| Re: A Touch of the Magic--2 Days in WDW I have to agree with your recollection of the trip. I can't think of anything you have forgotten. Except the sunglasses thing. I don't recall any of that happening..... [ 05-23-2002, 03:15 PM: Message edited by: toogoofy4u ] |

| Re: A Touch of the Magic--2 Days in WDW Who: TiggerAlli (Me, Allison), 34, 11th visit TooGoofy4U (DH, Kevin), 33, 10th visit Why: Because we could!! When : May 10th-12th Day 3 "Who caused this, I want his name!" We then went back on Splash with our FP’s and got completely soaked! We got caught by the plume of water from the log that was coming down the big drop and that was it for us! With as hot as it was it was kind of nice and we were going to dry off pretty quickly anyhow. Time for HM!!! As we were waiting the father in the family in front of us kept looking back at me and I was thinking that there was no way I knew this guy so what’s up? Finally after about 10 different glances he finally blurts out, “So, do you work here, why do you have that name tag?” He was referring to my GOH tag of course. I explained to him that anyone could buy them but he still seemed a little weirded out, don’t know why! We got to see the ‘new’ headstone with the face, VERY cool ! Again this is a classic multiple times ride for us. We went over to HoP and there was a 15 minute wait until the next show so we thought we would head back to HM. Another fun ride (we took the MK tour and went on this with the tour guide, who’s name was Brick, BTW, so we always look for all the hidden Mickey’s he pointed out) and then we hurry back to HoP. Unfortunately we missed it by about 3 minutes so we won’t get to see that one until Nov.. The “bubble” parade was starting but we had seen a soft opening of it in Sept. so we decided to use the time to get on a few more rides. We went past Peter Pan but it said there was a 45 minute wait so we decided to see what else was happening in FantastyLand. Pooh had a 20 minute wait and it didn’t look too bad so we hopped in line. Someone was blowing bubbles all over the place, which would have been fine but I ended up inhaling one—GROSS ! Then this dad starts playing with the wait line poles, lifting it up and watching the water gush over the sides. His 4 year old daughter picks up on this and starts to do it too. A CM sees her doing this and tells them that they can’t do that because someone could get hurt. The guys wife asks what happens and he blames the whole thing on the kid! Unbelievable! We head back toward Peter Pan and get in line thinking that it won’t be that bad but after 10 minutes and moving about a foot and half we realize that this is not going well. It is getting late and we still want to go back to Ep COT (sorry just can’t stop doing that) so we get out of line and head back over to Pirates for one last ride. Unfortunately there was a group of people behind us in line that didn’t quite get the concept that the displays in line were not going to change in the 3 minutes it took for them to get where they could see them! It was crazy, they were practically falling over me so they could see in the windows and stuff. They were very nice on the ride though—no noise or anything! Aaahhh, nothing like a ride on Pirates to end the day at the MK. We finally stop to get the argument causing Dole Whip and DH decides that he does indeed like this after all ! We head down Main Street to do some shopping as I now MUST have sunglasses with the way cool Disney World Resort on the arm! I find my sunglasses and I finally find the notepad that I had been looking for this whole trip! It doesn’t do me any good now but it will be great in Nov.! DH also decides at the last minute to pick up the 100 Years shirt with the main characters painting the 100. We sadly head out to the monorail, sneaking looks back at the castle. We get on the monorail and listen sadly again to the speech and watch all the beautiful hotels go by. Unfortunately there was some issue with the trams and we waited about 15 minutes for one to show up. Normally we would just walk it but with my sore toes and as far out as we were it probably wouldn’t have worked very well. Some poor woman almost couldn’t get on the tram, her legs practically went out from under her. I don’t know how she was getting around the park but she was having some problems for certain. We get in the car and as we’re heading out of the parking lot some van comes careening around the corner at like 75 mph. We immediately dubbed it the “Richard Petty in the Parking Lot” van and got out of the way. We get to Ep COT and on the way in the security guard wishes me a Happy Mother’s day, which I find amusing. For some reason there were about 6 people in line in front of us that just couldn’t get their tickets to work. The poor CM had to keep bouncing back and forth trying to help them. As we were walking through a CM was riding around on one of those new things that is supposed to help stop traffic congestion. It is sort of a stand up scooter that rights itself so you can’t fall over, etc.. They have started using them in downtown Atlanta. It looks pretty neat but I wouldn’t buy one. We go over to TT but the wait is 90 minutes and the FP’s are for after we have to leave. We give up on this and go over to World Showcase. We haven’t gone on Maelstrom yet and DH has been repeating “Disappear, Disappear, Over the Falls” in his troll voice for a few days now so we need to get on this ride. There is a 20 minute wait or we can get FP’s for 30 minutes away. We decide to get the FP’s and eat something as our time is quickly dwindling away. We can’t decide where to eat so we look in Kringla and see some yummy looking stuff and decide we will try it out. DH got the salmon and eggs sandwich and I got the ham sandwich w/jarlsberg swiss and 2 large diets of course. They were both tasty but a little bit on the dry side. However we got the Rice Cream and this is absolutely to die for! It was luscious! I can’t wait to get another one in Nov.. I am going to have to see if I can get the recipe for this, it was soooo good! Some woman decided to feed the birds her crackers which would have been fine but instead of feeding them close to where she was sitting she brought the crackers over by us. Since I am not a bird lover (as previously discussed) we left fairly soon after that. As we were leaving the Tapestry of Dreams parade was starting so we figured we would stop to watch it. We walked out and there was an open spot next to the second ‘celebrating the golden years’ couple that we interacted with on our trip. After we sit down the lady starts asking us some questions and by the nature of the questions we could tell that this was their first trip to Disney. Of course this means that I want to help in any way I can and for some reason it made me feel kind of protective toward