A Dad\'s Last Wish

In 1990 we visited Disney World for the first time staying only 3 days at the Royal Plaza. After that we went back many times staying at the Caribbean Beach resort. My Daughter grown up now got a Time Share at Wilderness Lodge so in Sept. 2002 we all went taking Dad along this time as are guest. Unknown to us he was sick, but didnt want to tell us knowing we would chance the trip. He went to Disney sick. I thought he went back to the room because his hip was hurting. January 2003 he was diagnosed with cancer, the Doctors gave him little time, his last wish was to go his 10th time to Disney World. I assured him I could take him even if he had to have the colostomy. He agreed to the surgery. They found they could not remove the tumor and the Doctor told me the trip had to be ASAP. So March 3-10 we made are Disney Trip, my Husband you had just had is first Disney trip in 2001, my oldest Daughter , and myself took Dad in a wheel chair, he was weak and spent many hours in bed at the Caribbean Beach, able to make it in the Parks until about noon, then to bed till the next morning. He enjoyed that last trip to Disney, he talked about nothing else. All you needed to do was talk about Disney and he would light up. He died April 22 and talked about Disney to the end he was going to go build Disney Universe with Walt Disney. He loved the Haunted Mansion he was going to be the 1000 happy haunt in there. As he died I talked about Disney to him hoping he could hear me that last day. I played all his Disney CD for him , he died here with us at are home and I will miss him dearly. We go to Disney in June for are trip. It will be hard in a way to do it, but Dad would not want me to feel sad about going to Disney I need to think he will see it thru my eyes since he is part of me. I will certainly treasure all of are trips together he was a great Dad.

Re: A Dad\'s Last Wish

That was beautiful! What an incredible man your father was, and I'm glad you got to spend some time with him in his favorite place. I hope that you will have many fond memories of him when you go back to Disney World.
