| The Fractured Fairy Tale- Day 2 Up and going, gotta get to the MK at 7:30- this was our first and only attempt at that particular lunacy! The ferry was waiting, and we proceeded across the lake and through the lines. My God, that first glimpse of Main Street and the Castle is takes your breath away... I know that this is all make believe, but I will always keep that picture in my mind.I am truly priveledged to be able to have seen the look on our children's faces as they just stood there, in awe. We headed for Fantasyland, grabbed a FastPass for Winnie the Pooh, and went to Peter Pan, my favorite from Toyko Disneyland. It was still terrific!I was worried about being able to get on, as U don't walk very well, but it worked out. Back to "Pooh".Our son(7) had gotten the passes, and one was screwed up, but the CM sent us right on anyway. That ride is so cute and happy-no screaming infants yet! Alright,a side trip back to Cinderell's Castle for our 9am PS. They were running late, so the kids had their pictures taken with the Fairy Godmother as we waited. Then came the announcement, they were ready to seat the "Royal Torrey Family"!Thankfully, there was an elevator in there for me(although the restrooms are accessible only from the stairs). The seating area is much smaller than I expected, perhaps only 35-40 tables, and the room was a gem. I quietly told our waiter, David, about our daughter's 9 year long love for Belle, and he got a twinkle in his eye and headed off! What was up?The Princesses, Belle,Jasmine,Cinderella and Aurora were there, as was the universal Prince Charming. They make their way around the room stopping at each table for photos and autographs. Breakfast was pre-plated and very good- the servers pour juice from a height of 3 feet above the table,an art our 7 year old son is just dying to master! Pam was so focused on the whereabouts of Belle that I think she could have been eating sawdust and not known it! Suddenly, there SHE was, at our table! She spent about 20 minutes talking with Pam,pictures, videos, autographs(signed her cap "To Princess Pamela....".Now we have to encase it in a frame!).Before she left us, she told Pammie to be at a certain place at a certain time in the afternoon.....hmmmm,what was that about? We were able to coast along on that "magical moment" as we set a course for Big Thunder Mountain. Now, please understand that I had ridden BTM 13 years ago, in Tokyo. There was the key,13 YEARS AGO! I was younger and a lot more mobile, and I had obviously blocked the "terror" from my memory!! Alright, those with an ECV go to another entrance for boarding, and the CM told us that we would get an "extra, double ride" to get us back to that spot.Lucky us! What EVER made me get into that last car?!I rode with Pam, and Lynne and Christopher were in front of us. 20 seconds into the ride I knew that I was in trouble!! I couldn't brace myself for the turns as my right leg is shot, and I was just plain TERRIFIED!!! Honestly, I am a real chicken and should have paid attention to the posted warnings, but at that point it was too late! If we had not come to the first unloading point when we did, I would have jumped off of the contraption in mid-course!We two adults got off(of course the CM's were worried about me getting back to my ECV- that was the least of my worries!), and the kids hopped in the rear car together. Honestly, I am such a baby that it took me several hours to settle down! I wised up, an skipped Splash Mountain, waiting in the blistering heat while Lynne took the kids on it(oh, the photo from that ride is priceless!) We made our way back to the Christmas Shoppe, were we purchased and shipped home enough ornaments to redecorate our tree in December. Christopher bought me a beautiful star ornament, which he was so proud of because it was marked down from $30 to $5.99! Good kid! The silouhette artist, Margieanne was just across the street, so the kids sat for those-by the way, those are terrific, and there are only about 50 artists worldwide who still do them. They were $15 with the oval frame, but you can get them without. Lunch at the Crystal Palace. Pooh and his friends were there, and the kids loved it. I was still reovering from BTM, so I have no idea what I ate!! Eeyore must have sensed my "trauma" because he gave me a big hug, scaring me even more by coming up behind me! We explored Adventureland and Frontierland in the afternoon.I was disappointed that the Hall of Presidents was closed, as I am a big history buff, but then again, I didn't have to listen to Mr.Bush! A long day,so we headed back to the WL to change and have dinner at Artist's Point. This restaurant is lovely, a special dining experience. The corn chowder is delectable as an appetizer! Lynne ordered the salmon, which she had never had before-it was baked on a cedar plank, no oil, and from all account, fantastic.Chritopher was eating her's! The shrimp were great, and the chocolate torte was to die for(probably added 6 inches to my hips!).The kids enjoyed the chicken breast, but their desert was the main focus. It was a Mickey puzzle, made from white chocolate, presented with a paintbrush and dabs of food coloring paint. They assemble the puzzle and then paint it!!A really unique event! Bedtime, accompanied by the croaking of frogs.... |
