Re: 5/29 - 6/8/02 Comfort Inn LBV Master Matt\'s Disney Adventure (and his mom went too!)

Sunday, June 2, 2002 ------- Day 5, Part 1

"Greetings and Salutations!"

Our plans today was to do EPCOT and to meet a Passporter friend and her son. Michelle(Michnash) and I have been planning to meet for a few months and finally today is the day. I awake about 7:30 am and get washed and dressed and then I got Matthew up and dressed. We arrived at EPCOT around 8:50 am and made our way to the entrance.

After what seemed like an eternity, we started the dash for Test Track. As we were walking, Matthew asked me “mom how are we going to know what Ms. Michelle and Todd looks like?” Just as I started to answer him, Michelle spotted us. I had given her descriptions of us as best I could and it seems that I did a good job. It also helped that we were both wearing our Passporter pins, too. Michelle and her son were very nice and I enjoyed the time we spent together that day. I wished that we could have met up again during our trip. Michelle and Todd had already gotten their fast passes for Test track, so they walked over with us while we got ours. We waited patiently and by the time we got to the machine our fast pass time would begin at the time that theirs ended. But we would still try to ride together. Since we had about 2 hours before it would be time for our fast passes we decided to all to Space Ship Earth. On our way to this ride we talked about watching the butterfly release that was scheduled for 11 am and Matthew took a picture of Michelle, Todd and I.

We also stopped so that Michelle could purchase the newest annual passholders pin that was out. I decided to purchase one also and purchased one of the 100 year pins. This would mark the beginning of a bad habit for me, then it was on to Space Ship Earth. Matthew and I had not done this ride on our last trip because the line was so long. Matthew and Todd sat together in the front seat and Michelle and I sat in the back seat. We talked about a little bit of everything as we enjoyed the ride. As we were walking we caught a glimpse of the character bus.

Afterwards, we made our way to Station Cool (okay I know that is not the right name but for the life of me I just can’t remember it right now). You know the place where you taste the different types of Coke products that are sold around the world. Well we decided to try this today. This was another attraction that Matthew and I had missed on our last trip. The kids laughed at the man frozen in the wall and Michelle talked about the lack of snow where she lives. Michelle managed to talk Matthew into trying the Beverly. He was like, that is the nastiest stuff I’ve ever tasted. Not done being mischievous, Michelle managed to talk an unsuspecting tourist into trying the Beverly also. She said that she almost chickened out and told the woman not to try it, but the mischievous side of her prevailed and the woman tried the Beverly. I actually tried the Beverly myself, just so I could not just how awful it really tasted. I agree with Matthew, it is nasty. We had fun tasting the various flavors and then decided to make our way to the Universe of Energy. The line was very, very long but we decided to wait and see if we would get in with the next group of people. We ended up getting in and the kids were able to get us seats in the very first row. I like this ride and Ellen does a good job in it. It was now 10 minutes into our fast pass and 10 minutes past Michelle’s fast passes We decided to try to all get on anyway, since Disney still will usually honor the expired one too. We got to Test Track and was told that it was closed because of technical difficulties. The CM initialed our fast passes so that we could use them anytime during the rest of the day. Matthew and I had 12 p.m. lunch ressie for the Coral Reef Restaurant so we decided to part ways here. We asked another Disney tourist to take pictures of us all together and then parted ways. I wish that we could have made plans to meet up again because I really did enjoy Michelle and Todd’s company. Todd is a very good kid and you can tell Michelle is doing a good job raising him.

Coming up next: “This is cool, mom!”

Great report! I think I'm going to talk my mom into trying the Beverly during our July trip! (Don't worry, she's played a few jokes on me ni her day, as well!)

Keep the reports coming! I love your writing style! Its sound like you and your son had a great time, and how neat to get to meet a fellow passporter.

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">I actually am looking forward to trying this stuff. I have a feeling that as nasty as you all say it is, it cannot top a little soft drink they sell here in the UK called Dandelion & Burdock.

Coming form Maine I had a grandfather that used to drink Moxie, and that couldn't even compare to the nastiness that is Dandelion & Burdock...

