Another great installment - wasn't even aware of the Pirates cruise - was fun to hear about!

I also appreciate that you let us in on some good, non-Disney, reasonably priced places to eat - we had dinner in your honor at IHOP this last trip - great food and prices!

Sher'ee (because you requested it)

More about the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista:

Each building has five floors and the views vary. We were in building # 3 on the 5th floor and poolside. If pooltime is important to you and your family, I suggest that you ask for a poolside room. Even though we were on the 5th floor, I was able to allow Matthew to swim while I rested in the room. I would check on him every 15 - 20 minutes just to see what he was doing. The pool was never empty, so I never had to worry about him being down their alone. They also have activities that at the pool for the kids, make sure you check the times to see if you'd like you or your children to participate.

Our room had two double beds, a fridge, a wet bar that they were not using as a wet bar and a microwave. The room was very spacious, I guess my only complaint was that I did not have enough drawer space. There were two large drawers and then the closet near the vanity area. I could have used another drawer for each of us, but it still worked out good and did not cause a real problem. We used the wet bar as a fridge too. We were able to buy snacks, water, etc and store them comfortably in the fridge.

The rooms were very clean and we had the same housekeeper everyday. She was very nice and helpful to us. I must admit that everyone at the hotel was very nice. Each employee we came in contact with was helpful and courteous to us.

Pictures will be added when I get home. I don't know what it is but I seem to get the itching to write while I am at work. Does anyone else have this problem? Well anyway.............

Friday, June 7 2002 ------- Day 10

“How did we miss this?”

We have come to the realization that we only have one more day before our adventure will be over and we are quite sad. Today we got up and prepared for our breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort. We decided to park at Magic Kingdom and then catch the monorail over to the Resort. Thankfully we asked one of the CM’s if this monorail would take us there because we were on the wrong side. She opened the gates and let us through, and commented on how confusing those signs are. Our ride on the monorail was uneventful and we were at the Grand Floridian in no time. As we made our way down to the restaurant, we took a picture of Matthew on the grand stairwell. I love this resort and its upscale look. We checked in and as we waited Matthew was able to take a picture with Cinderella and with Mary Poppins out in the waiting area. After about 10 minutes we were called in. Our server was very nice and as always the food was very good. Matthew again loved the eggs (made to order) and the bacon. I enjoyed a little of this and a little of that. While we ate, we were greeted by Alice from Alice in Wonderland, The Mad Hatter, Eeyore, and Winnie the Pooh.

Matthew enjoyed the interaction with the characters and he also enjoyed watching one of the man clear the tables. I must say that he was very theatrical and fun to watch. He reminded me of the characters in Alice in Wonderland. Maybe that was his intention. Hmmm. Well anyway after we left the restaurant we stopped at the gift shops before boarding the monorail to go to Magic Kingdom. I brought one of those magnetic bumper stickers for my car and Matthew just browsed.

We rode to Magic Kingdom and entered for the last time this trip. Today it was our goal to try some more things that we had missed on our last trip. Our first stop was the Jungle Cruise. We got fast passes for this and went to the Enchanted Tiki Room for the show. The show was cute and Matthew loved it. I know others have said that they preferred the original, but I never saw it before, so to me it was very good. We laughed and even bobbed our heads to the music. Loved the detail of the characters, too. Afterwards we made our way back to the Jungle Cruise. It was so much fun and we both left saying, “how did we miss this?” It goes to show you that Disney has so much that you can literally walk right pass some great attractions. We loved this ride and our CM was definitely into her character. Loved her dry jokes, too. Next it was on to the Pirates of the Caribbean again. We never seem to get tired of this ride and of course Matthew just loves it when my pins go off. Of course I embarrassed Matthew when I started singing along, but who cares we were in Disney. Matthew was ready for lunch so we stopped and had burgers and fries while we did some people watching. The food was very good and very filling. Of course I didn’t eat it all, but it was good anyway.

