Re: Our first trip to WDW 8/21 - 8/29 Day 4 at Epcot posted

Day 4 in Epcot.

DH scheduled all park visits based on early magic hour and Epcot was no different, rise and shine early with a Mickey wake up call for 6:30, showers, breakfast and off to the park by 7:45. So we get to the ASMR bus stop for Epcot at 10:00 right on plan!!!

Into Epcot at 10:30AM and the park is hopping. We head over to Test Track and get Fast Passes for 1:40-2:40. Next is over to Mission Space where DD and DS try to convince DH and DW to ride but the motion sickness warnings are well heeded by DH and DW will think about it. Not much of a wait for single riders so the kids head into the ride. Huge smiles on the kids as they come off the ride convince DW to give it a try, inspite of DH concerns for her motion sickness…Oh well. With minimal lines they are through the ride quickly and DW is feeling a little queasy! What a surprise. She says the ride was very good even though now she was not feeling very well. After resting a bit and getting a snack we headed over to Ellen’s Energy Adventure after realizing that Body Wars was closed. The energy adventure was neat and done very well. DW was very impressed with the movement around the theatres. We all enjoyed this even the kids who like Spaceship Earth might have learned something. That was why DW and DH were so disappointed that the Body Wars and that pavilion were closed.
Hunger was beginning to set and it was after noon so the decision was made to go to World showcase for lunch. DH wanted fish and chips from England, DS wanted brats from Germany (DH would agree to that also), DW was happy getting snacks from each area and DD wanted either Chicken nuggets or Pizza. Gotta love this group! First up is England where DW decides one order of fish and chips will satisfy the whole group though we ordered an extra order of chips for DD before she “died of starvation”. Fish and Chips is two pieces of fish and fries and dear sweet DS grabbed one whole piece and DW left a quarter of a piece for DH, as he went back to get the malt vinegar. This did not sit well with DH but waiting in line at the time for another order would take too long so on we moved, to France, (too rich,) Morocco (too exotic) and Japan where the potential was there for satisfying the 3 of the 4 members knowing that DD would only eat fries anyway, which she had in England. However, the response to dining there was tepid with DS and DW so we moved along to Italy. DH made the executive decision as it was nearing 12:30 and we did have those fast passes for Test track that we would eat here at the “Alfredo Restaurant”. A short ten minute wait and we were ordering DW had fantastic Fettuccine Alfredo (with a sauce with so much butter and cream she thought she was going to clog an artery) DH had a sampler of Gnocchi, Lasagna and Alfredo also very good, DD had a Pizza, no sauce, so essentially a grilled cheese sandwich and DS had something that was gone before anyone realized or could remember what he had. Neither DW or DH could finish the meals the total bill for lunch around $98, ouch!
It was about 1:40 when we left the restaurant not anticipating a fast paced walk to Test Track, when DS suggests “taking that boat over there”. What a great relaxing idea, except for DD who everyone forgot tends to get seasick which she was concerned about. This from the girl that goes on every imaginable thrill ride without a problem! She survived the ride and we were at Test track with plenty of time to spare. Test Track was interesting, predictable (breaking through the wall) and very short. Though DS, DD would have gone again the Fast Pass was for after 7PM so they said no. Besides there did not seem to be much of a line on Mission Space, so they rode again.
DS, a very mechanical and inquisitive electronics buff, really wanted to check out Innovations which was next on the hit parade, the timing of which could not have been better as the afternoon showers started while we toured East and West for over an hour, maybe 90 minutes.
When the rains subsided, we traveled to see Honey I shrunk the Audience, another good #D movie, again though not much wait and we learned to be in the middle of the Theatre. There was one point in this movie were a rather large adult man behind DD was so surprised he jumped out of his seat hitting DD’s seat! She was laughing so hard at him and he was constantly apologizing to everyone. Throughout the whole movie he was quite funny in his over reactions; it was almost as funny as the movie! Following the movie we headed over to the Living Seas which was enjoyed by the entire family. The exhibits were done well and the aquariums were very interesting.
Nearing 6PM we voted to save the Land Pavilion for another trip or day, and we headed to World Showcase. This was a true mission for DH and DS to get to Germany for Brats, sauerkraut and a Beer for DH. DW was thinking of Chinese food and DD wanted fries, surprise surprise! With DH in the lead we easily made it to Germany and the two men had a Brat with Kraut for DH and without kraut for DS. A lovely young fraulein served DH and DS which made them both happy! DW and DD left to look around as the two men dined alfresco in Germany. DS was still hungry as was DH so they ordered another Brat to split and DS tried the Kraut which he loved! The plan following the brats was to begin looking for a place to observe Illuminations for the second time. We landed a spot along the rail between Mexico and Norway, as DW headed to China for some food.
The show was great again though the water and fireworks directly in front of us were inoperable, what a disappointment. This show is still a favorite and a hit with the family.
While we were waiting for the show to start the sun was setting on the opposite side of the lake which presented some great pictures of the family. DH became the photographer for many families as they stopped and took their pictures with the sun setting in the background.
After the show we took the slow walk back to the bus stop and the return to our rooms. Of the three Disney Parks already visited (MGM will be on Saturday) DS, DD and DW definitely like Epcot the best even though we had not seen that much of the world showcase. DH would like to have spent more time there but that will have to happen at a future visit.
We wrapped the evening up in typical fashion with DD in the pool, DS watching the Olympics and DH and DW relaxing in the evening watching DD with a favorite cocktail. As DH said we have to get into bed early to get to MK for the early Magic Hour, we also have our second PS at the Contemporary for late breakfast at 11:00 with Chef Mickey, so getting to the park will be important to catch some of the rides before leaving for breakfast!

Great updates!! So glad you all enjoyed Epcot so much! It seems there's never enough time to explore the World Showcase as much as you'd like. Looking forward to another installment!
