| My not so solo trip May 12th -17th .....Day 2, Part 1 ready! Ok, I am giving this trip report a shot, hope you like it!! Hopefully I remember what I did each day lol. Did not take notes thinking I won't be making a trip report, but hey, why not try!! Travelers... or should I say Traveler, me Janine (38) When...May 12th till the 17th Where...Coronado Springs Resort Occasion....Just because I love the Mouse and all his wonderful friendsTuesday, May 11th Got off from work at 4pm on Tuesday the 11th and was all excited, I am going to Disney World the next morning!! The long awaited trip has finally arrived, well, ok, not that long awaited, only started to plan the trip in January lol. Went home and did some last minute errands then onto a nice long soak in the tub. As I got out of the bathroom mom let me know that my cat Jadzia had been straining to go to the bathroom. Jadzia had also been straining that morning, something must be wrong. After stressing on what to do, obviously any vets are going to be closed, it is 9:30 at nite. Ok, so on the phone I go to call my sister who works for a vet, but she is sleeping, so no hlep there. So I drag out the yellow pages to get a number of a vet thinking there answering service may be able to tell me a place where jadzia can be checked. Luckily there is an ad for an emergency pet hospital in Waltham, the next town over. I give them a ring and they let me know right off that it is a $100 charge just for seeing the cat. No problem, can't leave a cat that may have some kinda bladder problem, so I have no choice. Better then canceling the trip which I thought I was going to have to do. Turns out the vet thinks it is a bladder infection due to stress. My cats had had a huge fight about 4-5 days before, and Jadzia was stressed out big time from it. The vet gave her some antibiotics under the skin and such and said to keep an eye on her. Whew, now I don't have to cancel my trip, well, I may have to cut the trip short if Jadzia does not get any better or gets worse, but things are looking a little brighter. Got home around 1am and finished packing and went to bed at 2am for a few hours sleep, have to get up at 5:30, taxi is picking me up at 6:45 to take me to the airport. Wednesday, May 12th Alarm goes off at 5 am and I hit the snooze buttons a few times. I am tired, I woke up at 3am with my arm asleep and could not get back to sleep, so I ended up with only an hour of sleep. Heated up a cup of coffee and had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and I was ready to go. Taxi arrived right on time and off to the airport I was. Got to the airport with no problems and checked my bags at the curb, went through security no problem and grabbed a coffee and donut and took a seat at my gate. I soon decided that cup of coffee was a big mistake, instead of waking me up, it just made me feel kinda yucky, I felt sick, though not naseaus thankfully. Arrived in Orlando right on time, checked in with Mears and soon was on my way to the Coronado Springs Resort. We stopped at 2 resorts along the way, first at the CBR which I stayed at in 91 and loved. As I was seeing it again, I was thinking I can't wait to go back and stay in the CBR again. Next stop was Pop which looked really fun too. Then we are at Coronado and WOW!!! I love it, can't wait to walk around and check it out. I meet up with another fellow guest Barbara and we start talking along the way to check in. I love chatting with fellow guests during my stay, always meet some nice people during the trip. We get to check in and this goes without any problems. I am shown on a map where rooms are available between 2 points, which looks like the end of Casitas and the start of the Cabanas, so looks like mostly Ranchos section is available. I was hoping for Cabana section so I ask if there are any available in the Cabanas, cause the way he showed it, it looked like maybe there is one in the beginning of the Cabanas. But he said none available there, oh, wait, there is a room available in the Cabanas! Yay, That made my day hearing that, felt like a little pixie dust came my way!! I get my room key which I added my charge card too, love being able to use my room key to charge, and head on over to bell services. I wait for Barbara to finish, interested in hearing where she is, she requested the Cabanas ahead of time and water view. Barbara got building 9 while I got 8 so we end up sharing a shuttle over. I get dropped off first and wow, what a location, I have a side room but can see Lake Dorado from my window if I look to the left. Room is nice too, like the decor of it, I tip the bellhop and check out the room quickly and head out to Pepper Market to get some lunch. I decide to take the long way around the lake Pepper Market so I can check out the rest of the resort. I would not have been dissapointed if I had gotten a room in Ranchos or Casitas, I really like those sections too. Though, I do notice the quiet pools in the Ranchos and Casitas sections are themed a little bit where the quiet pool in the Cabana section is rather plain, just a pool and chairs, wonder why that is mmmmm. I get to Pepper Market and I am seated right away, no wait. I order a coke and then go check out the sections and see what I want. Over all I don't see anything that appealing to me this afternoon, so I order a cheeseburger and fries. Ok, this is probably what I would have ordered at any other resort too, it is one of my fave meals and I am rather boring that way lol. Don't get too many fries and they are steak fries, not the fries I got at All Stars, you know the McDonald type fries, shoestring fries I think you would call them. Cheeseburger tasted ok, did not like the fries all that much, overall I am not impressed with Pepper Market. The system where you pay the gratuity with your bill does not