After eating we decided to see The Country Bear Jamboree. It was cute, but we were sitting on the last row and I could not hear half the show very well. It was our first time seeing it and probably our last, but from what I could hear it was cute. It was almost 3 pm and we decided we wanted to get good seats for the parade so we made our way to the castle. We managed to catch the end of the show at the castle and it was just as funny as when we saw it the other day. We secured some very good seats and just sat and watched the people and the characters. While we were waiting a lady came up with her two children. They looked like they were about 3 and 5 years old at the most. Well she brought them balloons and then left them to go get some snacks from a stand. She was gone for about 20 minutes and of course the kids started getting unbearable. I mean they were all over everything and hitting people with the balloons. I could not fault them because they were children, but I kept wondering why anyone would just leave their children for that long without saying to someone could you keep an eye out for me. I mean she just left, maybe she could see them from where she was, but they had no clue where she was and neither did any of the parents that were sitting near them. Okay so the parade started and we just loved it. Of course there is always someone who comes and stands right in front of you at the last minute and then says “oh am I in your way.” But we were able to maneuver around them and loved every minute of the parade. Matthew said that of all the parades this was his favorite, I think it was because of the snow globes. I love the magical feeling that the parade gives me. The children participated in the parade. They tried to get Matthew but the shy little boy came out and he wouldn’t bulge. Nevertheless it was still magical.

Coming next: “let’s just relax”

Re: 5/29 - 6/8/02 Comfort Inn LBV Master Matt\'s Disney Adventure (and his mom went too!)

June 7, 2002, Day 10 Part 2

I almost forgot, on our way back to the hotel we decided to stop and the Downtown Marketplace to do some shopping. Matthew wanted some legos so we stopped at the LEGO store and took some great pictures too. After makings his purchase, Matthew stopped to play with the other children (and adults).

and we took some great pictures of other LEGO creations. I think it is just awesome of how real these things really look.

if you look real hard you can see Matthew's head sticking inside the lions mouth.

Next we went to find some gifts for a few of my friends and co-workers. On our way in one of the CM's took our picture

One of my co-workers asked for a small disney character to add to her curio. I found a nice one of Bambi and just prayed that it would make it home in one piece. As I was waiting in line to make my purchases I was approached my a little boy that looked like he was about 7 years old. He said to me, hey lady lets trade. I knew he was talking about pins and I politely told him that I did not trade. He then asked me "well why not?" and I had to laugh. I explained to him that the pins I had on I had brought while on this trip and that I wasn't ready to part with them. I told him that probably by my next trip, I will be ready to do a little trading. His mother was so embarrased but I understood that he was a little kid and that he did not mean any disrespect, he just wanted to know "why?" He found a CM who was willing to trade with him and this made him quite happy. After making my purchases, we took one last picture of the marketplace before leaving.

We made our way back to the hotel and as usual Matthew went to the pool. Today I relaxed again while Matthew swam and played in the pool. After about 2 hours Matthew came in and got himself together.

Later that evening we went to the Chinese buffet. Today I tried sushi for the first time and it was actually good. Beware though, that green stuff is very very very very very hot. I only ate two pieces of it, but it actually tasted okay to me. Matthew loved the snow crab legs. I knew they would be a hit with him because he loves those and shrimps. After eating we went back to the hotel and I started to pack. Tomorrow was our last day in Florida. Thank God we were not leaving early though. We needed to check out by 12 pm. Originally they told us we needed to be out by 11 am but I went in today and asked for more time. She told me she could give me till 12 pm for free but if we wanted to stay till 3 pm we would have to pay an extra $30. I told her we would be out by 12 pm. I mean after all we were only paying $39 per night, why should I pay $30 for just 3 extra hours. We watched TV and popped popcorn and finally went to bed around 1 am in the morning.

Coming up:" The long road home "

Re: 5/29 - 6/8/02 Comfort Inn LBV Master Matt\'s Disney Adventure (and his mom went too!)

Oh Sher'ee here's a picture of our hotel room. This is the only one I could find, but I have 4 more rolls of film to develop so I might have more.

Hope this helps also.

What you can't see is the wet bar and the other fridge that are on the side of the room near the windows. One was as you came in the door and one was at the other end of the window. They both worked fine, we just turned them all the way up so that our stuff would be ice cold.

The room looks nice! We are getting a family fun suite and leaving this Sat. morn at about 3am, I am getting so excited and trying not to forget anything. My DH thinks I'm nuts, I've been so into planning this trip, just want things to go right. We have waited so long for this trip!
