| The Bozrah Report – Day two: Who turned on the Rain The Bozrah Report – Day two: Who turned on the Rain. And what is this Dinosaur ride anyway Dates: October 20th through October 26th. Adventurers: Me: Ted (33), DW: Robin (26), Mom, (57) And Grandma (82) Resort: Disney's Old Key West Vacation Club Resort After a nice sleep we are awakened by a phone call from Mickey at 6:45,what a nice way to wake up in the morning. I wonder if I can get a Mickey wakeup every day? We are off for an 8:40 PS at Donald’s at the AK for our first character breakfast of our journey. We make it over to Donald’s about 5 minutes late, no problem there is a short wait to be seated anyway. We get our picture taken and are soon seated on the right hand side of the restaurant. Pluto and Mickey are on our side now. Our Server ‘Laura’ explains about all the ‘dig’ sites where we can find our food, and tells us to have at it. Soon after we return to our table we are greeted by our first Character. It’s Pluto!! DW and I have our pic taken and I take one of Mom and Gram. Darn the characters have switched. We must have just missed Mickey, Oh well; there will be other chances for him. WE now Have THE DUCK and Goofy! Goofy stops right by and we get a couple shots of him, of course he is joking with everyone at each of the tables he goes to. We continue our dining, which consists of your normal Disney Breakfast Buffet More food than you could ever eat. The fruit was particularly fresh and tasty. Donald comes through and we get a couple shots with him. Laura comes back and states that Mickey will be coming back in 5 minutes, We tell her it’s ok. Well catch up with him later. We pay and head off for the rest of the morning at the AK. Our first stop is Dinosaur! Gram isn’t quite sure about this and the warning sign st the entrance isn’t really giving her a great feeling. We explain that it’s really not all that bad. There is a 5-minute wait so she seems ok. I don’t think we gave her that much time to think about it. DW and I notice that something has either changed or is broken during the ride. There is one spot about ¾ through that when you stopped there was some noise from either an asteroid or a dinosaur. Now it’s silent. Other than this part the ride is great All survived and we even brought back a dinosaur with us. We left him walking around the lab so say hi if you see him. We pick up the Souvenir photo and head off to our next attraction. Tarzan Rocks. This is another great show. It has a huge cast of characters including such greats as Tarzan, Jane and Turk. The rollerbladers are very good and the music is very good. The only thing I noticed is that it can get a little loud at times. Tarzan finishes out and we start heading back to the Tree of life. Our next destination is ITTBAB. This is one of our favorite attractions. Again there is no wait. In fact the Fast-pass machines are shut down. We walk right in grab our bug ears and sit down. No waiting. It’s almost too quick; you miss some of the surrounding beauty when there are no lines. But anyway here we are. In ITTBAB. The movie starts and there is the normal shrieking and laughing and eeeewww ing when the stinkbug fires. All really enjoy this. The show ends and we wait for all insects to leave and head off. Tut tut it looks like rain. Boy howdy does it rain. For about 15 minutes we are pinned down inside the Island Mercantile. While the torrents are coming down. The rain finally lets up to a drizzle and we are off to our vehicle, with a poncho for gram in hand. DW and I had Jackets from our last journey. We decide to head back because we have a long night ahead of us MNSSHP, and it’s already about 1:00 pm. On the drive back to OKW, DW states that she would like lunch. I decide to swing by The ESPN zone at the Board Walk, silly me, it’s Sunday in October. That means football and a line at ESPN. DOH! I say why don’t we grab the boat over to Epcot and grab something over there. So we’re off. We get to the international gateway and the rains come back with a vengeance. And there’s Gram without her poncho, she left it in the car. So now we own 2 ponchos and are off again. The rain is spotty; we start off in the direction of future world. Going through England and Canada, the first thing I notice about Canada is the Beaver tail stand is closed GRRRRRR. The rain stops so we decide to head over to the Land for a little food court action. Just before we get over there the skies open up. We run into the land building and look at the food court; it’s pretty full at this time. So we decide to go to the Garden grill. No wait and Characters again. The regular cast of characters are there, Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. The meal is very good and we have a wonderful time. We get out of lunch and start heading back. For the hotel, but first we decide to hit HISTA. This is as always a great show. I do note that the ride is shut down. I can’t wait for the return of Figment. We browse through the stores in Canada and England on our way out of the park and head back for that rest before MNSSHP. It rains on and off for the rest of the day and evening. But it looks like it might stay away for Mickey’s so we head out at about 6:45 pm. As most other things that Disney does they do this right. From the Blow up Jack-o-lanterns to the lighting on Cinderella’s Castle, every detail is taken care of. The rain did stay with us for the first half of the evening, but it wasn’t that heavy and only added to the Halloween feeling. Most if not all rides were open so we were able to ride Buzz, Space Mountain, Pooh, Peter Pan, Mad Hatters, without much of a wait at all. The lines were over in the Liberty square area for the Riverboat and the Haunted Mansion. Also BTMRR and Splash Mountain had some pretty big lines so we skipped them for a later visit. Once we did the rides we were interested in at Tomorrowland and Fantasyland we went to the front of Cinderella’s to catch the fireworks. We were hoping that the witch would fly out of the castle, even though the rumblings were it wouldn’t happen because of the rain. Just before the Fireworks started the rain pretty much stopped. The fireworks went off without a hitch, and yes the witch flew out of the castle. This is such a cool place. We then went over to Pecos Bills for a burger and, did some shop hopping around before the Parade. What a way to start a parade The Headless Horseman was great, I hope the pic comes out. The rest of the parade is fabulous. The characters are all dressed up, the ghosts from the Mansion dancing, just fantastic. We will definitely do this again if we are at WDW during October. We didn’t dress up but it was great to watch the kids and adults that were dressed up. There are a lot of creative people out there. I also took note of the stations that they had set up for kids to trick or treat at. All throughout the park they had set up places for the kids to pick up candy. For the money this is a great deal, a fun safe place to go for Halloween with the kiddies of all ages. I would highly recommend doing this if you ever get a chance. We left the MK at about 11:00 pm after another great although a little soggy day hopefully tomorrow will be a little sunnier and drier. Although since reading other posts and realizing it is basically fried dough, I wouldn't have tried it anyway. [ 11-14-2001: Message edited by: PS - I LUV WDW ] |
