| Our 8th trip to Disney and the 1st at the Polynesian I'm not big on details, but I just wanted everyone to know what a great time we had at the Polynesian. My wife and I and the two children go to Disney every 2 or 3 years. We drove 22 hours over a two day period and we arrived on a Sunday in June at 6:00 p.m. I had requested a room on the third floor of Samoa facing the volcano pool and that is exactly where we were placed at check-in. All the cast members at the Polynesian were wonderful and helpful. When we got to our room and looked out at the Seven Seas Lagoon from our "garden view room", we knew it was going to be a great week. I wanted to be close to the Great Ceremonial House and also close to the pool and the beach. I think we had the perfect room. We had 7:00 priority seating at the Kona Cafe. We had eaten at Ohana's several times and wanted to try the Kona Cafe. Our first meal at Disney was wonderful. After dinner, we bought autograph books for the kids and went back to the room. We looked over our schedule for the week and then heard the music from the electrical water pageant. We could see about 2/3 of it from our balcony. It was a great start to a great week. |

And you ate your first meal at one of my favorite restaurants. We have PS for Aug for both O'hana and Kona Cafe. Thanks for the report. |

| Re: Our 8th trip to Disney and the 1st at the Polynesian OUR FIRST FULL DAY: Monday We expected the temperature to be in the mid-ninties during our mid-June week, but we are happy to report that it never got above 89. The weather was beautiful for the first three full days of our Polynesian stay. My wife does not want to get invoved in the details of planning each day, so I take care of that. I like to do the parks from 9am to 1:00 and from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, and that's what we did on most days. We got to the Magic Kingdom at 9:00 and headed straight for Adventureland. Everyone headed for Fantasy Land or Tomorrow Land and there was NO ONE in adventureland. (NO ONE.) We immediately walked on Aladdin's Flying Carpets, Pirates of the Carribean, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain in that order. The wait for Big Thunder was posted as 20 minutes, but we only waited 7 minutes. (I like that Disney over estimates the wait times.) This was my 10 year old daughter's first time on the mountains. She was excited and she loved them, especially splash mountain. (This was our first trip without a stroller and without spending 90% of our time in Fantasy Land.) We then headed over to the Hall of Presidents. My 7 year old son had memorized all the Presidents when he was 5 and this was "his" attraction. My wife and I had not stepped foot into the Hall for over 10 years. Everyone agreed that it was fun, but that we don't need to do it again. Soon it was time for our 11:30 priority seeting at the Crystal Palace. The food was great - including some very healthy vegetable and pasta dishes. We had never seen Piglet on any of our other trips so the kids were happy to get his autograph along with the other Pooh characters. We hopped on the monorail after lunch and went back to the Polynesian for a swim in the volcano pool. We had a great time at this resort - the kids loved the beach. I will always want to stay at a resort with a beach. Our late afternoon and evening was at Epcot. We got in Spaceship Earth and Ellen's Energy Adventure before our dinner at the Garden Grill. Again, our meal was great. At 8:00 p.m. we wondered why Future World was closed with hundreds of people milling around. Since we were saving Illuminations for another day, we headed pack to the Polynesian. The weather was great and it was a beautifully planned day. The week basically continued the same way until the rains came on Thursday. We toured World Showcase in the rain, so we were mostly indoors. There were 30 people at our showing of The American Adventure in Epcot. You can still have a great time in Epcot in the rain. Final two days coming next. |
