Re: 9.26.02 - 10.01.02 - Beach Club & Polynesian Monday, Sept 30 Magic Kingdom, Coasters, 1900 Park Fare Monday morning and we're off. Grab the monorail and we're on Main Street - yeah! Much easier than yesterday's morning. My nephew throughout this trip would ask how the rides compared to Rock N' Rollercoaster.. We assured him that none of the rides were had the loops or speed, not even Space Mountain. So we started in Fantasyland and went to Mickey's Toon Town and rode Goofy's coaster. The first coaster for DD. She was tall enough last trip but we thought she was still too young. This trip all of us went on it. One word SCREAMING MIL and DH were behind us and DD, DN and I were in front. DD screamed and evidently so did MIL. Thank goodness the ride is so short or else both of them would have been done for early in the day. It was hysterical actually. After visiting Mickey and Minnie's house we were going to separate and walk around a bit. The mountains for DH and DN and a walk around to see the other sights including Peter Pan for DD. DD did not like Peter Pan last trip at all (too dark), so I was prepared and had brought a little penlight flashlight which she had on and pointed towards her feet...from there it was to Small World of course. "Follow me Nanni - over here..you go down here and into the boat ..look see" That was fun. We had decided to meet up and head back to the hotel or hang out a bit longer. DH and DN at that point evidently had had too much togetherness so DN and DD switched partners. We watched the show at the castle and walked around a bit and took the monorail back..the two guys not speaking. Uh the room key isn't working MIL,kids and I went back to the room first and 10 minutes later heard banging on the other door and then on our door. Open door there is DH with his roomkey in hand. It's not working suddenly, light is yellow. You need to call the front desk. I call the front desk - key not working - no not lost etc. etc. Did I try it myself - no DH did. I'll try. I go out our room door and go to the other room to try, nope..yellow light... I ask MIL for her key through the door. I hear her unlock the room and she hands me her key. Uhh..the roomkey probably won't work if the lock is on I say. Oh she didn't realize that she had locked the door before DH arrived I tried the key - it works. Well thankfully that was enough to break the ice and everyone was laughing and the two "guys" were over their mad... Thunder, Splash, a little rain, 1900 Park Fare DN loved Thunder Mountain. I had not done any of the mountains yet so still as my partner (I suggested as too much togetherness and being tired they should stay switched)I opted for Thunder. DD and MIL watched as all three of us went on. I love that ride. As I mentioned in MGM trip section I am not a coaster person and only will do them at Disney. Thundermountain for some reason is not an issue. Maybe it's the scenery or something but I really enjoy it. After Thunder I whispered Come on you want to do Splash Mountain. "No way" he says. "Come on...you can do it. You can ride before Uncle does it. Just the two of us and we'll wave to them.." That competitive streak wins everytime. We went off to do Splash. Again we flew through the line, even faster than Thunder Mountain - no time to think.. Now remember DN has done all of the coasters except Splash. The now familiar sentence "Is it like RnR?" and no sooner were the words out then we were boarding. He loved it! When we got off the ride it started to rain and DH wanted to head back to the hotel prior to eating dinner at 1900 Park Fare. The rest of us opted to stay in the park and meet up with him a little later at the hotel. 1900 Park Fare Well we left the park a little late and were not going to make it back to the hotel and then to the restaurant so we called DH on the cell that we would meet him there. We took the boat over. This is the greatest mode of transport I think, for people staying at the GF and the Polynesian. We took the boat over in record time, checked in got a beeper and sat in the lobby. Next thing you know we were called and seated in the restaurant. I was a little concerned about this restaurant as I'd heard that it was loud but it ended up being the overall favorite of everyone. We loved the food choices. I mentioned previously that our kids eat "grown-up" food so there wasn't a chicken finger or mac n' cheese to be found on our table We clearly have a thing for Tigger, Pooh, Piglet and Eyeore as you can see from previous character meals these are the characters we favor. DD wanted to know why Piglet wasn't coming into the restaurant. We explained that he was greeting everyone. She felt that she needed to keep him company so that he wouldn't be lonely. It was a great day and a nice end to a long busy day. Our last day is tomorrow. The plan is request a late checkout, Ohana for breakfast, Hang out at the pool.

