Pooh and the crew do Disney: Day 3... The "Goofy" Birthday Surprise

Day 3: Sept. 19th
The Pooh Patrol
Theresa... 26 today
PawPaw 59
Gammaw 55
Connor 3 1/2
Christopher 2 1/2
And a key add on player for the day...
Will 26

In the beginning...(keep in mind this is going to be a multiple post day... keep reading below
At 6:31 AM the phone rang... I pushed speaker so both the boys could hear our wake up call from Mickey. I then ran for the shower... and came out to a chorus of "Happy Birthday" by the rest of the crew. I quickly opened birthday cards and we all got dressed. We headed out for our 8:05 PS seating for Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. None of us had ever experienced a Character Meal and it was GREAT! We got our family photo taken and were quickly seated with no wait! Our server was a delightful lady named Chris. Within seconds Chip AND Dale were at our table. The boys went crazy as Pluto, Chef Mickey, Minnie and Goofy all came by for visits. I was surprised at how much time each of the characters spent at the table and the fact that they kept coming back again and again. Chris came out with a cup "cake" with lit candle and everyone started singing Happy Birthday and twirling napkins.... Mickey came over and held my hand and the whole crew soon followed... it was awesome!
Christopher kept trying to feed all the characters as they came over... it was priceless. We used the 3 adult flex features for this breakfast and paid the $8.95 for Connor's meal. We also purchased the family photo... said goodbye to our breakfast friends and out we went.
We left the Contemporary and headed for the MK. Take my advice.. NEVER attempt to drive from that resort to the MK... it is a loop nightmare! We went around in circles and finally had to ask directions. In the process I realized that I forgot to pack an extra video tape that morning and we ended up deciding to go back to the hotel to get one anyway.
It ended up working out really well anyway. When I walked into our room there were streamers and balloons all over the room with a giant Pooh bear in the middle of the bed and around his neck was a 14kt gold necklace with Pooh charm... the card laying on the bed said "Happy Birthday from your little Roo's Connor and Christopher". Needless to say I sat there bawling for a minute. Then remembering I had left them all in the van I grabbed the tape, put the necklace on and headed for the door... Just as I was about to reach for the handle there was a knock... I figured it was my crew so I say " Thank you I love it" as I am opening the door... only to find a handsome young man standing in front of me with a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a Goofy doll in the other hand. I assumed it was another birthday gift until he said "Well you must be a mind reader... glad you like them"... I was completely caught off guard and said "excuse me"? He must of realized I was completely dumbfounded because he then said "Hi... I'm Will... you saved me from breaking my neck last night." At this point I am still standing there in utter confusion... so he said "I'm Goofy... from last night. I just wanted to appologize again for falling all over you." By now I am laughing like crazy... I thanked him and explained that everyone was waiting in the van. He asked what park we were going to and I told him... he said he was going to be in the 3 pm parade and that he would love to buy us a thank you/bday dinner and when I said non-sense and said that he had done enough he just wouldn't take no for an answer... and I guess the fact that he was adorable didn't help my protest any...lol. I finally agreed to meet him at the Royal Table at 4:30 and thanked him again and headed for the van. As I opened the van door mom asked what had taken so long and I told her "I'm not really sure, but I think I have a date with Goofy"... she laughed and said that wouldn't be a first... lol.
I explained in detail on the trip to MK.
The Magic Kingdom Birthday
We headed to the kingdom via the FRONT of the monorail!!!! It was awesome... I got some great video. Once inside the park our first stop was Small World... followed by Peter Pan's Flight... and then over to the Pirates of the Carribean. Then over to get autographs from Aladdin and Genie who were standing in front of the Tiki Room.... and I must saw that Aladdin is a dead ringer for the cartoon character... what a cutie!
From there we did the Tiki Room... I love the new show... I think its priceless! The boys danced in their seats with approval! Then it was over to the Magic Carpets. As we were loading a CM named Maurice noticed my birthday pin and asked my age(keep in mind I also had my name tag on). Half way threw the ride we hear over the load speaker "Magic Carpet riders we have a special birthday guest... Theresa is turning 26... let's give her a hand" and everyone clapped.... I thought that was really sweet.... made me feel special!
From there we decided to hop the train to Toontown Fair. ... and ride the Barnstormer. This was Christopher's 1st rollercoaster due to the fact he was 2 inches too short for the others. WOOHOO!!! He LOVED it! Wanted to do it again so this time mommy sat it out to video tape and take pictures. After a quick potty break it was on to Minnie's House and then in to meet my favorite character... Pooh!!! The boys had Peter Pan swords and when Connor approached Tigger he took them away from the boys and handed one to Pooh and they had a duel right there... it was priceless... then Tigger and Connor dueled and then Pooh and Christopher... I got it all on video and in pictures... it was another magical moment!
Then on to the Tea Cups... .which the boys gave a big thumbs up!.... At that point we realized it was almost 2pm and that we needed to head over to Liberty Square and hit the benches Goofy Will had told me about for the best viewing of the parade. We got there, claimed on and Connor and PawPaw took off to Splash Mountain while Mommy, Christopher and Gammaw sat and had a Mickey Bar(I took pics for Mort )
I spotted the Christmas store and ran over to browse while Christopher and Gammaw held the fort down. I bought a Buzz and Woody ornament as well as a 2001 ornament(will get the 100 years ornament on our december trip). Coming out I noticed Daisy, Friar Tuck and J. Worthington Foulfellow(does anyone know who he is or where he came from????). I ran over, got Christopher, the camera and the video camera, and autograph books. Christopher loved them all.... but he wouldn't let go of Friar Tuck... he LOVED him... and he flirted with Daisy as well. Friar played peek a boo and ring around the rosey with Christopher and Daisy.... and we had a blast back there alone for about 10 minutes. I have to say that the quality time with the characters this trip was incredible!!! I guess it had to due with the attendance being low due to the 9-11 tragedy.

