| Re: Tikibird Flies Over the Hill in the World: June/July 2002 WL - Completed w/photos Continued... Chris and I get green tea, and Craig gets a minute maid orange. We all have one of the liquid ginsengs. They kick in about 15 minutes later, and we all get really weird by being trapped inside, drinking green tea and having ginseng. I start to get really goofy again, and suggest that we all make a face as below and take pictures. Warning – do not try this at home – stunts were performed by trained professionals! After the rain subsides to a drizzle FINALLY we head out to explore some more. We go on JIYI one more time, and then it is time to go to Beaches and Cream and use our connections vouchers. We literally wade to the Beach Club, at one point walking through an inch or so of water. We are seated right away, but have a nasty waitress who gets even nastier when I say we have vouchers. Fortunately, she sends over another waitress that is very nice. We each used one $11 voucher, which added up to WAY too much food! Here is what we got: Chris Double Cheeseburger Fries Chocolate Shake Chili Brownie Craig Raspberry Smoothie Chicken Sandwich Fries Extra Order of Fries No Way Jose Sundae (below) Andy Chicken Caesar Salad Fruit Chocolate Shake Chocolate Cake w/ice cream (also ate most of Chris’ chili and one of his hamburger patties – have never seen the Food Police eat so much in my life!) Sandy Cheeseburger (no bun) Fries Raspberry Smoothie Fruit Brownie Sundae Looks like Chris bit off more than he could chew! None of us could finish our food! BARGAIN ALERT! The total came to $92 using $44 of vouchers. This was supposed to include the tip, but I left one anyway. Good meal and great value! It was still drizzling rain while we rolled out of Beaches and Cream and back into Epcot. We went to visit Ellen, and then stopped at Mouseworks where I HAD to pick up the matching pieces to the Mickey cardholder already on my desk. The rolodex and calculator were marked down half price, so they were mine! After a ride on Spaceship Earth, we went back to the lodge to chill for the evening. I wrote out all the other postcards, including those for my youth group kids, and went down to the Mercantile to get a paper and some stamps. I stopped in the lobby to read my book, and a really cool young man interrupted me and asked how I like the book, Secrets of the Vine. He explained that he has been walking with the Lord for five years, and how the book really inspired him. We had a great conversation – it is always so cool to meet someone in the faith, as I always seem to be able to talk to them like I’ve known them forever. I have one great extended family! Now, I had read so much about how wonderful the hot tubs at the lodge are, that I decided I would put on a bathing suit for the first time in several years and check it out (had board shorts on top – but still was brave for me!). First I decide to watch the Electrical Parade, and as I am standing on the little bridge by the hot tub, I feel something bite me. And then again. And again. I figure I’d better leave that area and go into the tub. Very nice, but a bit too hot, so I don’t stay too long, and walk in and out of the pool just to say I did so, as it was too cold. Speaking of cold, it is FREEZING in the hallway by Roaring Forks, where I reentered the building. When I get back to the room I notice I have about six bites. Figuring they are just mosquitoes, I figure no big deal – make my trip report notes, and iron clothes for the next day. Lights out at 11:00 p.m. Next up – Universal Studios and a NASTY reaction to those bug bites! |

| Re: Tikibird Flies Over the Hill in the World: June/July 2002 WL - Completed w/photos What a teriffic wake-up suprise! Glad your Daddy is alright. I totally know what you mean about meeting our brothers and sisters in Christ. It's like you can never meet a stranger in the family of God. I love the etched cube and base, what a teriffic reminder of why we should obey traffic laws! Hee Hee. BTW, what is a connections voucher and how do you get them? Thanks so much for posting again. | Re: Tikibird Flies Over the Hill in the World: June/July 2002 WL - Completed w/photos Great installment -- love those pictures! We sloshed our way through World Showcase one day, too. Another idea for keeping the camera dry: I carry a ziploc baggie just big enough for my camera in my waistpack. Works great for the wet rides, too. |

| Re: Tikibird Flies Over the Hill in the World: June/July 2002 WL - Completed w/photos I love your airport story. They did a complete wand over on us too last week in NYC when flying to Orlando. I couldn't help but think while they are searching us four pathetic souls could they be missing someone who should be getting checked? But seriously. They wear gloves and when they made us take our shoes off (thank goodness we wore sandals) They rubbed our feet. Free foot massage! Could of used that after the trip! They were all very nice about it though. I did feel bad for my kids having to go through that . What a shame how the world has changed. | Re: Tikibird Flies Over the Hill in the World: June/July 2002 WL - Completed w/photos Tiki - first I am glad to hear that your Dad has been able to go home! Second - what a great installment! Love the pictures! I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment to hear more about the bug bites as I am very allergic to many bugs (carry the Epipen with me at all times). FYI - for your camera... We always carry a plastic bag folded up in our waistpack in case of rain or wet rides (usually a Disney souvenir bag!). As soon as we think the water is coming, we immediately get the bag out, unfold it and put the camera in it. Pam |
