Third, you didn't happen to get the name and number of that bagpiper, did ya?

[/ QUOTE ]

No Doug--I thought that hooking up with a piper might have been kind of a rude thing to do on my honeymoon. He actually reminded us of a kid we know back home--I have his name and number if you want it!

Kelley--Wally was picking on me for making that clarification, too (it's not like my maiden name is Bjork Leninsdottir or something) but I just wanted to make sure that no one would misinterpret my heritage. (Dees are fehrry important dtings, ja! )

Thanks for the replies, all. More to come!

Re: How I Spent My Honeymoon Vacation--by Rachel W. (Day 3, Epcot Part IV--pic)

Day 3, Epcot Part IV

During dinner we discussed our newfound love for Epcot and decided that we hadn’t done enough for our one scheduled day. When in England I came across the Epcot passports that Melanie (joyjoy) told me about and I was instantly sad I hadn’t taken advantage of them (yes, I know they get stamped at Kidcot stations…I’m also the girl who wore bride ears for 4 days straight—a.k.a No Pride Issues…) and we were trying to figure out how we could spend more time there. On our 2002 trip we considered MGM our least exhausted park, and though we had morning plans for AK we decided to only partake in our Boma breakfast plans and then spend the entire rest of the day at MGM--that way we’d have more time on our final day to do Epcot. I feel guilty that I don’t feel bad about scrapping AK…but Maureen’s “shoulder to shoulder” traffic report lifted the guilt and gave us something to look forward to in the trip we’d be planning when we retured (the Disneyfication of my Beast was allllll falling into place .) We finished up at Rose and Crown with a bang of a verbal dispute from some seemingly underaged, intoxicated Irish lads at the bar. It was yet St. Patrick’s day, but close enough I guess. I got a better look of the inside of the restaurant and would love to hang out at the pub side one of these days (Me = Chubby, Pubby Lassie.)

Instead of going with the flow towards the front park entrance, DH and I hung a left and went the other way around. I thought we were going to walk up to sneak a peak at the YC/BC/BWI, but Wally directed us full circle around World Showcase. What a stroll! It was such a perfect evening, all of the day’s clouds had moved along and the “streets” were crowdless (BTW, both days we visited Epcot we were pleased that the crowds were by far the least oppressive of the 3 parks we visited. Something to consider if you’re a fellow newbie planning a March visit) and the temperature was just right.

We made our way onto a bus back to ASMu. We stopped into Maestro Mickey’s and I did a little nosing around and shopping. I ended up with a Winnie the Pooh charm bracelet. When I was young my mother gave me her childhood charm bracelet which I treasured—it had old-school charms like pianos, green clover leafs, school books, etc. Neither of us ever forgave me when I lost it at the beach in 1982. Being at England reminded me of my Anglophile mother, and I think she’d be pleased that we bought the paper crest plaque (I looked up her maiden name too, just out of curiosity...It was English) so I felt particularly drawn to the bracelet. I also picked up a small decorative plate of Beauty and the Beast’s wedding. I was really getting into the B & the B theme the more Wally was getting into the Disney fun, which included his enthusiasm for future WDW trips. (We also consider a few DCL cruises in our future.) We made our way back to the Broadway section and took some photos of the scenery…mostly the signs of Times Square renditions of Beauty and the Beast-The Musical!

All Star Music, Broadway

BTW, you future brides and those who know Disney-prone brides-to-be: this is THE honeymoon. We're all part of these boards because we love Disney--I'm the only one of my real-life friends who would even go on a kidless WDW vacation, much less honeymoon but we here know what it's all about. If you like wearing veils (like me) and you like pixie dust, moderate attention, and an excuse to act like a kid in the realm between theme parks, nice restaurants, and evening entertainment--WEAR THE EARS. This was the best honeymoon we could dream of, and not even the disromance of the All Stars could kill it. I have Debbie (DebiDebiDebi) to thank for tipping me off on her daughter's honeymoon and all the special attention they got from ear-wearing. It was this little anectdote that sold Wally on my ears (even though we both knew I'd wear them anyways..but he kind of liked the free dessert, too! ) Thanks, Deb! And congratualations, brides!

See...this is what makes a good PassPorter great. You make your plans and then are prepared to scrap them at a moment's notice. No need to feel guilty about missing an attraction or a park, because you know you will be back!

I appreciate the thought of trying to hook me up, but I learned the hard way, long distance just doesn't work for me.

Wachel!
I'm loving your report. I'm so pleased that the Epcoffin is sealed. My work here is done. I was going to post a poll while you were gone to see who thought Wally would wear the tophat ears, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. I figured no, but I KNEW you would. Yay! And thank you for the photo of Off Kilter, did they ask about me?

(Douglas, his name is Jamie. Isn't he cute? }

Excellent reporting, Rachel, keep it up! Can't wait for the rest of it.

Just got caught up on your report. I'm really enjoying it. I'm especially enjoying Wally becoming more of a WDW fan! Looking forward to reading the rest.