When I first moved here I was really missing Rootbeer, so my husband got me so me D&B thinking it might make an ok substitute!

Ah, really enjoying this report. I loved the detail about TL, I really feel like I know a lot more about the park, now.

It's cool that you got to meet up with Michelle and Todd, too! Passporters sure are a great group of people!

Looking forward to more....

Just a small update:

I went back and added some pictures to my report. Mainly of the hotel view and of Typhoon Lagoon. I hope you enjoy. I finally figured out how to get the pictures in the report, so please just bear with me.

Re: 5/29 - 6/8/02 Comfort Inn LBV Master Matt\'s Disney Adventure (and his mom went too!)

Sunday, June 2, 2002 ------- Day 5, Part 2

"This is Cool, Mom!"

Made our way to the Coral Reef Restaurant after getting directions from on of the CM's. We were a little early so we sat down and rested while we waited. Matthew simply loved this restaurant. Not particularly for the food, but because of the view. We were seated right by the aquarium and were simply in awe as the various fish came swimming by.

I ordered the blackend catfish and Matthew had the child's cheese pizza. This would probably be the only time he would order from the kids menu through our entire trip. My catfish was simply delicious, even Matthew tasted it and gave it a thumbs up. It was served with a side of what I can only describe as cheese n' grits that were quite tasty. Matthew said his pizza was very good and actually ate it all. He also ordered the build your own sundae. He had fun making a concoction and then eating it. After lunch we decided to explore "The Living Seas." This was very interesting, but did not hold Matthew's attention long.

It was now that I realized that my camera film had not been advancing, which means that all the pictures we had taken up to that point where not good. I was disappointed, particularly because the picture of Matthew, Michelle, Todd and I was lost. Thank God Matthew took a picture of them though. Hopefully, Michelle's came out good and she'll be able to e-mail me a copy.

We decided to go see Honey I Shrunk the Audience which was just as great as last year. I love those 3D affects. Then we did Journey into your imagination with Figment. I think he is so cute. Matthew liked it, but because he really did not know who Figment was he wasn't that into it. Walked back to Test Track to use our fast passes and had a great ride. I never can get the seatbelts on quick enough and usually Matthew has to help me, but this time I had the man who sat with us on our row. I think he screamed more than Matthew and I, which is a lot since we screamed just about throughout the whole ride. I still wish that it had of been working earlier so that we could have rode with Michelle and Todd. But hopefully we'll get a chance on another trip. Walked back to Innoventions and let Matthew explore some. He played games and watched shows and demonstrations while I sat, relaxed and did some people watching. We finally decided that we were pooped around 3:30 pm and decided to go back to the hotel. But before we left, Mickey was calling our name. He was saying eat me, eat me. So what could we do, but eat him. Finally we got our first Mickey bars of this trip. As we were leaving EPCOT we stopped at a cart and indulged. Very, very cool and well worth the wait.

Back at the hotel for some rest and relaxation around 4 something, I decided that before we went to the pool I had to take out my braids. My scalp had started itching and I held out as long as I could. I told Michelle earlier that I made myself keep them in until today, since I told her I had them when I gave her descriptions of us. After taking out my hair, we went for a swim.

I think this is the first and only day I actually got into the pool. After a nice cool swim, I sat by the pool and relaxed while Matthew played with a group of kids he had befriended. He has been practicing swimming the last few days, and he is actually getting better and better. It is amazing how fast kids can learn things when they want to.

After about 2 - 3 hours at the pool we decided to go back to the room to wash. This time we both had to take showers and wash our hair. One good thing is now he knows how to wash his own hair, so I am relieved of that duty. I still have to dry his though, because he does not get it dry enough.

After relaxing for a while we decided to go to IHOP for dinner. Matthew had chicken fingers as usual and I am not sure what I had, but I know I enjoyed it. I must say that I enjoyed mostly all of the meals that we had during our trip. After eating at IHOP we made our way back to the Hotel and just relaxed for the evening.

Coming up next: "Lights, Camera, Action!"

Thanks everyone for your responses. They really do give you an incentive to write more. Sorry I took a pause, I was waiting for more pictures to be developed. I should be able to post another installment by tomorrow night.
