Re: HokieCassie does Disney World

Cassie,

It doesn't seem that you took advantage of the FastPass program on your trip. You say that you waited in long lines for Big Thunder Mtn, Peter Pan, and skipped Test Track because of the line. Have you used FastPass in the past? I'm just curious, because it seems that some of your waiting may have been unnecessary.

I'm the queen of Fast Pass but the times shown for the return time were just on convenient for us.. I don't really mind waiting with Greg Talking to him is a fun line-bashing activity!

Re: HokieCassie does Disney World

Day 5 Monday "Last day...wahoo! Why wahoo? You'll see!"

Boohoo Why does Disney time move so swiftly? I woke up this morning ready for more Mickey waffles but also very sad that I would have to fly back to school. You never seem like you're in the real world when you're in Disney World. Time always seems to stand still. I went shopping on the concourse then came back up the room to get Greg where my waffles with butter were waiting for me. Mickey waffles! Yippee! Greg only had some skim milk and cereal. He wasn't feeling his best this morning. When we walked out of the room the mousekeeping lady was standing there with a big smile on her face. My eyebrows raised, I kinda stood there uncomfortably waiting for Greg to run back to get our ponchos.
"You have the cleanest room out of any of our guests on this floor!" she exclaimed."All I have to do is make the bed and clean a little! Bless you! Have a Disney Day!" Then she proceeded to do a funny little dance while she got towels out of her cart. It was a crack up. She was such a funny older lady and she reminded me to take a camera if we were going to the Animal Kingdom and not to miss Dinosaur. She quizzed me on some Disney World trivia too. Her name was Maggie for anyone staying at the Contemp. She made my day. She was so cute and sweet! She said that tomorrow she would be armed with another couple of ?'s to stump me. Finally, we left and took the bus to the Animal Kingdom. We walked right to Dinosaur and rode it twice in a row. I just love that ride! Greg was incredibly frightened (He sat on the right side where the dinosaur is RIGHT there)..we got a picture with his terrified face. Priceless! After we rode that twice, we walked around a little bit to find "De vine" we didn't find it. Am I blind? Greg started feel really bad so we went back to the hotel and I wrote a trip report. I took the bus to Downtown Disney by myself while Greg rested in the room. I bought some nice stuff (LOTS of nice stuff, hehe) and came back again to the hotel. I was starving and Greg was feeling better so we took the monorail to the Poly and ate at Kona Cafe. I got a chiken sandwich which was REALLY good and Greg got a salad..also pretty good. From there, we took the monorail back to the hotel to explore around and then walked to the Magic Kingdom. We rode the TTA about three times (we had a lot of laughs on that ride, just silly things, but we cracked up so much that we just kept on riding). We videotaped another car going by. Some lady lost her popcorn over the side and screamed "Oh no! My Disney popcorn!" Ok, well, you had to have been there! We then rode Space Mountain and Space Ranger Spin. After both of those it was around 4:30-5 so we had to get a move on if we wanted to get in one more ride and make it to MGM for Fantasmic. We decided on Pirates because Greg really liked it and he practically begged me! After that and a quick stop at the Emporium for a tshirt and some postcards (I collect them) we were out and on a bus to MGM. I took control through the crowds and navigated to Fantasmic. We got there 45 minutes to show time with plenty of space left. We sat down, got a soda and my legs shook as I waited excited but impatiently for it to start. Greg got me a glowing Mickey Mouse pin (has anyone seen this?) and he got himself some mickey ears and that light up around the ears. They are pretty neat! When the show started I refused to look anywhere but straight in front of me so I could take it all in. My favorite part is when the princesses come out on their floats. I felt a wave of excitement, sadness, and over-all Disney jubilation as my eyes to started to water and I clapped for Ariel with all my might. Another time I started to spout tears is when Mickey shows up at the top of the mountain and everyone cheers. So many cameras are going off and all the kids are screaming "Mickey!"..it's a wonderful show. When the lights in the theater came back on, the couldn't get the Fantasmic theme music out of my head. Greg noticed the teary look in my eyes but didn't say anything. He admitted that was the best show he'd ever seen..better than any movie, concert, or musical. He was really moved and wanted to see it at least twice more when we came back and he told me about all his favorite parts. By this time, I was totally convinced that his love seed for Disney World was certainly planted. HAHA! My evil work is DONE I thought. We walked to the exits, me all teary and Greg holding my hand. We're leaving tomorrow, I thought to myself. But why! We just got here practically. Deep inside I was wondering if Greg had gotten as much out of the trip as he wanted so I asked him if all his money and hopes about Disney World had added up and he said that it was everything he dreamed of and more especially going with me aww, Greggy. You sweet guy you! That automatically turned my frown upside down. It was 7:30 and we didn't really have anything planned for the rest of the night. We weren't too