bother me all that much. I just did not really like Pepper Market all that much, it is ok, but liked the food court at All sTars better, better selection of food In my opinion. Ok, now back to my room to unpack and head on over to the Magic Kingdom. I quickly unpack and take a shower and I am out the door to catch a bus to the Magic Kingdom. I have only a short walk to the bus stop and see a bus pull up. It is a bus to the Magic Kingdom, can't believe my luck, normally have the luck of seeing the buses for the other parks come first before the one I need comes. I go through security with no problems and head over to get my annual pass activated!! I get my pass activated and I am excited to see that I got Mickey Yay!! I am soon in the park and heading down Main Street and what a sight the Castle is, it brings tears to my eyes. I always get teary eyed at the first sight of the castle on my first day there, it is like I am home again. I decide head to the left as I find everyone goes to the right, and well, the bus driver on the way over also suggested this, so I am somewhat right about this I believe lol. Fist ride I go on is the Jungle Cruise, which I always find I enjoy.I liked the guide I had this time, one of the funnier ones I have gotten. I he Now I am ready for a snack and what do I see? Mickey bars yum, gotta have one!! As I am walking and enjoying my Mickey bar I start thinking of what I want to go on next. I see Tom sawyers Island and realize I have not done this in a while, skipped it during my trip in November. But I decide I really can't wait to go on BTMRR, I missed it in November due to it being closed down so off I go to BTMRR. Not too long of a wait either and I get a seat towards the back, yeah! I love this ride, I would have to say it is my fave ride in the MK. I hop on Splash mountain right after getting off of BTMRR and again not a long wait, I get a bit wet which is ok, it cools me right down. Next up I decide to do the haunted mansion and of course love seeing the reactions of all the guest entering when they notice Madam Leottas grave and her moving eyes!! I am still amazed how many don't notice it, which sad to say I was one of them till I read about it myself. Ok, so get through Haunted Mansion and I decide to check out an attraction I have not seen in ageas, Hall of Presidents, and I actually enjoyed it this time more then I have in the past. Ok, I put it off as long as I can, didn't want to skip rides to see this attraction, though I was tempted. Now I am off to see Mickeys Philharmagic, Love this show. I think this is the best 3-D show that Disney has and I do love the others too. One hint I do recommend for everyone who has not seen the show, make sure you turn around and look at the back wall at the end of the show, you will see a part of the show that most miss, not realizing they should turn around lol. Maybe some of you who have seen the show also don't realize they should turn around. I know the first few times I saw it I did not. I find Fantasyland a bit crowded, so I skip the rides here for the time being. I head on over to Tomorrowland and get on Buzz Lightyear and don't do too bad, do better then I usually do. I don't remember the score I got though, but it was higher then I have gotten before, not by a lot though lol. I grab something to eat at Cosmic Rays, another cheeseburger and fries, like I said, I am boring this way lol. Next I head on over to Carousel of Progress. I am so glad this show is open during the Alien Encounter refurbishment, I really enjoy CoP. At this time I pick up my wristband for the EMH, they are handing them out right outside of Timekeeper. Kind of confusing where they were giving them out. On the sheet of info paper they listed a few places where to get them, but they were not giving out there. But eventually found out they were handing them out outside of Timekeeper so no big deal. I believe they were also giving them out at the Entrance too. Now off to Space Mountain, hoping to get the front, I love the front lol. Nope, I don't get the front, but thats ok, I still enjoy it anyways. I really liked the EMH here at the MK, liked the rides they had open. I got to ride BTMRR a few times in a row and in the dark too. I love this ride in the dark, it is so much fun and the first ride I got to ride on the back. I love to ride in the back on BTMRR as much as I love to ride Space Mountain in the front. I also ride Splash Mountain a few times in a row too, another ride I love in the dark. Love looking at the Castle all lit up right before you drop. Ok, I have to try out The Jungle Cruise at nite too, but this ride was the same as in the day side. I move on through the park, trying out all the rides I feel would be neat at nite. I did have to see Mickeys Philharmagic again. Onto Astro Orbiter, I think this ride would rock at nite and I was right, it did. Now I headed on back to Ride BTMRR one more time before I leave. I had time for one ride on it then it was time to go. It is now Midnight and I am exhausted and ready to get back to my room and get some sleep. I loved the EMH here at this park and hope they keep it. I thought it was a bit too busy at first and was going to have long waits, but the lines were decieving, they looked long but went quicker then during regular hours. Next up....Day 2 Epcot, Flowers, Gardens and Passporters ad on over to Pirates of the Carribean next, only have a short line and I am on the ride. |

| Re: My not so solo trip May 12th -17th Great report so far Janine. My company is a customer of PTC, so I have visited Waltham often. Unfortunately, my family has frequented vet hospitals many times this year. I am glad your cat only had a bladder problem (maybe she got stressed knowing you were leaving for a few days). Look forward to reading the rest of your trip report. |
