon racing around the track. Colin loves the ride and puts his hands up as you’re going around the track. Maybe because it’s not in the dark? Next up was Mission Space. We decided to do orange. Bad idea. We had no wait, and made it thru the ride without issue (or so I thought). After exiting, and in the gift shop, we had meltdown number 2. Again, his mood changed, the tears started flowing, and he got really clingy. We sat outside on the wall to regroup, and made the decision that I would take him on green for the rest of the trip while Matt and Alexa did orange. That seemed to work, and he was all smiles again as we headed back to Test Track to use our FPs. I’m assuming since the ride was going down the next day, the ride pictures weren’t being shown (you had to go to the CM desk to get them) which we promptly declined.

I think that pic was before the second ride! Anyway, we decided to head over to the other side of the park. Along the way, we came upon the Kim Possible kiosk, and, since we had yet to try this, signed up for an adventure! We got our FP (or ticket, whatever it is) and decided to check out the butterfly garden.

The kids wanted to go into Club Cool, but that didn’t open until 11, so we made a restroom break instead. Then onto Soarin’, but that was showing a 60 minute wait, and the FPs weren’t due until I think 1:30 or 2, so we’d be out of the park by then. It would have to wait until the next trip. The pavilion was packed. We decided to wait for the Living with the Land ride, and it was the longest wait I’ve ever had (it snaked out of the queue). Maybe 15-20 minutes. While on the ride, we saw the kids friends walking thru a door, who were on the Behind the Seeds tour. But they didn’t hear us yell at them. Funny how you see people you know when you least expect it! Then it was over to Figment, as Alexa wanted to ride it. Again, there was a bit of a wait (I guess Epcot was pretty busy today).

It’s disappointing to see how little is left at the end of the ride. It looks like it’s been a forgotten space! L It was now past 11, so we headed to Club Cool so everyone (except me) could sample their sodas. I decided about 3 weeks before the trip to give up soda. I was having some other health issues, but started drinking a lot of water, and found out how much better it made me feel, so I’ve decided to just skip the soda altogether (unless it’s club soda in a mojito )! At this point, it’s been almost two months so I’m proud of myself! Anyway, back to the story! It’s lunch (and FAB) time! We headed to the cantina. The kids shared an order of nachos, Matt had a Taco de Carne, I had a taco de pollo, and I got two churros for the kids. Plus two sprites and a lime raspberry margarita for me! Total was $60. Ouch!

We stuffed our faces and then headed to Norway to complete our first Kim Possible Adventure. We had a fun time working our way around Norway, and it’s a great way to explore the ins and outs of a country!

We solved the ‘sitch and Alexa decided she wanted to do another one. It was past naptime for someone so he and Colin headed out while Alexa and I went to Mexico to take care of another ‘sitch. Once that was done, we headed back to POFQ as well. Of course, housekeeping had not been to the room yet (it was between 1 and 2). The kids and I headed to the pool, while Matt slept. Colin was going between the pool and the hot tub, and we were soon heading back to the room for showers. I got Colin a lava smoothie at the pool bar on the way back ($6 w/tip). Housekeeping had left another bag in front of the door with supplies, so we were all set for that. Matt decided he was still tired, so the kids and I headed out to MK without him and he said he’d meet us later.

Since we had tackled the right side of the park the night before, we went left towards Adventureland. It was crowded, and a bit warm in the sun, so we started looking for inside rides! First up was the Tiki Room. This had changed since our last visit, and was a great show! Next up was Pirates. Alexa wanted to ride Jungle Cruise, and I didn’t want to wait for 40 minutes, so we got FPs that were good about an hour later, and we went to ride Magic Carpets.

Matt called to say that he was in the park, so we waited for him at the carpets. Colin was getting spitted on by the camel as he was hot. Matt arrived and got a FP for JC, which was only about 20 minutes later that ours. Alexa wanted ice cream , so she and I went to Sunshine Tree Terrace, and Matt and Colin did Swiss Family Treehouse. After that, we headed to Haunted Mansion and got to see the new graveyard scene.

Colin survived, so that was good! We headed towards Fantasyland next. IaSW was first. This was our first time with the reversed queue. Again, a bit of a wait, but not bad. PP was showing a 60 minute wait (no thanks) and FPs weren’t for quite a bit later, so we passed for now. We found a quiet spot around the corner from Pinocchio’s and I called my parents to check in on them. Apparently it was supposed to be 90 tomorrow in Boston for the marathon. As usual for our last April trip, it was warmer at home than it was in Orlando! Pooh was showing a long wait, so we skipped that. I’m guessing we headed to Goofy’s Barnstormer for Colin. And then it was time for the speedway.

And then the teacups. Where Alexa was spinning the cup so fast, then when it stopped, she spun herself right out of her seat and landed on the floor of the cup. So funny! Dinner was at Cosmic Rays. Again. The kids both had hot dogs again, Matt a bacon cheeseburger, and I had a greek salad. And two sprites. Total was $38. We sat out on the verandah again and overlooked the castle.

We headed back to the racetrack for another spin.

Alexa and Matt took a spin on Space (they must have gotten FPs before dinner) and Colin and I shared some popcorn ($3.25) and then went on Buzz.

Then it was off to Goofy’s Barnstormer again. There was no one on the ride, so Colin rode a couple of times by himself. Then it was over to Dumbo, as that too was a walk on. Wishes was just starting, so we got to see that from Dumbo. However, our (me and Matt) elephant would not go up or down. How frustrating. Isn’t this a brand new ride? Ugh! We stopped for some bottled water on the way out of the park, and were soon back at the resort.

Coming up Next: We venture to Harry Potter and a chance meeting!