hungry yet but we did want to go somewhere so we went to Downtown Disney (this was my second me today)..I hadn't gone in most of the shops that morning so we meandered through a couple and then went to West Side for dinner at Wolfgang Puck. We got a thai chicken pizza. I've been waiting to try this place for a while and I wasn't disappointed at all. The pizza was great and the place was comfortable. We did have to wait for drink refills a little longer than we would have liked but our section was busy so I let it go. The waiter had a hard time dealing with our camera so to trust that we had something to remind us of our meal there, we set the videocamera on the table and had it on for 5 minutes while we talked and ate. It was a good idea and a family commented on it. They were afraid that their baby girl would knock it over onto the floor though. I observed that this little girl did have wondering hands. She liked to touch to parents' food, lol. She was a cutie though I might have stared at the family a little too much because they were picture perfect. Laughing and having a family meal without the kids screaming or fighting. I can't wait until I have kids and we can have trips to Disney. It must be wonderful to see it through your child's eyes. The smallest of the bunch had her Mickey ear's on. "Alexia" written on the back. After Thai pizza, we strolled around. I was getting a chill but didn't have anything to wear so I went into World of Disney and bought a zip up sweatshirt. We sat down and decided what to do next. Pleasure Island? We didn't feel much like dancing but went anyway. Motion was our favorite club and we danced without many people on the dance floor to crowd us. This is where my best friend met her boyfriend 2 summers ago.We danced for longer than we thought in Motion, which we will realize later The Adventurers Club I just didn't get that into. Some people love it, I don't see what's so great. Did I miss something? A couple of places you needed to be 21 to get into. Oh well. I still can't believe they sell jello shooters in the street! After Pleasure Island, it was 1:30am. We were in there for 3 hours! Whoa. We took the bus back SO tire after all that dancing. We got back to the hotel completely exhausted. I could barely blink my eyes and the thought of getting ready for bed pained me. Put my Disney World nightgown on, ugh, a task...brush my teeth? UGH! Too tired. Wash my face? I wish I didn't wear make up out or it wouldn't be that big of a deal! Oh well, I decided to suck it up and get ready for bed. Greg stood on the balcony as I got all Disney-princessed up for bed (I bought a nightgown with Belle on it). He said that this really is the The Happiest Place on Earth. That woke me up right away and I went out and looked with him. The lights of the Magic Kingdom are always on, even at two in the morning. It makes you sigh the biggest sigh and hope that everyone in your family can experience the magic at least once. I went back in, followed by Greg and washed my face. He turned on a light where the beds were and I walked like a slug to the bed. Greg was holding a stuffed Mickey Mouse!
"For me?!" I exclaimed. He was huge! The biggest mouse I'd ever seen! lol (except for the real Mickey who I didn't get to see in the Judge's Tent darn it, I promised myself I wouldn't miss it, ok moving on, sorry )
I dove towards the giant mouse of happiness and gave it a big hug. We bought it in the Magic Kingdom while I was in Downtown Disney. Even though he wasn't feeling well he went and got this! I held it for a minute and then noticed something. It had a ribbon tied around it's arm. I thought it would be a tag or something, but no it wasn't. A ring of silver with a diamond. I swear, I almost fainted, my palms got sweaty and my heart started racing. An engagement ring! Mickey, I MEAN GREG,hehe, is giving me an engagement ring! He got down on one knee by the bed with my hair all screwed up and my face covered in Nutrogena and asked me to marry him. I jumped up and down, flung Mickey in the air (sorry Mickey!)and gave Greg a big hug. I said yes. I couldn't fall asleep last night. We needed to be to the airport at 7am so I didn't sleep at all.

This morning, Tuesday...

The plane ride was good and we got in around 11:30 to Roanoke..no problems whatsoever. I will keep you guys posted on any other pre-wedding happenings. We talked on the plane about doing it in Disney World..so we'll see

THE END...

We are going again the summer so look for that Trip Report. I'm sorry this one was so sloppy! I tried my very best It was my first after all!

Wow - congratulations, and many wishes for a long and happy life together!

I really enjoyed your report, and it was great to see how Greg was becoming hooked throughout it ( I think Pirates was what really did it, though! )

Thanks for sharing your trip and your engagement with us!

Re: HokieCassie does Disney World

Hey, Cassie!

What a great trip report. My first was for my last trip, too ("Bob and Larry's Excellent WDW Adventure').

And congratulations to you and Greg!

The most extra special thing is that HOKIES RULE! I am <gulp> Virginia Tech CS Class of '78 (yeah, yeah, old enough to be y'all's parent and you probably didn't think computers had been around that long, right?). Anyway, if you haven't, you and Greg might consider staying at the Wilderness Lodge sometime. And there are some special places like balconies and such where people sometimes get married. Just a thought.

Please write another trip report when you can. This was a delight.
