The Lang\'s Do Disney

Now I will be posting every couple days I hope. I have 3 tests this week and need to study, so hopefully a couple more days added by next weekend. Enjoy!ºoº

Cast: Denise (wdwlovers) age 24
Jason (DH) age 28
Date: Dec 1-10, 2000
Resort: CBR (loved it)
Why: I wanted to see WDW again and all it had to offer for the Millennium Celebration. Also, we are thinking of moving to Orlando and did some
research on the trip.

Fri. Dec 1

After some last minute re-packing the night before, we are finally on our way! WDW here we come!! I am not a morning person, so when the alarm went off at 3am, I was not the happiest person to be around. My mom-in-law drove us to the airport for our 5:35am flight. We happen to live about 10 minutes away from the airport so this is a short ride. We rode this small (30 seats) plane to Minneapolis. There were only 8 of us on that ride. Was fun. Met some really nice people. Then onto our big plane headed for SUN!!! We had a great flight down to Orlando. Then on the way out, we saw Dante Culpepper was on the flight. (for those of you who are not football fans, he plays for the Vikings) Now this was kinda cool, even though we are hearty Green Bay Packer fans. At least we can say we saw him. Got our luggage and went to get our rental car. We like the freedom of having a car so we can come and go off property as we please. Especially with this trip. End up with a 2001 silver Chevy Cavalier. I have a Chevy Cav at home, so this car didn’t take much getting used to. Got to CBR around 1pm or so. Beautiful property. Got in a looonnngg line at guest services check in. Waited in line for 40 minutes and finally Donald (our CM) checked us in. He gave us a lake view room in Aruba. We got building 54 (not 51 as I requested, but it ends up being great). Found our room. All I can say is WOW, what a scenic resort. The walk from our room to OPR was a hike, but was fun. Got our refillable mugs (boy did we get our money’s worth with these!) and back to the room. Then over to Epcot. Epcot is DH and I fave park. The first and last thing we do on our vacations to WDW is ride Spaceship Earth. Then we checked out Leave a Legacy. I wanted to do this, but wasn’t sure that DH would. Well, was I surprised! He walked right up and said we’d do it. I got out my Disney Club card and we paid our $33, got our picture taken. I know lots of people think this is a waste, but we think it was really cool to see our picture up on the wall. We got a free LaL pin too! We wandered aimlessly for a while. We have PS for Rose & Crown tonight and want to catch Illuminations. That is our goal. The weather was absolutely gorgeous today-72º. Considering we flew in from 0-10º weather. At R&C we both have the Fish & Chips. Now being from WI, we love our fish fry. The fish at R&C was superb, but the tartar sauce was the worst I have ever had. Our PS was for7: 40pm and we got a patio table, but couldn’t see Illuminations from our table, so we decided to leave and find a better spot. Right, big mistake. Ended up on the bridge between UK and France. Couldn’t see a thing. Then back to the resort for some much needed sleep.

Best thing today: Finally getting to WDW, the Epcot fountain show set to Christmas music, and riding SE!
Worst Thing: CBR check-in, the large amount of rude people we saw at WDW
Most Magical Moment: Just the two of us watching the Epcot fountain, in our own little world. No one else. It was a great private moment.

Re: The Lang\'s Do Disney

Denise,

Thanks for posting your trip report!

I'm glad that DH was in the mood for Leave A Legacy. While I personally couldn't justify the cost, I'm glad that both of you were really psyched about it, and it sounds like you get some really cool memorabilia to go with it (AND everytime you go back you can see your pic immortalized!)

I have to agree w/you about the Fish & Chips at R&C...wasn't it phenomenal? I'm not a tartar person, so I didn't even try it, but I'm sorry that it wasn't to your liking.

I'm surprised that you had a bad view of IllumiNations from your patio table! Since you didn't see it very well from the bridge, did you end up getting to see it later in your trip? (I guess I just need to wait until your next post, eh? )

P.S. I know ALL about trying to study and write trip reports at the same time--they're not very cohesive, huh? Take your time--heck, I'm working on 6 months here trying to get this stupid NASTEE report posted. We'll enjoy whatever installments you can post whenever you get the time...

Re: The Lang\'s Do Disney

Thanks Nate! Yes, we did get to see Illuminations (twice) from a great stop. I might end up posting a day per month. I hope not. I was actually gonna not post it, but after reading yours I though why not. I get such a kick out of reading your report. Thanks again
