Re: WDW fun in the rain with my family

Friday June 21: This is our last day in the parks and we haven't been to Animal Kingdom yet so we go there first thing in the morning. We ride the bus with a family who is on their first trip to WDW. They arrived the day before and they are EXCITED. It was fun talking to them and giving them some tips about Port Orleans and AK. We headed straight for the new rides- Triceretop Spin and Primevil Whirl. Evan and I ride Tri. Spin which is a Dumbo type ride - his favorite while Tim and Alyssa get in line for Prim. Whirl. It is like a Wild Mouse type ride. Evan and I ride 2 times in a row and then they shut down Prim. Whirl so Tim and Alyssa get a FP. Evan thinks he could ride too but he is too short. We all go to play in the Dinosaur area playground and then go to It's Tough To Be A Bug. We got a FP on the way in because last year this was our longest wait of the trip. This is an intense experience for Evan and he says "I'm never doing that again" but that's what he said last year. SOmething about the 3-D really gets to him. Ilove it though. I'm not much on the big, fast rides so this is one of my favorites. We had lunch at the Barbeque place. It was yummy. And then we hurried to Tarzan Rocks. Evan loves this show. We were late and we had to sit in the bleachers in the back so our view wasn't great but it was still fun. He loves the roller bladers and Tarzan and Jane swinging on the "vines". These are really talented performers. I know some people don't like this show and it is loud. I can see Alyssa picturing herself swinging on those ropes with Tarzan. They also like the part where Terk comes out. After the show we walk straight over to The Festival of the Lion King and walk right in. The show is supposed to start in about 10 minutes. They get the kids to come out to teach the hand jive and we have been doing it ever since. This show is just unbelievable. My favorite show in all of WDW. The music from Lion King is super and all the characters are so good. The monkey acrobats, the fire eater, the stilt walkers, the flying bird dancer and all the others are so talented. Did I mention I love this show. Now, we go to the character trail for Goofy and Brer Bear. Minnie and Chip and Dale are there too but we have already seen them. On our way out we see Terk too. It's back to PO for a nap so we can go to MK for our last night.

My DS (5 yr old) has been begging us to take him to HW , but we will wait for the weather to cool down. You know, here in Southern Indiana you just NEVER know what this crazy weather is gonna do! Anyway, I'm sending good weather pixie dust your way for Friday

Great trip report Joy. I think you win the award for getting the report done the quickest after returning home. You got home 3 days ago and are almost done! Good for you. Sorry to hear you had so much rain but great to see you didn't let it spoil your fun. Evan sounds like a little sweetie too.

Re: WDW fun in the rain with my family

Friday June 21: We all rested in our room for the afternoon. I forgot to mention our wounderful Mousekeeper. Everyday she made something with the towels and washclothes. She made a baby and a cradle and she made birds and a boat. She always made sure we had an extra towel or two. We did tip $2.00 each day I hope that was enough. Well, after our long afternoon rest we went to Magic Kingdom. My main goal for the night was to see SpectroMagic. Tim's main goal was to have another Dole Whip or a Dole Whip Float. Alyssa hadn't ridden Peter Pan but we checked out the line and it was a 70 minute wait and the Fast Pass times were during the parade. We went to get a FP for Buzz Lightyear. Then, we all rode the Indy Speedway cars. I rode with Alyssa driving and all I can say is I hope Tim is prepared to teach her how to drive. I want to find a good spot for the parade so even though it is only 7:30 and the parade is at 9:00 we start toward Main Street. All of the spots on the curb are taken but they tape off an area to the left side of the hub as you are facing the castle. We sat there last year and I can see it's already taped off. The CM standing nearby says we can sit there but no strollers or wheelchairs in this area. WE HAVE A FRONT ROW SEAT! I'm sooo happy. We loved this spot last year. We spread out our ponchos and I sit down to save our spot while everyone else goes to ride Buzz for our Fast Pass time. Evan comes back thrilled because he "won". I spend my time talking to a young mom with her little baby who is saving a spot for her family too. She is next to us on the curb. She was worried that it wasn't a good spot but I assure her she will be really happy there. She bought her baby one of those light spinning toys and she is adorable with it. I brought my kids and I play with theirs while she plays with hers. When my family returns they enjoy watching her too. Tim goes to get the Dole Whip floats. He brings back two. I share with Alyssa and he shares with Evan. When he comes back Alyssa and I go to walk a little bit. I've been sitting on the concrete for an hour and I need to move. When I come back Tim and Evan have made friends with the family sitting behind us. They have a little boy about Evan's age and they both have the Buzz Lightyear light spinners. They are from England and even though they are used to the rain they are surprised by the amount they have seen this week. The true magic of Disney came through to me as we interacted with this family from another country and watched the boys become friends. I have to admit I got a little teary eyed as the parade started and my son was playing so beautifully with Peter. The excitement and joy of Disney truly brings all people together. Throughout the parade we interacted with this family and made room on our little piece of the front row so Peter could see it all. Alyssa insisted that he sit up front because this was "once in a lifetime" for him. I could tell the family from England felt it too because they asked to take a picture of the boys together after the parade. I have to say it was an unforgettable experience. I hope they are telling their friends about the American family that shared the parade with them. It was time to leave Magic Kingdom but we knew the magic of this week would continue on through our memories.

Thanks Joy for an excellent report. I was beginning to stress about the weather next week, but decided we will have a blast no matter what. I needed to read your last messege.

Re: WDW fun in the rain with my family

I just wanted to add a couple of notes at the end of the trip report. We left a squeeze breeze and a visor in a stroller one day at MK. Before we left we went to the lost and found to see if we could get them back. It is at the Kennel at MK. We needed to know the date, where we thought the items were lost and a description of the item. We got back the visor but they didn't have our squeeze breeze so the guy working at the lost and found just gave me another one that was similar. We have been to WDW 4 times in the past 11 years. All of those times were mid or late June and the weather has been different each of those 4 times. AND we had a wonderful time each of those trips so DO NOT stress out about the weather before you go. Plan for anything and keep moving. Actually, this rainy trip was one of my favorites because we weren't fighting the unrelenting heat. I would rather be wet and cool than HOT. Everyone is different but I know I am a big planner and I worry about how my plans will go but I have finally learned that I shouldn't worry about the weather. I have enjoyed shaing this trip report and I would be glad to answer any questions that I can help with.

Re: WDW fun in the rain with my family

What a great report. I really enjoyed reading it. We just got back (there from June 19-27), and we spent a large amount of time wet also. I'll admit that at first I stressed about all the rain, but once I got over the weather, we had a great time. We were wet alot, but we kept on going, and we saw everything we set out to see. And, you were right, it was much better than if we would have had to deal with the incredible heat all week. We only got a taste of that, and a taste was all we needed. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed your report, and will be starting on mine soon.