I was giggling envisioning the Barnstormer ride, and sounds like you had a good Disney Coaster day. Looking forward to hearing more! [ 10-29-2002, 08:17 PM: Message edited by: tikibird ] | |

Re: 9.26.02 - 10.01.02 - Beach Club & Polynesian Last Day - October 1, 2002 Breakfast at Ohana, Swimming in the Volcano I'm behind finishing our last day. I've been saying that I'm busy with work - which is true - but somehow I think my procrastination is that the trip report ends and so really does the vacation. I prefer to keep vacation in the forefront of my life actually I will finish this one this evening.. really.

Re: 9.26.02 - 10.01.02 - Beach Club & Polynesian Last Day - October 1, 2002 Breakfast at Ohana, Swimming in the Volcano The last day? How can that be. I call for a late check out - only an hour but it's the first time I've requested one and it's no problem - great! Much easier to swim and hang out when we know that we can head back to the room and change before TTC picks us up at noon. We considered going over to MK early this morning and if early entry was Tues we would have but instead opted to take it easy. Ohana, Conga line and limping toddler 9:30 P.S. for Ohana. We've stayed at the Polynesian before but have never eaten at Ohana. It's a nice treat to end our stay seeing the characters since we are not going to the park. We were seated with a great view of the castle... The food was good, we were surprised. All of the C.B.'s at WDW are not cheap so it's nice when the food is decent also. When the maracas came out everyone got excited to be in the parade around the restaurant. DH took the kids around the room. Did I mention DD's "poor knee?" The night before running around she fell and skinned (a really good one) her knee. She is the most incredible trooper kid - jumped up and kept going - well until we got back to the room that is. DH made a fuss and after the bandaids, antiseptic wipes et. all she insisted that she could not walk on the leg and DH had to hold her hands high while she hopped on one foot. She looked liked the Karate Kid when he was doing that crane move in the movie. So when we went to 1900 the night before she hopped on one foot to table etc..you get the picture. Well she pretty much forgot her ailment at Ohana until the conga line started and DH had to carry her. Swimming in the Volcano Pool We planned to go to the pool area and hang out post breakfast and then swim. I brought their swimsuits so we wouldn't have to head back to the room to change. Amazingly DD's ailment vanished at the prospect of swimming! a MIRACLE. DN went down the slide many times and played water basketball with some other kids. DD loves the zero entry there. They also played in the fountains on the side (shades of Epcot again). It was a blast. We played with that days toy - the underwater camera and took silly pictures of the little underwater kid-fishes. Where Did the Time Go Okay TTC is picking us up when...?! No winding down in the quiet pool as we typically do to make the trauma of leaving the big pool easier - nope we were running behind schedule so immediately back to the room to change and add last minutes items to bag to head out. Bye Polynesian - off to the airport...overtired kids who did remarkably well in that state, uneventful and not crowded flight back to Boston which brings us back full circle to the beginning of the original trip report tale where DD's bag was lost...well it still is lost.. A Promise is a Promise Today we were looking again at our trip and I realized how many things I'd forgotten even though I had written quite a bit down. MGM pictures in front of Youz Guys..., the street show, such memories... DH made me promise that we were not going again next February and we won't be but...don't you think next December would be a great time for a return visit?? I really want to try the Beach Club Villas and wouldn't the GF be nice!

Re: 9.26.02 - 10.01.02 - Beach Club & Polynesian I really enjoyed reading your report. We are going in October with DN and her parents (my sister and B-I-L) and my parents. This will be Lindsey's first trip. She will be a month shy of turning 2 during the trip. I hope she does as well as your DD. Mel