Re: How I Spent My Honeymoon Vacation--by Rachel W. (Day 3, Epcot Part IV--pic)

My first marriage consisted of a WDW honeymoon. I don't think my former wife cared for it as much as I did . I did not need kids to enjoy WDW. However, now that I have kids, I enjoyed sharing WDW with them as well (although I don't think they appreciate the magic as much as I do) . My current DW was resistent to go to WDW (since she knew where I spent my last honeymoon and had bad experiences when she was a child). When we went together with our kids last year, she changed her mind. We are going back this year.

My conclusion is some special people can enjoy WDW without kids, while others need kids to hide behind.

Re: How I Spent My Honeymoon Vacation--by Rachel W. (Day 4, Part I, Boma)

Day 4, Part I, Boma

After dreaming all night about the Epcot country that cultivated the foot massage (why don’t they have those there??) I woke up with my belly muscles actually feeling sore from the incessant sneezing from my first two mornings (I had allergies, but luckily each day they crept away by mid-morning.) It was 8-ish and we had 10:15 PSs for Boma so I decided to let DH sleep a little longer while I hopped over to Maestro Mickey’s to do a little more poking around there. I picked up the items I had sent back to the room—including the Cinderella/Prince Charming opalescent wedding figurine. I just love that thing. Even now being home, I still love it—its allure didn’t diminish on the flight back, and it looks great right where I thought it would. At the store I thought about buying the Belle “I’m with the Beast” t-shirt, but recalled Wally saying that he didn’t want me wearing it. So that was that.

When I returned I was happy to see Wally already up, showered, and ready to start the day. It was St. Patrick’s Day! What did this Irish Gal wear? A red top, of course! Well, at least it wasn’t orange (this was such a big holiday at my school growing up that it was a celebrated Dress Up Day for those who partook in the Irish Jig competition [not to brag, but uh…two-time winner here *breathe on nails*brush nails on lapel*arch eyebrow*place upper lip inside bottom lip while looking to the left*] and kids who showed up wearing orange were sent home to change—it was a parochial school, what can I say.) I didn’t come prepared to properly celebrate the patron saint of Ireland’s big day but I did have a special fondness for the Adventures of Snow White t-shirt I bought outside SWSA, so I decided it was festivus enough.

We made it onto the bus by 9:15 and were excited by the mere anticipation of a comparatively shorter bus ride to the AKL. It wasn’t as short as I thought it would have been, but I got a chance to fiddle with the watch I bought at Epcot and changed the plaquette face from Cinderella’s image to Belle’s. The rest of the time I used to get excited about our upcoming meal and our upcoming day. I hadn’t told Wally much of what I knew about the AKL, except that it was designed by the same guy who did the WL, but I for one was really excited to finally get to see it.

We of course were both extremely impressed with this resort's lobby. The scent alone was enough to make any AKL long-term guest ache for that same musky aroma for years to come, and I imagine it’s one heck of a warm welcoming to repeat stayers. We stepped into the gift shop and found umpteen million items we never saw again at any other shops. We’re both big animal fans, and I especially enjoy leopard print, so when I saw the fuzzy-mickey leopard print t-shirt I let out an “aw!” without even realizing it. DH was at my side when I saw it, and let it go out of my mind…I knew I should have bought it, but at the moment wasn’t justifying the expense. Yesterday (March 23) was my birthday, and can you guess what was one of my gifts? Yup, the fuzzy leopard shirt! I wore it to work today, it was just that perfect, fitted, “business casjh” quality that's acceptable at my work and I got lots of compliments. I’m just sad I can’t wear it again tomorrow! And the next day. And the next…

We made it to our Boma check-in and were seated on the spot. We got a nice table for 2 over by the windows and Wally was growing excited by the scenery, the scents, and the visible kitchen staff--he’s always analyzing restaurants and was comforted by the staff’s relaxed and even pace and venerated them throughout the meal. Our server came by and congratulated us on our Wedded Bliss and brought some of that AWESOME, OH MY GOSH, KILLER juice that they serve and sent us on our merry buffet way.

At Boma Breakfast

I mentioned before that DH loves culture…he loves any culture that “swings” (no, not in the key-party way—-but in the soul way…) and he really dug this restaurant. He’s also into spicy, interesting foods and NO ONIONS, and this buffet delivered. My breakfast palate preferred the Crystal Palace buffet, but I was happy that he was happy. He also announced that “the next time we come back to WDW” () we’d have to visit this restaurant for dinner…which I hear is really something special for vegetarians and you blood-thirsty carnivores alike . I’m always up for a buffet, so it sounded like a plan to me.

We were dine-dine-dining along when our server came by to hand us a little envelope with “Congratulations” handwritten across the front. She said it was something “from us” for the honeymoon couple. I opened up the envelope and found a lovely card congratulating us for our special occasion, and it was signed by all the CMs of Boma along with their nations of origin! Wow, what a nice treat! I heart Bride Ears! DH took some time reading each and every entry. I on the other hand was so touched that I couldn’t even focus. I can’t say it enough—WDW treats its honeymooners so well, that there were times that I was humbled by the effort. However, I managed to compose myself enough to finish up my second round and we settled up the bill and got ready for the rest of our big day.

Next up: MGM
