Hi all!!! My DH( tigerspinkles),DS12 and I finally went on our trip. Since we have been back, DH keeps asking when I'm going to start the trip report. Here goes......
June 24th... I worked 6:30am until 2pm. Finally by 2:30 "Disney's Vero Beach here we come!!!" We estimated the trip would take about 20 hrs. Actually it took 25hrs. DH was actually surprised when we sailed right through from Eastern Long Island to the end of the New Jersey Turnpike. We hit construction in three different areas. Richmond VA. being the worst. 3mph for 15 miles!!! Took about 3 hrs. It was horrible. 4 lanes down to 1. aaaaahhhhhh!!!
Florida was getting hit by that Tropical Storm to the north. We had sunshine, rain and heavy wind all at the same time.
We finally got to Vero Beach about 4-4:30 pm. Dinner that night was at Shutters. Goofy's Pirate dinner. I called to change to a later time because of the delay we had. The dinner was very good.
Our room was on the second floor, main building, ocean view. Had beautiful sunrises.
One problem with the room. Someone took the cable from the dvd player.
What we did while we were there.......... DH and I had a leg and foot massage at the spa (recommend it, loved it). Mini golf a few times. DS did the archery. Did alot of relaxing by the pool. DS was like a fish, couldn't get him out of the water. We went to the treasure museum down the road. Drove around to do some site seeing. Campfire.
One of the best things was when a friend of DH that he hasn't seen since high school(29yrs ago) came to visit us with her 2 sons. We had dinner at Shutters Seafood Buffet(delicious) and then went swimming for awhile. We had alot of fun with them.
Snorkling was one of the things we wanted to do but didn't. The ocean was rough the whole week we were there. On the last full day there we finally went down and put our feet in. DS went up to his knees and he had alot of fun.
Shutters, whether for breakfast or for dinner, the food was always Very Good!!! Bleachers Bar and Grill had awesome peel n eat shrimp. I got a pineapple-orange swirl Dole Whip!!! Loved it!!!!!!!
We love Disney's Vero Beach!!!!! All the Cast Members are very nice. Especially Old man John. He was very helpful everytime I called to ask questions. (Thanx DH lol) We got to meet him also. Cannot wait to go back.
They need to do more things at night though. By 7pm everything was done.
Saturday morning, June 30th, we had to say good bye
