| Family Trip - Day One Family Trip – Day One Cast: DH – 39, Myself – 37, DS – 11, and DS – 9 Set-up: We had planned this trip as a surprise for our boys. They had a Fall Break on Oct 11 and 12. We decided to take them out of school on Oct 10 and 15 and make a 6-day, 5-night trip out of it. We told them on Tuesday night that they were not going to school on Wednesday because we were taking a trip to Walt Disney World. They were so excited, they kept saying, “Really?” and “Are you sure?” I showed them their packed luggage and the tickets. The excitement on their faces was priceless. I had them pack a backpack for the plane ride and got them to bed. They actually got a good night sleep! I, on the other hand, woke up several times that night looking at the clock, making sure we didn’t oversleep.. you know how it goes Anyway, I finally got up at 5:45 am and started getting ready and last minute cleaning packing. My MIL showed up at 8:00 am to take us to the airport. We allowed plenty of time since flight didn’t leave until 10:30. Well, we made it to the gate by 9:00 (security line was not that long). We flew Southwest, non-stop from Albuquerque to Orlando. Flight was almost full, seemed like business as usual, except that there was space in the luggage bins and every one was seated and ready to go 10 minutes before departure time… when was the last time that happened??? We got to Orlando, picked up the luggage, rented a car. Side note: DH’s driver’s license had expired 3 days before and he had not noticed… so I had to be the driver for the entire trip!! It was ok since I have a good sense of direction and can usually get us to where we are going… So.. off to PO-Riverside we went. We arrived by 5:00 pm and check-in was smooth. I got Bldg 14, bottom floor, which is exactly what I requested… Very good start! We dropped off luggage and went to get refillable mugs and snack at food court. You know those Southwest snacks just aren’t too much to talk about! Anyway, we explored around the resort and got settled in our room. At 7:15 we headed over to 1900 Park Faire for our 7:45 PS. It was great. As soon as we sat down (no wait), Eyeore, Pooh and Tigger came by. We took pictures and then headed to the buffet… yummy!! When we were finished, we rode the resort monorail around to TTC and then rode monorail over to Epcot. This gave the boys a good chance to see everything. Younger DS kept saying DisneyLand and we kept correcting him-LOL! Anyway, it was a great start to our vacation. Day 2 coming… |
