| Re: Tikibird Flies Over the Hill in the World: June/July 2002 WL - Completed w/photos Day Three Part One Continued – Chris gets a haircut!!! “Yeah,” Chris says, “I need a haircut!” “Excellent!” I think! We are right by the barber shop and I have never been in it, and Chris has never had his haircut there, so time to check it out. He agrees, since I’m paying, and we enter the shop to see only one little boy in the chair, and no line, so we stay. Now the little boy is getting the full treatment. The barber is a lot of fun, and gives the little boy a whole bunch of stickers and throws pixie dust in his hair. I point at Chris and say “Oh yeah!” He shakes his head emphatically. When the little boy and his family are gone, Chris hops in the chair and tells the barber how he wants his hair cut. I, of course, have to take a picture! The barber wants to paint his hair blue, but Chris is having none of that! As I wait in the chair opposite Chris, I jump up and say “Look!” Both Chris and the barber are staring at me as our point out a configuration of hair trimmings on the apron. “Hidden Mickey!” I exclaim. Chris just kind of shakes his head and the barber attempts a grin. But then, he intrigues me by telling me that there is an abstract Hidden Mickey in the barber shop. I need a clue, but finally see it, and I’m not telling – but I will give you a clue – you can see this only if you are on the side of the shop that the barber chairs are on, looking towards the windows! The barber asks Chris what his favorite part of Disney is, to which Chris of course replies “Virgin Megastore!” The barber asks where we are from, and says that he heard that a Virgin is going to be built up here. This makes Chris very happy! After the haircut, to my glee, the barber puts pixie dust in Chris’ hair! We pay the $15 plus a generous tip, given how nice the barber was, and are on our way to the monorail. Pixie Dust for Chris! Next Up – Day Three part two - Wading through Epcot, surfing with Stitch, a missed Passporter Meet, and what I got instead of a speeding ticket fine! |

| Re: Tikibird Flies Over the Hill in the World: June/July 2002 WL - Completed w/photos Hi Tiki, Love ALL your pictures, especially the one of you w/Chip and Dale. The one of Chris with the pixie dust is a riot! Sorry to hear about the "cheesy" family on the ferry. Boy, what is it with stroller Moms lately?? First poor Forti gets attacked by one (which was just shocking), and then you and Chris get the cheesy sour-puss stroller famiy. What is up with that?? | Re: Tikibird Flies Over the Hill in the World: June/July 2002 WL - Completed w/photos Ok, Tikibird, we realize that you were out of town this past weeknd, but it's time to hurry up and finish this trip report! Your fans are dying for the next installment, so don't keep us waiting! By the way, I don't think you and Steve would get very far with an WL vs. AKL debate. I think if you should both take some time to settle down and clear your heads , you'll realize that the GF would be the clear winner, so no debate is needed! |

| Re: Tikibird Flies Over the Hill in the World: June/July 2002 WL - Completed w/photos Sorry this has taken so long - good news is my Dad was released from the hospital yesterday - so no more trips there! And the NYC mini meet this weekend was SO much fun - will have pics up of that when I get them developed. Now - on to Day Three – Sunday, June 30th - Part Two - Wading through Epcot, a missed Passporter Meet, what I got instead of a speeding ticket fine and an unbelievable amount of food! Now, where was I, oh yes. Chris and I really enjoyed the monorail to Epcot, as we had never ridden it before. It was very cool to get to ride through part of Future World Overall, Chris and I had a great morning together. It was awesome to spend some time just having fun together. I called Andy on his cell phone, and soon we were meeting by Spaceship Earth. The sky is looking very threatening and gloomy at this point, but we go to get Fastpasses for Spaceship Earth. Craig is going on and on about how cool Figment is, so we head over to see Journey Into Your Imagination. I am surprised that there is absolutely no wait for this ride! The ride is very cool, but I don’t have anything to compare it to, as I haven’t seen either of the older versions. The only part I don’t like is that the Figments at the end aren’t animatronic. At least one of them should be, I think! Andy now has the Imagination song stuck in his head and is singing it the rest of the day! After the ride we tour the Imagination building. This is really cool – had never been here before either. Andy and the boys love the exhibits where you are playing air drums. I spy the place where you can get your picture with your favorite background and talk Andy into getting the Lilo and Stitch one with me. Then I see it. The speeding ticket item! Last trip, we had wanted the boys to get there picture on an acrylic cube at Universal – it was $80, but Craig was having none of it! Here they were again, but $49.95 for the cube. Craig says “okay” since it is soon my birthday, and I am thrilled! After a couple of shots we get a good one, and I select the cube with Mickey on it. After I get in line to pay for everything (which took forever – the CM wasn’t too with it), I decide I have to have the lighted base ($50) as well. The picture doesn’t do it justice – but I treasure this item! That cop was too cool about that speeding ticket! Chris and I aren’t that hungry, but Craig is, so we decide to have lunch. Chris and I want to try the Tangerine Café and Craig goes to the American Pavillion for chicken fingers and fries and a chipwich ($12, but using the connections vouchers) brings them back. Chris has a Mediterranean pizza, fries, a drink and baklava ($14 using voucher) and I have the chicken swarma platter which is refreshing and light, and oh yeah, baklava, of course – also $14 using the voucher. After lunch, Andy just stops for a pretzel in Germany and some fruit at the outpost. Next we ride Maelstrom and El Rio Del Tiempo. Both are fun, but I still don’t know what they were thinking when they were filming the actors for Mexico! Next stop is China’s gift shop – a must for Chris, and I pick up some Oolong tea (great buy – 100 bags for $6.00) and liquid ginseng on Chris’ request). Then it starts RAINING. Not just a little bit – a whole lot! We hang out in the gift shop for over another half hour, and then Craig gets the brilliant idea that we can dodge the rain drops and go over to Japan. I bought two more ponchos in the gift shop, and we head out. BAD move! It was pouring and we got DRENCHED. The water was seeping into my poncho and I was trying to protect the camera from getting wet. In the meantime, there was so much water on the ground that our shoes got saturated. We finally get to the gift shop, but are sopping wet. Andy declares we will not move from Japan until it stops raining. After 45 minutes I have seen enough of the Gift Shop and remember that Yakatori House is counter service – so decide we should go there for some tea to wait out the rain. I’m upset that I am unable to meet Forti as planned at the Beaver Tail cart, but figure she is probably stranded somewhere as well. Stranded in Japan Sorry = having picture posting issues - will try to repost the rest in a new reply. [ 07-30-2002, 10:25 PM: Message edited by: tikibird ] |

| Re: Tikibird Flies Over the Hill in the World: June/July 2002 WL - Completed w/photos Uh-oh. Tell me those bites weren't no-see-ums. Those nasty little things are all over the place in Florida, and not fun. Your t/r is great! I love all the pictures, and you are selling me on the Connections vouchers, that's for sure! Can't wait for the rest! |