It was 2:30 now and we walked back to meet Gammaw and wait for the parade and the two riders. The two riders showed up at quarter til and we sat the strollers against the tape line on the ground... I stood behind them while PawPaw and Gammaw sat on the bench behind us. We loved the parade.... both boys were pulled out to "share the magic" a couple of different times... and when Goofy came by I was pulled out and did the Tango up the street and back with him... while Gammaw captured it all on film and video! It was GREAT!
After the parade we did some browsing around at different shops and at 4:15 gammaw and pawpaw decided the boys needed to go back and rest and that I could take the bus back to the hotel... I agreed and we parted ways.

Re: Pooh and the crew do Disney: Day 3... The "Goofy" Birthday Surprise

Part Two... A Goofy Evening
I ran to the bathroom to check my hair and makeup since it had been since 6:30 that I had fixed it all. I then headed to the castle. As I rounded the corner, there stood Will. He took my hand and kissed my cheek saying it was nice to see me again and asked about the rest of the crew, when I told him it was just me... and told the hostess we were ready to be seated.... and ended up being seated immediately!
What an atmosphere... I had never been here, but loved it! We talked and ate... and I soon found out that Will was from New Orleans(I attended college there) and that he actually attended a rival school and then decided he wanted to work at Disney. He majored in Visual Arts and minored in Theater Arts. He is actually a distant relative of Walt himself and believe it or not that is how he actually got his start at the world. He started as a singer for one of the castle shows 2 years ago and has been employed there ever since. He will retire "goofing off" in January when he starts a job with Disney Animation at MGM.... a position that has been his dream since childhood. We talked non-stop for about an hour and a half. It was then that our waitress Alana came out with a birthday cake and behind her stood the Fairy Godmother. I was crowned by the Godmother with a beautiful tiara and the whole place sang Happy Birthday to me. It was then that the F.G. leaned over to me and whispered "Dreams come true when you least expect them to...just keep your eyes and your heart open". I almost started crying again! Some Chinese tourist were actually taking pictures of me! I truly felt like a Princess! And for those of you that have never seen me... I am far from the picture of a princess... I am 5ft 9 1/2, with short red hair and weigh a little over 200 pounds. I felt like Camryn Mayhiem at the Emmys and almost gave the "this is for all the fat chicks" speech.
It was amazing and truly a birthday I will never forget! I'm still not sure whether this is something they do regularly at the R.T. or if it was something Will set up.
Anyway... we left my kingdom and Will offered to drive me back to the hotel. I was a little weary since he was still basically a stranger, but after considering the previous bus trip I decided to take my chances with him... lol.
We talked all the way back to the hotel. We found out we have so much in common. He asked my plans for the rest of the night and I explained to him about my friends cancelling their plane flights and my birthmom not coming in until Friday and that plans had been changed to just keep it a rest night. He asked if I would like to go to Illuminations at Epcot and said the whole family could come. I told him I would ask... so we went up to the room and both the boys had crashed.... mom said if I wanted to go that she and dad would stay with the boys.. so I threw caution to the wind and off to Epcot we went. We watched the show over in Italy and drank Expressos. As we were walking back to his car Will grabbed my hand and I felt tingly all over. We had just met 24 hours ago but I felt like I had known him all my life. And that is REALLY weird after the divorce and everything I had been threw in the past 3 years. As soon as we got in the car his cell phone rang... it was his mom.... he proceeded to tell her about us meeting and the whole nine yards. Before I know it he is handing me the phone to talk to Mrs. Cottingham... and she is inviting me to stop and meet her next time I am in New Orleans.
Just when I thought the night was ending he asks if I'd like to go over to Downtown Disney for a while. I agreed and we were soon at Pleasure Island sipping drinks and people watching and gabbing some more. We browsed a few shops and he brought me back to the hotel. He got out and opened the car door for me and even walked me to my room.... where he proceeded to give me his cell phone and home phone numbers and address.... and made me promise to call him when we decided what we would be doing the next day and promise to see him again before we left. And then it happened.... I got a goodnight kiss from Goofy!!!! I know Fantasy in the Sky wasn't suppose to happen that night, but I saw fireworks!!!! LOL
He was a perfect gentleman and a true Prince Charming... it was a night I will NEVER forget!

Coming Soon... Day 4... Am I dating Goofy?

Thanks for the bedtime story! You sure make my little trip report seem boring! I admit it-I'm just jealous! I am certainly looking forward to the next part.

I am loving every minute of your report. Goofy (eh, I mean Will) sounds like an absolute gentleman. Could we have a match made in heaven here? Looking forward to hearing more. And I do agree, you could write a romance novel.