them. They both asked a couple of questions and DH and I tried to help out as much as we could and then the parade started. We were very close to a walkway so the CM’s were having a big problem getting people to keep moving. At one point one of the Norway CM’s had to get one of the security guards to come over and make someone move. It was funny really because this security guard was a tiny older woman and the guy was pretty young and big but he did finally move. At about the same time some woman came over and started taking pictures of the parade right by us but she was blocking “our” couple. Like I said these people were not terribly young and they were sitting down and the woman was basically blocking them from seeing the parade. I started to give her dirty looks and eventually she moved on. I got to stand on the little wall that was there and get pictures from a different viewpoint. I can’t wait to see how they turned out! I also realized sometime during the parade that we hadn’t bought our elephant yet. This is something we do everywhere we go and we have to have the elephant. I point this out to DH and we decide that we will look for it after the parade. We say goodbye to the couple and wish them a great trip and then head to Maelstrom to use our FP’s. We both repeat, “Disappear, Disappear, Over the Falls” with the troll which gets the people in front of us to turn around and smile. We go over to the Africa area and look at the hand carved elephants that are beautiful but more $$ than we want to spend. We find one that is covered with fabric of different animals but then DH sees a very plain one made out of a black stone that is carved in blocks and we decide to get that one. We realize that very sadly it is getting time to head to the airport. We walk around World Showcase and take pictures as we go. Somehow that walk took longer than it should have and it is now 8 pm. Our plane is due to leave at 9:50 so we really need to book out of here and we still need to get our “10 miles from the airport” gas. We get on I-4 and head to Semorand (sp?) Blvd.. We are expecting the gas station to be right off the exit but it turns out that it is about 5 miles in the other direction from the airport! We get to the airport and I pretty much force the receipt on the guy who is checking in the car but he is not interested in it at all ! We run to the Delta counter but we can’t remember where we put our frequent flyer cards so we can check in at the kiosk. Things are starting to get hectic now and nerves are fraying a bit. We throw everything to the ground and dig around until we find the cards and can get our boarding passes. We get through security and onto the tram in a minimum of time and we are starting to feel a little better. We walk up just as they are calling our row and walk right onto the plane. This is another enormous plane and the Flight Attendant sends us down the wrong side of the plane so we have to crawl through some empty seats to get to where we belong. Our seats were changed (probably because we were so late) and now we are separated by the aisle. Luckily the person that was supposed to be next to DH is traveling alone and graciously agrees to switch seats with me. I thank her many times and move over. Then we sit there and sit there and sit there. It was at least an hour when the pilot comes on and says that we are just waiting for one more passenger and the we will be off. After 15 more minutes DH turns to me and asks, “Do they have to be born?”. A gate agent had been talking to some guy that was across the plane from us and kept going back and forth so we knew that it had something to do with this. After a while longer the pilot comes on and says that there has been a “security breach” of some kind and we all have to get off the plane with all our carry ons! People start complaining but I, for some reason, am still in the “go w/the flow” mood that I have been in all weekend and I make some comment about how we all just have to live with it because nothing is going to change what’s happening. That shuts most people up and I even get a few nods of agreement. As we get off the plane there is a man talking to one of the gate agents and he is saying “Who caused this, I want his name!?!”. We find this very amusing because what exactly would this guy do with this information? Walk around the terminal asking everyone what their name is and then beating up whomever says that it is them? It turns out that someone got on the plane with the wrong boarding pass. This clearly was not the passenger’s fault—it was Delta’s fault. Why didn’t the machine or the gate agent catch this? Anyhow we sit in the terminal for about 30 minutes and then they tell us we can re-board. I have to admit that this was an enormous hassle and made the next day at work very difficult for me but there were a lot of people that had to spend the night in Atlanta because they had missed their connections since it was so late so we didn’t have it that bad. We were supposed to land at 11:50 or something like that but we didn’t end up getting to Atlanta until 1:30. The trams that take you back to the gates were not working so we ended up waiting about 10 minutes for them! We finally got home around 2:30 am, jumped in the shower, and went to bed, not the best ending to a Disney trip but it was eventful! Final thoughts coming up! |

Looks like you made it through quite a few snags in your trip, including the plane home, but maintained a positive attitude throughout - Bravo! Would I stay at these resorts again? Probably not for the AS, I know that there are lots of people who love them but they just weren't for us. Again, however, if it was there or outside Disney we would stay there again. I actually really ended up liking CS, something I was not expecting. It is a magical resort & has almost as much ambiance as PoR. PoR would still be my first choice but I would stay at CS again. Dollar Okay, after this experience I said I would NEVER rent from them again, but they had the best rate by far (around probably $100 or more less than anywhere else) so we are giving them another try for this trip. However, if I don't like the car this time we are going back & getting another. I will also make sure to complain if the service is bad. Finally, this trip was truly a 'touch of the magic' & even though things did not go as smoothly as we had hoped it was still a wonderful & magical experience!! I want to thank everyone again for all your comments & for taking the time to read this, it really means a lot! I also want to say that it was great to go back & read it myself so close to this trip (where did DH put that 100 years shirt??)! I look forward to reading all of your reports & plan on posting one for this trip (maybe not quite so detailed? 17 days could get REALLY long)! Thank you all again! | |
