Glad your flight wasn't cancelled or delayed. It must have been nerve-racking waiting for the day to arrive and not being sure if you'd be able to fly.
Again - so glad that you guys faired well during Sandy, but sorry for your friends/family
It must have been an interesting drive along NJ/NY.
Thank you, Lisa. We were preparing ourselves to see the worst along our drive, but it really wasn't all that bad. Besides a couple of sections of seawall missing, you wouldn't have even known that a storm had been through

Can't wait for more
Oh, I had my eye on that YiaYia lady It defitely would have gotten real bad if she didn't give that bear back right away!

It never crossed my mind either! When several agents started gathering around the xray machine with concerned looks on their faces, I had no idea what they could possibly be looking at in my bag Next time I'll be sure to declare the coins before they go through!

It was, Mayra! I just wanted to know for sure, so that we could work a back up plan if needed. There was no way we weren't getting to Disney at that point!
It wasn’t long before we were called to board our flight, we were told to have our IDs ready as TSA was going to be doing random ID/bag checks on the jetway. Thankfully we were not chosen this time around. We found our seats in row 7 and settled in for the flight. The girls kept themselves occupied watching some of their favorite Nickelodeon shows on their personal TVs most of the time. I thought they might sleep a little, but I think their excitement got the better of them . I switched between reading and watching some of my Thursday evening television shows, while I’m pretty sure Chris slept most of the way there. Before long we were making our final descent, I couldn’t believe how fast 2 and ½ hours had flown by (pun intended) . The whole flight was smooth, we didn’t hit any turbulence at all and had a gentle landing. We had no wait at all, I think we were at the gate and off the plane within 15 minutes of landing . Our flight attendant was very sweet and took a liking to Kaeli and Abby, she gave them extra snacks and even a pair of wings each before saying goodbye .
Because it was after 10 PM we had to stop at baggage claim to get our luggage before making our way over to DME. We took a quick potty break and then hopped on the other monorail to the main terminal, where we quickly found our baggage carousel.
The wannabe monorail
Luck was on our side again, our bags were one of the first out . I knew we would have to go over to the other side of the building to get to DME, so we had a Skycap help us with our bags and got on our way. Thank goodness for him, because even though I thought I knew where to go, apparently I didn’t because I would have gone in the wrong direction
We made it to DME, and it was a ghost town. Not one other family was in line. We snaked our way through the POR line and stepped outside to find a bus ready and waiting for us . Seriously, we were having some great luck tonight! The driver loaded our bags underneath while we made our way on board. The girls scored the first row seat right behind the driver, while Chris and I sat behind them. After just a short wait, we were on our way!
POR was the first stop and we were greeted by CMs waving their Mickey gloved hands to welcome us . I couldn’t believe we were finally here! We made our way inside the lobby, and this is where our luck had run out. I guess it couldn't last forever . The line for check in didn’t appear to be too long with only a few families in front of us, but after waiting for about 20 minutes without the line moving I knew we were in for the long haul. I’m not sure what the problem was, but the couple who was at the check in desk must have had some issues because it just took forever to get them settled. There was only on CM working the desk, so the rest of us on line had no choice but to wait for them to be done. Finally, the CM finished up with that couple and the line started to move. It probably took us about 45 min to an hour to get checked in, it was close to midnight by the time we got to our room, #3931 (building 39) in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort.
Immediately I knew I was going to love POR. The walk from the main building to our room was lovely, and I liked that our building was set back off of the beaten path. We brought in our bags and got settled into our room, the girls even made a chart to show who would sleep in the murphy bed each night. Woohoo! No fighting! Soon we were all in bed, looking forward to our first day tomorrow!
So happy Sandy didn't hold you back and that you really had some great luck. What a bummer about check in. I would have been so tired waiting 45 minutes to an hour. Time for the fun to begin.
Wow, I was a little behind! Glad you made it! Love all the pics of the girls, they came out great.
I was thinking how different they look, and how each one must look like one of you and your DH. I was glad to finally see pics of you and a small one of your DH, bc I think they do!
Sounds like a great start even if it's a late one. Can't wait to read all about your adventures...when I get home, I leave tomorrow!
Just got all caught up-- over the last couple of days every time I've wanted to read TRs the boards go down! What a rough start, then an incredibly smooth part, then a rough check-in, then a beautiful resort and room. A VERY long travel day, but your girls look fresh and sweet through it all.

I couldn't believe how long it took us to check in. I figured since it was so late it would be a breeze, boy was I wrong! I started to get really annoyed and frustrated, but then I realized that there were others back at home that had far worse things to be worried about and I let it go. I was a little inconvenienced having to wait, but I was in Disney, not much to compain about there

We were all so tired, but I think the high from being in Disney was what kept us going

The grounds there are so beautiful! While the area around the main building/pool can get crazy at times, I love how quiet the rest of the resort was. When we weren't near the main area we hardly ever saw other people even walking the paths!

I hope you have a great trip, Sparky
Isn't it funny how Chris and I both have our own little look alikes? Thanks for the compliment on the pics!

It was such a long day, and we were all just so tired by the time we arrived. If it wasn't for that Disney high, we would have crashed a long time ago!

The girls' first flight couldn't have gone any better! Before we even landed Kaeli was already putting in a request to fly on all of our future trips

It was a great room! It totally made up for that lousy time at check in
